Nintendo Teams Up With Nickelodeon’s Music Sensation Big Time Rush

This summer, Nickelodeon’s teen music phenomenon Big Time Rush is sharing its excitement about Nintendo’s Mario Kart 7 game in a big way, giving fans from coast to coast a chance to join Mario and his Mushroom Kingdom friends for new kart-racing fun on land, in the air and under the sea.

Known as the stars of Nickelodeon’s hit television series Big Time Rush, the band is teaming up with Nintendo to offer free hands-on demos of Mario Kart 7 for the Nintendo 3DS system on its upcoming U.S. tour, “Big Time Summer Tour”. From July 5 to Aug. 5, attendees at select Big Time Rush concerts can visit Nintendo 3DS demo stations and experience the game’s wild Mario-themed action, multiplayer features and kart customization options firsthand.

A Mario Kart 7 sampling station and mobile sampling teams will be available at participating concert venues, giving fans a unique chance to play the game, enjoy special photo opportunities and compete for prizes. Fans will also be able to download Mii characters based on the members of Big Time Rush – Kendall, Logan, James and Carlos – and fans who bring their own Nintendo 3DS systems to the concerts will be able to wirelessly access content for Nintendo 3DS via Nintendo Zone hotspots. Additionally, viewers can look forward to seeing Big Time Rush in an upcoming television ad campaign for Mario Kart 7.

“Big Time Rush fans will discover a new kind of rush when they tear up the track with Mario. The frenetic fun of Mario Kart 7 makes a great match with the band’s energetic music. The chance to get hands-on with Nintendo 3DS will make each of these concerts even more memorable for attendees, whether they’re experienced gamers or newcomers.”

– Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing

“We couldn’t be more excited to take Mario Kart 7 out on the road for our tour this summer. We are all huge Nintendo fans and our new partnership provides a cool way to share the fun of Nintendo 3DS with people all over the country.”

    1. I watch Big Time Rush occasionally. It’s actually not that bad and pretty funny, and the type of humor and sound effects makes it feel like a spiritual successor to Ned’s Declassified. But it’s not something I would obsess over. At least it’s better than what Disney is whipping up these days…

  1. This made my day… two of my favoritest things in the world combined!! i gave Carlos Pena a Luigi action figure when he signed my Elevate album and he commented and how cool my Mario Shirt was! ohh wow…<3 *16 year old Fangirl moment*

  2. when i read this headline i was expecting some Big Time Rush themed singing game, what it actually was, was completely different.

  3. Oh God, I’m in despair….. Nick is SHIT nowadays. Anything made after 2006/7 is garbage. I’d be thrilled if this event was hosted by say….. Drake and Josh or Kenan and Kel.

  4. This is pretty cool. Get more young people to enjoy a good MarioKart game. Smart move, Nintendo. Leave luck to heaven.

  5. Nintendo… just stop for a second. Your target audience is the family, not young screaming girls that every time they see a Jedward, 1D or Justin Biebier photo they freak over it… STOP.. just STOP IT NINTENDO!

Why couldn’t say hirer Morgan Freeman, Jack Black, Metallica, Iron Maiden or even Vin Diesel! Hell why don’t they let the family from Outnumbered advertise Nintendo’s games, not One Direction, Jedward, Her from Shit.. I mean Sex in the City, Big Time Rush.

I want to see Robin Williams in more of your ads Nintendo!

    1. The reason why they’re teaming up with BTR and Kim Cattrall, is because 3DS is currently more popular among male consumers; whereas DS is about 50/50 and sometimes even higher for females. Teaming with Metallica doesn’t solve that problem for them, even if does seem cool, what product would they promote? As far as I know Zelda Williams is still promoting the concert tour, but they aren’t going to have Robin in commercials for a game that’s not available.

    2. stop freaking whining, this is a smart move, they need to advertise it to everyone not just a single demographic, and that’s what they’ve been doing for a while now, remember that teaming up with west coast customs?

    3. Nintendo teams up with a lot of people to attract audiences they’re lacking.

For goodness sake, they even teamed up with a comedian from Comedy Central to make a “viral” YouTube video/ad.

  6. Well, I’m not a fan of BTR but so long as its not a singing game surrounding them, and its supporting the sale of 3DSes then I guess thats good

  7. I’m not really a fan of them. In fact, I can’t stand them. Just another random boy group with bad music. But I guess Nintendo is going to make lots of money thanks to them, since they seem to have a big fanbase. Mostly sick fangirls, I’d say. Good for Nintendo, as in making money, but kind of bad for their image in the eyes of their true fans.

    1. meh it shouldnt make you think less of them, its just some advertising who really cares? it doesnt affect the quality of the actual game so it shouldnt be a big deal really

  8. Nickelodeon Sucks anyways, i’ve never liked nick. Cartoon Network it’s better even Disney Channel, Anything on the Tv sucks ass these days

      1. Plus Hub plays tons of classics at night which I love, and their reimaginings of classic shows such as Transformers and GIJoe are amazing.

  9. Cool that would make the girls buy 3ds especially if they can be signed or something by big time rush and also the mii feature will show what the 3ds can do also the hands on with the 3ds (mario kart 7)will do just fine

  10. WTF ? NINTENDO ? WHY BTR ? THEIR AUDIENCE ARE A BUNCH OF GIRLS THAT GO SPASTIC OVER 1D,JUSTIN BEIBER and all that shit …WHY WOULD YOU WANT THEM TO BUY YOUR SYSTEM ? THEY WOULD JUST BUY THE SYSTEM AND LEAVE IT ..they will buy barely any software and just leave it to collect dust …Like every casual gamer and hardware sales are good but software sales are also important ….Cmon nintendo your making yourself look like a casual gamers company ….and it wont even apeal to them that much becouse girls these days only play COD …..WORST IDEA EVER !!!

  11. Viiih Rusher 4ever.. brazil

Woo Hoo…. that good .. is better q 1D and JB .. BTR is my life and now so precisso buy the new game and the wii game party!…… !!!!BRAZIL!!!!!!!
