EA Opens New Gothenburg Studio For Next Gen Frostbite 2 Games

EA has announced that it’s setting up a new studio in Gothenburg to create new games for next generation consoles, which will use the fantastic Frostbite 2 engine. We had our first glimpse at the Frostbite 2 engine with Battlefield 3, which was released last year. Hopefully they’re preparing something as equally stunning for Wii U, which is due out later this year.

    1. im not going to attack u for saying “first” cos there is absolutely no reason to. why do people get frustrated when someone says “first” enjoy being first :)

  1. Does anybody think the wiiu will even be able to run the frostbite 2 or any of the new engines? Because from what I understand you would need a hell of a console to run the new unreal engine….but I’m not hardware expert so who knows.

    1. no next gen console will be able to run the samaritan demo made with the latest unreal engine, but down scaled a bit and wii u should be able to run it. frostbite 2 should easily run on wii u though

      1. The requirements to run that demo aren’t unattainable based upon rumored wiiU specs(NeoGafs speculation). Of course it would run @ 720p/30fps, but I could accept that.

      2. are you mentally retarded?

well the Wii U is coming out years after the PS3 & 360…if it isnt slightly better then either, I would be shocked…kind of..

    2. Yes it can run them. The engines are scalable. It just *most likely* will run at a lower setting. Its not going to be another wii situation.

    3. didn’t thay say that battle filed 3 was running it wasent that on PS3 and Xbox360 then yes Wii U will be able to do it to

  3. If EA decides to develop a new game using the Frostbite 2.0 engine on the Wii U, it’s a definite must have!

  4. I look forward to seeing what comes of this. This is unrealistic but what if the next Zelda game ran on the frostbite engine? That would kick ass.
