First Free-To-Play Wii U Game Confirmed

Last month, Satoru Iwata confirmed that the Wii U will support free-to-play games. Virtual Toys, the developer behind Horsez and Imagine: Fashion Designer for Nintendo DS, has announced that they are working on a free-to-play game for Wii U. Virtual Toys claims that their upcoming free-to-play game is a “really big project,” and has revealed that it will be a multi-platform title.

“Our strategy for the future in the F2P [Free-To-Play] business is not only to be there just because we want to be in the F2P area, but also because we want to make games that are quite ahead what you can find in the market right now.”

“In that way we’ve developed a new title which is technologically and graphically state-of-the-art in F2P games. This game is multiplatform (PS3, PS Vita, Wii U, PC, browser) and also in terms of gameplay it’s a different and unique experience on consoles or PC. It’s a really, really big project.”

  1. Whatever, at least it’s a start. CryTek might want to port their next games over, since they are developing free-to-play titles.

    1. It’s basically a game that you can play for free but has optional payments for things in the game. Not to be confused with freeware games, which are fully released for free.

  2. This looks like it could be interesting.

Despite a lot of my other posts, I am not a Nintendo hater. I’m just not very happy with the direction Nintendo is taking right now. At least Nintendo is allowing Free-To-Play games, and hopefully Nintendo will loosen up a bit in other areas as well.

  3. Hello! This post couldn’t be written any better! Reading this post reminds me of my old room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this write-up to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!
