The Nintendo 3DS Is The Fastest Selling Console Ever In Japan

Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo 3DS is the fastest selling console ever in Japan. The Nintendo 3DS sold five million units in just fifty-two weeks according to Nintendo. Sales for the Nintendo 3DS were rather lacklustre initially, but as soon Nintendo slashed the recommended retail price and released games such as Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 sales for the system soared.

    1. Well, let’s put it this way. The 3DS sold 67,000 units in one week. The next one down the list sold a measly 22,000 (PS3). literally more than 3 times the sales….and the PSV isn’t even coming close…

        1. I’m just giving you a perspective in 1 week that wasn’t even a holiday just to get a general idea as to where the sales of the 3DS are at.

  1. ride a 10 speed everywhere guy

3ds is an amazing handheld system sony should do well in the us im sure but like many people like me sony dosnt really deserve it and i dont really think people even like there systems other than the few fanboys who sucks sony cock for games lol grate job nintendo 3ds is an amazing system and i hope wii u will but just as good if not better than any other game system made ever

  2. Never had any doubt the 3DS would get to this point once the good games started coming out. Nintendo owns the handheld market.

    Leave luck to heaven.

      1. The price cut definitely played a part. But, I think it was the lack of stellar titles at launch that was the major factor. They better not do that with Wii U.

  3. Just keep in mind that the DS and 3DS launched at different times of the year. In a few months DS will once again be the fastest.

        1. My point: By now, 3DS has sold more units than the DS had after the same amount of time had passed post launch. In a few months though, DS will have it’s holiday period which will make it go past the 3DS.

  4. I will buy mine as quickly as I can, I need a job, my parents will not buy it for me, they hate videogames T.T
My desktop and laptop are my salvation for gaming, I don’t have a system since my SNES, my mother owes me a N64 that I win in a bet long ago, and she don’t pay yet, wait, she gave me my laptop, damn, I really need a job

    1. Hahaha. I checked out the Vita. The store demo at the Game Stop I was at had no games, just a video. There are no games, it’s way expensive, especially with all the proprietary memory card b.s. I will say it’s very light for its size (it’s much bigger that 3DS), it has a nice screen and buttoms, and it feels good in your hands. But it’s way too much, and Nintendo has a great catalogue of games on the way and the eShop is catching fire. I’ve only bought three 3DS games, but I’ve downloaded like 10.

  6. I am so eleated with my 3DS. I geek out on it daily. I love it far more than I ever thought I would. I just got Mario Kart 7 used, and it’s really nice. Probably the best graphically on the system to date. I’m stoke for Paper Mario and Heroes of Ruin. I think they’re just starting to tap what this thing can do.

  7. If I could get my whole family to read this… I had an argument with them about this exact topic. My bro believes that apple is the only handheld gaming market. Thats bull.

  9. Sweet! I knew from E3 2010 that the system would be a best. I got a little worried when it launched about it’s sales but now I’m confident it will do better than it’s predecessor.
