        1. Indeed, this kindof pisses me off. It’s Nintendo trying to hide that hte specifications are not all that great (still looking forward to Wii U though).
But you really get hardly any info from this.

  1. It’s a relief to see that “external USB storage” part of the memory segment. I read a report earlier saying it could only be augmented by SD cards, and this is sweet relief.

    1. Can’t say for certain until in-depth specs for CPU/GPU are released. One site described the CPU as a triple-core IBM POWER7 (same amount as the 360, but obviously faster) and a R7xx series Radeon HD (4000 range of cards like HD4850)

It won’t be supporting DX11 with that card; thus not much of a chance of UE4. But it will be about 2-3x that of a 360/PS3.

    2. To be honest not much is revealed here but from what I have read elsewhere basically the system is more powerful than the ps3 and 360 as the graphics chip is newer architecture and based on the latest AMD 7000 series gpu.

  2. I find it disturbing how they didn’t even bother detailing what series of Radeon HD it runs.

Safe to say it won’t be 6770, though. No Unreal Engine 4 for the fanboys.

      1. No, many sites are outright stating it to be a R700 series GPU. 6770 is basically a rebranded HD4850, but it supports DX11 instead.

                  1. lmfao. Aelous, you KNOW this guy, darthgavin, is technically right. There are NO confirmations of any graphics card. Literally anything goes. <–Non biased opinion, rather, actual-factual-statement.

                    1. He is still wrong, because he implies Nintendo is going to detail CPU/GPU specs, which I made clear is something they never do. Only the people who actually have manufactured the system’s components will outright tell us the specs.

In any case, this is going to be weak sauce, everything else is too cheap to be next-gen.

                      USB 2.0.
                      No Optical Out.
                      No Hard Drive.

…Yeah, I’m sure you guys can expect a powerful GPU…err not.

    1. You are probably right…. This is why it will fall in the 300-400 range. The price for a shitcomputer. But that shit computer can never hold Nintendo games. That is the bottom line!!! People still love links awakening. As a single example. Affordable! That’s what can save Nintendo. The new Xbox will have the unreal engine 4 but with a 599 price tag 18 months from now

      1. Because he likes Nintendo and thinks this is a good site with quick news? Fanboys are annoying as fuck, deal with it.
Fans are fine in every aspect, but it’s the moment when everything that is not Ninty, or what states they don’t like one Ninty product, is being bashed without rational arguments, that it gets annoying.

  3. Looks pretty powerful to me. The spec snobs can dissect it. Now we have concrete proof that it supports 1080p. Hopefully we get more game reveals at the Developers roundtable. Leave luck to heaven.

    1. 1080p isn’t impressive if PCs have done that for a decade. And consoles 5-6 years ago for that matter. Stop bringing it up like it’s something special; because it isn’t anymore, lol.

      1. actually this will be the first console to be able to output at full true 1080p. the 360 and ps3 have a native resolution of 720p and some games are upscaled to 1080.

        1. There are quite a few PS3 games that can do 1080p natively, I’d advise you to do your research. In any case, this still isn’t anything impressive.

          1. Your both right most of the newer PS3 and Xbox360 games are not running in true 1080p…both are capable of displaying in1080P and some titles do display in full 1080p. reguardless you can’t tell that much of a difference unless you have a huge TV. The FPS matters more then resolution IMO. I do however agree it likely won’t run URE4. Until we actually have a price ( to judge what’s in it) or the official card we won’t know for certain. I’m sure we’ll know for sure soon. Frankly it doesn’t matter to me I’m getting one anyways.

        1. I would post a link, but the comments section here instantly deletes it for whatever reason. But you could easily research it over google. or the Beyond3D forums.

          1. There are about a half dozen games that natively output 1080p on the 360; non that anyone would want to play (seriously, one of them is a tennis game).

PS3 has a few more, but again: nothing worth mentioning.

Consoles have NOT been able to do 1080p for years. Not properly anyway, and not for any games that look as good as the games we play today.

The Wii U DOES do 1080p with those great looking games. And then some, probably. And with a second screen as well. Neither PS3 or 360 could even begin to TRY and do that, especially not at 30+ FPS (which the Wii U will obviously do, because anything less would likely not make the market).

            1. Actually no, it’s more like 1080p native games simply being harder to develop and frankly, unnecessary. They can very well do it, it’s just none of the developers feel the need to go the extra mile just for such an incremental difference.

And btw, there is nothing to suggest every Wii U game will do this either. Stop being fanboys, please. You guys toss around these terms and never actually know the truth in it. It can do it, nobody however said the majority or all of the games will be running 1080p natively, and I’m pretty positive the majority weren’t actually doing that at all.

