New Super Mario Bros 2 Coming To North America In August, Kirby Later This Year

Nintendo of America has just issued a press release stating that New Super Mario Bros 2 for the Nintendo 3DS will be coming to North America in August. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a traditional side-scrolling adventure game featuring Mario, Luigi and loads of other favorite characters from the popular Mario series.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the cute-but-powerful Kirby character, Nintendo will release a special anniversary software disc for Wii later this year. The disc will contain a variety of previously released, fan-favorite Kirby games. Additional Kirby anniversary activities will be revealed at a later date.

“A new Mario game and a big Kirby celebration will help make 2012 an especially great year for Nintendo fans. Whether they’re playing at home on Wii or using Nintendo 3DS to have fun on the go, players can look forward to experiencing some of our biggest franchises in exciting ways.”

– Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing.

        1. NintendoLover9000!!!

And let’s hope with the Nintendo Network, they add online multiplayer. that would be AWESOME!! ^.^

          1. Maybe to you, but to me, Super Mario World is one of the first games I ever played and will always be my favorite game from my child. Super Mario Bros. 3 being better than Mario World is your opinion and I respect that, I just have to disagree.

    1. Its technically not a sequel. NSMBWii is a game on its own. I see NSMB2 as the sequel to NSMBWii and NSMB, so sorta like a bi-sequel. However, NSMBWii may be in its own series, being followed up by NSMBWiiU

  1. Why didn’t they just made the title simply “New Super Mario Brothers “3”DS” rather than making it 2. It’s starting to look like NSMBWii was a spin-off rather than a sequel.

    1. I don’t recall NSMBWii was ever a sequel to begin with. No one ever said it was, nor was there a reason to think it was. It’s not like it continued anything from NSMB for DS.

  2. things are looking great for nintendo, what with these games and pokemon BW2, not to mention the Wii U and whatever other new games that will be announced at E3.

this is a year of nintendo

    1. As Paper Mario isn’t made by the same team. Instead it’s made by Intelligent Systems, who also make Nintendo Wars and Fire Emblem.
