Eternal Darkness 2 Canceled?

In 2011, Silicon Knights began working on a new game for a next generation console. The studio had early Wii U development kits, which made it safe to assume that they were working with Nintendo on Eternal Darkness 2 for Wii U. Silicon Knights once had over 100 employees but was forced to decrease its number to 40. The studio is in another position where layoffs are their only option, which apparently made Nintendo cancel Eternal Darkness 2 – at least for now.

          1. and if metacritic told you to jump off a cliff would you do that too? reviews are crap. Play the games yourself and judge.

  1. Would it be wise for Nintendo to purchase the company and include them as apart of their 1st Party development teams or is that too farfetched?

  2. Son of a motherfuckin fuck, that was the main reason why I wanted a Wii U. (Well, one of the main reasons)

You know, assuming it was being made at all, I mean.

Out of all the possible games to cancel, they had to cancel THAT ONE?

Do they live in a hole or something where they don’t realize how important games like Eternal Darkness are? Hole-y crap.

Both parties can learn a lesson from this:
Nintendo, BUY SILICON KNIGHTS NOW AND JUST MAKE THEM YOUR INEVITABLE NEXT FIRST-PARTY COMPANY.
And Silicon, ALWAYS STICK WITH NINTENDO FROM NOW ON. AT LEAST THEN YOU WON’T BE MAKING CRAPPY GAMES LIKE X-MEN DESTINY OR TOO HUMAN AND GET CAUGHT UP IN UNNECESSARY UNREAL ENGINE 3 LEGAL BATTLES.

        1. erm its a blog where you can air an opinion… dont like it? tough darkness fanboy. I bought it and was one of the worse GC games I ever bought. They left Nintendo so tough!

Now how the hell do you know that Silicon Knights was working with Nintendo to make Eternal Darkness 2?

Did it ever occur to you that maybe that they where making a different game?

  5. And the source for this story is?

Let’s be realistic right now, Nintendo knows there is a large group of gamers just begging for a sequel, but is it large enough to justify a full fledged game? I’m not sure. I personally assumed we would see an HD remake first on Xbox 360, followed by a sequel if that remake did well – that hasn’t happened yet.

And yes, I know Eternal Darkness was on the Gamecube, but Silicon Knights haven’t done anything for Nintendo since the Gamecube era and has instead work on Microsoft’s console. And during this era, they’ve only made two games, the okay “Too Human” and the critically abysmal “X-Men Destiny”. Considering these recent “flops”, would we really want a sequel from them? Maybe if they got some serious support, but with the string of layoffs and court issues – I just don’t think they have what it takes to make the blockbuster Eternal Darkness 2 we all had hoped for.

Let’s just hope if they do close shop, they are bought out by a strong 3rd party (or even a company like Nintendo) and that their franchises are developed by a more stable company.
