Beyond Good & Evil 2 Needs More Hardware Power To Run

Ubisoft has revealed in a recent video that the development team need additional hardware power to run the game, suggesting that the game will be in development for next generation consoles. The original Beyond Good & Evil came to the Gamecube back in 2003 so hopefully we will eventually see the sequel on Wii U.

Can you tell us on which platforms BG&E 2 will be released?

“We won’t make promises that we can’t keep. We are in an active creation stage and at this moment we are only focusing on the game and making it the best game that we can. That decision would just distracts us from that objective. I can say that it’s a very ambitious game and we need some tech to achieve that ambition.”

This last teaser video is very reminiscent of Mirror’s Edge. Is it an influence for your game?

“No, not at all. We had this concept even before Mirror’s Edge launched. And we have a different approach to the first person perspective that Mirror’s Edge has. Prince of Persia and Assassin’s Creed are closer to what we have in mind with the control of the character in a third person perspective. We use a very dynamic camera that shakes a lot during the action to add life to the camera giving the impression of an action news cover team following Jade. Maybe that could be similar to Mirror’s Edge but the game itself is very different.”

“We focus on the game. We create it first, then we’ll see what can run it ”

“We don’t say 2013 because we don’t know when it will come. We’re working to create a great game and it needs more tech “

    1. You are even more annoying than people who try to get the first comment, it’s just… what the fuck is your point?

  1. I really hope Wii U gets it. Loved the first one, and people are clamouring for a sequel. I’ve been waiting a long time for it too. Leave luck to heaven.

          1. Your Kyuubi transformation looked amazing. Loved the flowing coat like the 4th Hokage. You kicked those talied beasts’ asses. Kick Tobi’s ass for me too, would ya?

  2. this game has been in development for such a long time I completly forgot it even existed. glad to see it hasn’t been canned though.

    1. Critics think the GC version is the best version of Beyond and Evil, so it’s obvious that a Wii U version will exist.

    1. Yeah… the PS4 and 720 will have it. The battle ” Wii U VS PS3/360″ it’s dead. Now it’s ” Wii U VS PS4 VS 720″

    2. no shit Sherlock, obviously a system that hasnt even come out yet is gonna run BG&E2 better than 6yr old consoles.

  3. I don’t know. Ubisoft has a wiiu dev kit, but the way they are saying it here it sounds like none of their current tech can support it. I hope I’m wrong but from the sound of it, the wiiu might not be strong enough to handle it which worries me.

    1. It could mean that they have to wait for more next gen consoles to be released. To make a buck these days third parties have to go multi-platform.