              1. To add to that, these consoles suffer memory/processor constraints, the PCs at the time didn’t so they’ll obviously perform better in this regard.

            2. There are arcade games that display at 1080p. Banjo-Kazooie is one that does that and anti-aliasing but that’s because it’s still at N64 levels of graphics.

      2. It’s the first Nintendo console to do it and a lot of people were wondering if it could support 1080p. Solid technical specs means there is no excuse for Wii U to not get the same 3rd party support the current systems do.

      3. You’re obviously a fanboy. Making irrational assumptions of a system’s hardware that you clearly have no idea about.

    2. What times the dev round table? It is still bit vague no ideo on CPU speeds or cores how much ram is in it whether its commonly used DDR2 or newer ddr3, how much memory does the gpu have on its own what’s the standard flash size for memory we should hear at dev round table

      1. The roundtable is at 1:30 am pst I think…? Either way, it’s not being broadcasted so you have to wait until the journalists start sharing info. The 3DS hour tomorrow at 6pm pst will be broadcasted, however :)

          1. 1:30 EST. PST is 3 hours earlier, I think… But in any case, just go to bed. It won’t be broadcasted and reports won’t be made till the morning when they reporters wake up :P

      2. The developers roundatble is at 9pm tonight iirc, but I don’t think it’s being streamed or broadcast anywhere. Nintendo hasn’t revealed those in depth specs yet.

  4. “Nearly” all Wii accessories and software. I wonder what the exceptions are? I really can’t think of an accessory that wouldn’t work on the Wii U if you’re playing the Wii game it was designed for.

      1. Oh, that’s right, because the Wiimote snaps into the udraw pad, and etc. But if the wiimotes work with the WiiU too…? I don’t know, it must be silly technical stuff. I only have a blaster and a CCP along with some wiimotes, and I’m keeping my Wii when I get the WiiU, so I’m not too worried.

  5. Same old ass non information spec sheet from last year. Nothing to see here. What a waste of a link click. Next time post real specs or nothing at all.

  6. No Internal Hard Drive!
    Seriously Nintendo!
Oh well by the looks of it External HDD should be supported

      1. Yeah! A whopping 8GB of Flash Memory for all of those digital titles and retail games they plan to sell!

        Should serve you well!

        1. Did you even read the part about USB storage options? Basically, if you have a bit of money, you could even have one terabyte(or more) of space. I prefer this, as I don’t have to pay $100 more for just the system and I can take my data with me.

            1. Yeah, my built in and upgradeable laptop HDD that my PS3 uses that currently has 1TB of storage. With the previous 120GB one still laying around, have fun needing to spend extra with what should be included in a next gen console, fantard. :P

          1. It should be built in. This is next gen. This is nigh inexcusable and only serves to add to the overall cost to the system.

            1. @Aelus

nice troll Aeolus, apparently you don’t know anything about your own system, let alone the Wii U.

You just confirmed how an idiot you are..you upgraded the internal hdd of the ps3..that just proves that the Wii U with usb external storage support is a must and in the right right direction. LIke many have states, why buy a newer sku(xbox360 has over 6 skus, ps3 has over 3 skus) just for more hdd spaces( idiots like you i guess..)

I believe Nintendo knows what they are doing, and the Wii U will do well, even better than the Wii.

You can continue to try to dissapprove others of your idiot comments and opinions, at the end of the day, you’re still an idiot.

I think all the porn’s in that so called “1TB” of hdd in your PS3 is calling you, go enjoy it.

    1. Yeah. Nintendo don’t really like to go in depth on the specs of their consoles. Most likely we won’t know until a tech head with some money to spare buys one and takes it apart.

    1. it all depends on how maney Wii U control pads it can handle witch is two daus it all so doo 60frams with those two controlers if so then at 1080p that is very strong possible it daus if so we are talking about a beast possible r6870 or better if not then how knows

  7. dammit nintendo, why is there no ethernet port for direct wired internet connection. still though the beast outputs 1080p which is all you need to know on it’s graphical prowess. can’t wait.

      1. It’s not really faster than your average Wi-fi connection, though.

The interesting part is that Wii U supports 802.11n! If you have a more modern router, you wouldn’t even need to worry about connection speed.

  8. This isn’t really specs. This is just confirming brands and such.

-No specs on game disc storage size
    -No model number for GPU
-No specs for what the controller’s screen resolution is, or its range of flexibility (if it has any)
    -No clock rates
    -No memory (RAM) size

    …etc.

  9. Here are other detailed, leaked specs:
    – Some Chips
    – a special case made of plastic
    – cables

Rumour has it that Nintendo may also use a few buttons and that the console will be purchasable in cardboard boxes.
