Ubisoft has confirmed that their new horror game, ZombiU, will be a launch title for Wii U. IGN recently interviewed Ubisoft’s senior vice president of sales and marketing, Tony Key, and asked whether ZombiU will go to other platforms. Key said that it will first be a Wii U title and there is a possibility of it releasing on other platforms in the future.
“ZombiU at its core was designed to be a great Wii U game and in order to make that work on other platforms they would have to change a lot of what makes the game cool,” he said. “And I’m not saying that can’t be done, but not in the next six months, you know?”

Today has been a really bad day for Nintendo fans, again. *Sigh* no Animal Crossing until 2013.
G4 listed it as multiplatform. Wonder what they’ll do about the “U” for other consoles.

It was annoying enough that they got rid of the Killer Freaks for Zombies. And now Nintendo could lose a hardcore exclusive. It’d still play best on the Wii U since it was initially designed for it, but still. I’m fine with companies trying to maximize profit. That makes sense, but promising an exclusive and taking it away, that’s just cold to the Wii U fanbase that was looking forward to having their own, unique, third-party game for their system. However, if you bring back the Freaks and the funny comments that the character made I will forgive you. I’m not really one much for zombies anyhow.

This happens all the time, it is a third party after all. No More Heroes, Little Kings Story, Goldeneye & NBA Jam were all made available on other consoles too. Red Steel & Muramasa were both two games that were apparently under consideration for multi-console but didn’t.
If you don’t want this to happen with ZombiU, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. It would be unlikely to happen within a year, I think, plus the other versions would be half-arsed and without its original shine. I bet anything that both Sony & Microsoft are both on Ubisoft hard now after seeing how much love they are getting, trying to steel some rights.
I personally don’t want this to happen, purely because doing so would take away Ubisoft resources needed to help get games out for WiiU, that I would love too experience with the GamePad. Games like Far Cry 3, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Ghost Recon Online and Watch Dogs.
Whatever happens, I’m fine with. I’ll be getting ZombiU on WiiU regardless and enjoying the living crap out of it.
PS: Doesn’t ZombiU remind you of ARMA on PC, in its concept. That 15 min IGN demo was amazing.

The longer E3 goes, the more disappointing info comes out for Nintendo :/
First it’s launch games running at only 720p (ridiculous considering 6 year old consoles are doing that now)
Then it’s about 2 tablets dropping the frame rate to 30fps
Then it’s no real hard-hitting first party titles for the 5 month launch window (that New Super Mario Bros. U doesn’t count; that’s a lame Wii game sequel with a few new features; hardly a grand intro into the HD realm)
Now there’s this.
Oh I expect the next sad news will be that Watch Dogs will not be available for Wii U. That would be terrible.
Nintendo, you should have come out swinging. Instead you sauntered in. You better find some steam quick; majority of the “core” audience that MS and Sony dominate has already written you off.

I’m curious to see how they would manage the dual-screen approach on mobile platforms. Could an iOS version work in conjunction w/ Apple TV?
I would put up an argument about the need to change the name for porting, but I might expand this to the name in general as it sounds more like a prototype name than the actual prototype name, Killer Freaks From Outer Space. I know it’s a nod to Ubisoft’s first game, Zombi, but it still comes off as a bit bland.
I’m still stoked to play the game, but it’s a minor gripe.
360 will use smart glass and ps3 will use vita.
I know that’s what they’d use, so I don’t see a problem in multi-console ports. My concern was with how they’d do mobile ports, given what Yves said this week.
If the person playing owned a 360, I guess it wouldn’t be a problem playing with a tablet, but there’s plenty of people who play exclusively on such devices so that’s who I wonder about for such a game. That’s why I said iOS might find a solution in Apple TV.

While it’s sadf to hear this, I understand. Their first concern isn’t loyalty, but making money. This is why Nintendo needed something like Metroid, Zelda, or Starfox. People are more inclined to buy the Wii U, if I can only play this certain game on your system. For example, I have a ps3 (Wii too) and I plan to get the last of us. Now, I’m thinking about getting an xbox due to how cool halo 4 looked. Still plan to get the Wii U, but I no longer have that feeling of needing to get it on day 1. Hopefully, Nintendo wiill release some promising info in the near future, prior to launch, that will bring back that feeling.

I highly doubt it, for example, to expect that people would buy the VITA/PS3 combo its just stupid, you cant expect people to buy 2 consoles for 1 game… and in 360, i will just say… tablets, even if they do work, how would you play a game with the 360pad and a tablet its beyond me…
ZombiU its what it is because the WiiU, and while you could do replicate that on the PS3, and i a completely akward way on the 360, expecting to buy 2 consoles for just 1 game its (economically talking) stupid, the cost to port a game are high enough and on the PS3 its even more complicated…
you dont expect a console to release all its power by using it with other console… thats whats the WiiU its all about
ZombieU looked shit anyway, kinda how Red Steel look good in the trailer but the game was shit, even the Sequel was shit as well.
Ubisoft is a shit company since they never make a game that interest me. Hell the only game that they made that interest me was Prince of Persia: Sand of Time.
