Wii U Nintendo Direct Roundup

Nintendo released a global Nintendo Direct video revealing new information about the upcoming Wii U game console, including details about the system’s touch-screen controller, the Wii U GamePad. In the video, Nintendo Global President Satoru Iwata illustrates how Wii U will revolutionize how people connect with games, each other and entertainment through the system’s unique and integrated second-screen controller. The Nintendo Direct video included information about:

New ways to play: With the television and the Wii U GamePad working as two integrated screens, Wii U creates unique possibilities for gaming, allowing “asymmetric” game play where each player can have different goals, challenges and views within the same shared gaming experience.

Miiverse: Miiverse is a brand-new network communication system that lets gamers from around the world share experiences, discuss games and discover new content. Using their personalized Mii character, players enter Miiverse and see games, applications or entertainment content that either they have interacted with recently, expressed interest in learning more about or that their friends are using or discussing. From here they can challenge their friends to play together, ask a question about a difficult level or discover new elements of their favorite games they never knew existed. After a notable achievement or other share-worthy moment, players can pause their game or application and seamlessly post messages to the Miiverse community.

Wii U GamePad controls: In addition to the previously announced touch-screen and motion controls, the Wii U GamePad was redesigned and improved from its reveal in 2011. The new form factor offers players dual analog stick controls and can be used as a remote control for users’ TVs, even while the Wii U console is turned off. Nintendo also announced availability of the Wii U Pro Controller as a separate peripheral.

Wii compatibility: All game discs for the Wii system are compatible with Wii U, and the system will support controllers for the Wii system.

          1. Non-Specific Action Figure

Nop unless you get a Non-Specific Action Figure on every Wii U that you buy Who approves?

            Together Wii U.

              1. i wish to see starfox and samus together but acording to the news those rumours were nothing but lies

  1. I love how Nintendo goes from the crappiest and laziest Internet service to the Most interestin and intuitive internet service. It’s like They were trollin us with the Wii. I mean, look at the effort actually put into the WiiU

    1. Nintendo was always the best. They’ve picked up on the areas they were lacking in, but overall they were always the best gaming company.

      1. that’s right! nintendo is the best game company and they have the most characters! plus with the 609 pokemons+.no1 will pass nintendo with it!anyway i hope the wiiU will succeed and gamer to shut the fuck off for saying that games need graphics and come to his senses!!!

      2. Indeed. But I’m still excited for the other big consoles. I wanna see what new things were brought into the makes, specifically from sony since I own a ps3

        1. Oh don’t get me wrong. I’m excited for sony and MS conferences too. I always keep my eyes on what the competition is doing. I like sony and MS, but prefer Nintendo more.

Oh and we need to stop replying to that Aeolus guy. No matter how great they do, Nintendo will always have that one guy on their website trying to tell you that everything they do is crap. I spent all night talking to that guy and its obvious he’s not going to accept any thing you tell him. So what’s the point?

              1. i am sure that he must be a sony fanboy or something.or a modern kid.hmmm.ty god i was born on 1996 and i know something from the past games.:)

    1. THATS GREAT.BECAUSE I CAN PLAY NO MRE HEROES 3 EXCLUSIVE ON THE WIIU AND SUPER SMASH BROS 4 AS SUDA SAID.I WANT NO MORE HEROES 3 EXCLUSIVE FOR WIIU.PS3 AND 360 WERE SUCKED ON THIS GAME!

  2. To be honest, the Direct presentation was incredibly the best. Especially the finalized Wii U Game Pad (gPad ?) and the ultra cool features this device contains. A lot of people were extremely shocked to see the Wii U Pro Controller. It was causing controversy due to the shape and say “they’re ripping off the Xbox 360 controller”. A controller is a controller. It’s not even a freakin’ popularity contest. The other features in the U were simply breathtaking… Miiverse, video chat, Wii U OS, etc. Overall, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata have done an outstanding job with the re-introduction of the Wii U and some of the many features the device contains. I’ll look forward to tomorrow’s press conference with Iwata-san and The Regginator.

The A-Bomb will be dropped within 24 hours. My body is ready…..

      1. patcher was wrong.AGAIN! i cant wait for more informatuin about the U in the e3 press conference.YES SHOW THEM NINTENDO! THAT PRO CONTROLLER WAS AWESOME AND I THINK IT WILL BE WIRLESS JUST XBOX 360 AND NOT AS WII PRO CONTROLLER!

    1. Don’t you mind those haters. It’s those people that hate to hear that MS/Sony copied Nintendo. If you look at the facts, the 360/PS controller is a clone of the Super Nintendo Controller. Nothing new there. Which the classic controller pro is also quite similar to this Wii U Controller Pro.

      1. You have made a great point right there, Greg. Let the haters hate. Nintendo is king and I’m sure the system have already changed… but that’s just a tip of the iceberg. The raw power of the Wii U will make a very deep impact at high noon (EDT) tomorrow.

        1. wii u wont have raw nothin. its a peice of crap shitty console that nobudy will bai. suck the tip of my ice burg nintendo cock sucker!

        2. Lol upadwatcher. I bet your pretty mad after you read that by Aeolus. That was actually ME! ahah! U mad, bro? Just teasing you! We both know Nintendo’s success will be of extravagant proportions come the release! c:

          1. Can I kill you right now blade? I was only messing with you. I didn’t know that you had to use that Aeolus identity. Might as well close the case because the main course is coming tomorrow. Peace.

  3. Nintendo3dsblog.com claims iwata confirmed miiverse would be coming to thr 3ds. But I watched the show and never got that impression.

    1. its true. in fact it was confirmed for 3ds, wii U, and all “future nintendo devices”, whatever that may mean^^

      1. No that was the Nintendo Network stuff – they are different (however they didn’t explain what the Nintendo Network would allow at this time – just a way to connect different Nintendo devices). He said the Miiverse will be linked to the 3DS and all internet enabled mobile devices (and PC’s) but not at launch – the capacity he outlined implied it was more a way to see and respond to messages than it was the feature moving to the 3DS.

    2. He said that it will be coming to the 3ds and any other mobile device with internet functionality.
