According to forum member over at DKVine EB Games are now accepting pre-orders for a Donkey Kong game for the Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo themselves haven’t mentioned such a game, but the image shows the pre-order box-art sitting on store shelves along with the forthcoming Kid Icarus: Uprising and Smash Bros 3DS. Perhaps we will hear something about the game at E3 in June, presuming it’s legitimate.

Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time are RPG games. Here’s why. Zelda 2 is an RPG, you talk to villagers and complete your quests one at a time. Mario 64, same thing but with toads. Ocarina of Time also follows the rules from the second LoZ game.

I personally would kill for a Donkey Kong 64 sequel, it was my first game for the N64 and is still one of my favorite games!
I second a sequel to DK 64. That was a good game. It was along the lines of Banjo Kazooie. Even made by the same developer at the time.
But considering, it may still be better for Wii U

Yeah, Mr. Sakurai just finished work on Kid Icarus not even 6 weeks ago, so I don’t expect to hear anything about the next Smash game before E3 2013. This casts a lot of doubt on the DK3D box sitting right next to it. I’ll also assume that a Donkey Kong game would be spearheaded by Retro Studios, and I don’t think that’s what they’re working on right now. They’ve been very secretive about it but they have said it’s ‘something the fans really want to see’. That could be Donkey Kong game, but I was expecting something a little more surprising / mind-blowing to be honest. There’s also the possibility that another studio is taking the helm.
At any rate, all speculation, and this photo is nothing to get excited about I’m afraid. Probably a couple of Gamestop employees having a bit of fun.
I have eternal love for the Donkey Kong series. Donkey Kong country was one of favourite SNES games.

I hope retro studios is working on this new title for N3DS, I believe they are as talented as the old RARE to make games.

I have DKC returns but haven’t played it in a while… Did they have the original characters in it? I thought they can’t bring them in because of licensing issues with Rare. It would be sick if they could because the original DKC’s were some of my favorite games of all time.

My guess is Donkey Kong 64 3D or a sequel to DK64. As much as i’d love another country game I don’t see it happening :(
DK64 seems unlikely, since that was done by Rare.And considering the return of DK Country on Wii, another Country is the more likely way to go
With the word 3D in it I don’t see the point in making a 2d game.
The DKC trilogy was also made by Rare and it got a game for Wii, don’t crush my hopes!

Im hoping for a 3D form of all of the awesome DK characters that were sadly lacking in the (still wonderful) DKCR, like King K. Rool, Tiny Kong, Chunky Kong, and, my personal favorite, Lanky Kong. I would be fin with a DK64 remake too. Sadly, my better judgment tells me that this is totally fake. Why would a company take preorders for a game that most people don’t even know if it exist?

And I think a remake is less likely than a sequel, but I would still buy it though!
About time. Donkey Kong 3D should’ve been a launch title. I hope next Donkey Kong game is in the style of the original Donkey Kong game. That’d be mint.
Part of me really wants it to be Donkey Kong 64. I’ve been really wanting to play it (and Resident Evil 2) but there isn’t really a legal way to do it. So it’d be nice to be able to play it. But then part of me also wants to see series like Donkey Kong, Star Fox, etc. get their dues. We get tons of Mario and Zelda games but the other franchises are lacking. I want a new Metroid, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, Kirby, etc. for the 3DS. I’d be happy either way, I guess. Both would be ideal. Do something original, then release a remake in about a year or two.

3D could be used in a Donkey Kong Country game in the same way that Mutant Mudds used 3D. Donkey Kong Country Returns for Wii already had you jumping into the background, so 3D that would add depth would be an excellent addition.
Also If this is a Donkey Kong 64 remake that would be awesome! Rare is allowed to make games for Nintendo handhelds, and they have done so in the past. They’ve made Banjo Kazooie: Grunty’s Revenge for the Gameboy Advance and Diddy Kong Racing DS, just to name a few.
If this does end up to be true, and the game is a Donkey Kong 64 remake, the Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie are also possible. And I would give all of my money to Nintendo if the Banjo Kazooie games come out.

The way that article sounds makes it seem like lies, and Nintendo definitely would have announced it before putting it up for pre-order.

A mix of DKC Series, DK64, and King Of Swing hopfully. Bring Dixie as a playable character. Also I wouldn’t mind Candy Kong in there (not as a playable character of course.). Hell put all of the Kongs in there. And more animal buddies this time, DKCR was lacking. And for the love of god bring the Kremlings and Bees back. They are and important part of the franchise. Also, it should have a descent amount of multyplayer. I know its asking alot but if it has all of these things it should be beast!
