Crytek Now ‘Working With Nintendo’, Crysis 3 Wii U ‘A Possibility’

Crytek producer Mike Read has confirmed that the development studio is now working with Nintendo, and that a version of Crysis 3 for Wii U shouldn’t be ruled out. Read wouldn’t confirm whether or not a Wii U version of Crysis 3 was in development for the console, but it’s now sounding reasonably likely.

“I wouldn’t say there’s no chance. I wouldn’t say no chance. I mean the Wii U still doesn’t have any kind of release [date] attached to it at this point. Who knows what the future will bring with it. I can definitely say that we are working with Nintendo, and that’s about all I can say on that front.

“I wouldn’t rule it out, but there has really been no official releases associated with the Wii U yet, and given that we’re releasing Crysis in an eight month time period in February of 2013, we can’t play off of what their schedules are. I wouldn’t rule it out, but you know, it is a possibility.”

    1. Thats the kind of game that I really doesnt care on consoles….

Its a graphicfest, better play on a hgh end pc!

      1. like crysis 2 was a graphicfest?

        wait no it wasn’t :O

to be honest i couldn’t care less about crytek games anymore

they used to be a sympathetic team of developers, but with all of yerlis craptalk and false promises, and their adverse comments concerning used games and DRM by quite a few people from their team i really lost all of my trust into crytek

    1. Agree fully. We got the last Crysis, what, two years ago? It’s been almost 8 years since Future Perfect.

  1. This was inevitable. Once Crytek saw how powerful the Wii U is they wouldn’t be able to resist bringing their games to the platform. Looking forward to what they come up with, though I’m hoping it’s not an FPS, but it most likely will be. Leave luck to heaven.

      1. Wow.. And Crysis 2 for the PS3 can’t even get like 720p at a stable 30fps! Wow.. Wii U seems really powerful.

        1. Its because its CPU isnt the same, its a CPU, and then theres one built into the GPU, its complicated, its why the Tekken creator said its slower because everyones porting games the way 360 and ps3 did, but its different, it happens all the time, same thing happened with the ps3, people werent fully aware how to utilise it. But refer to my comment below, CryEngine3 has ALOT of settings, that you can push to different levels, its quite infamous for its every setting at ultra will wreck a pc to shreds, so it’ll be optimised and adjusted perfectly to work at 1080 60

          1. Not only that but the Tekken producer isn’t used to the GP-GPU system that the Wii-U will be using along with the other next-gen systems. The 360 and the PS3 use a CP-GPU system, which is why, although the 360 has a somewhat more powerful GPU, the PS3’s noticeably superior CPU allows it run games that could never have ran on the 360 like Uncharted 3.

      2. That’s right. And I think they’ll be able to do even more as they get used to the hardware. They don’t even need to use the Wii U GamePad if they don’t want to. The very sexy Wii U Pro Controller is there.

        1. Exactly, developers and gamers have tons of options when it comes to designing and playing a game, people forget the Wii motion+ is still usable :p that would be my first choice for FPS.

  2. I’m currently enjoying Crysis 2, so I’d be pleased to see Crysis 3 on the Wii U. It really is great that a quality third party developer like Crytek is working on the Wii U, I’m confident they will push the graphical capabilities and considering how good Crysis looks even on the 360 we could be in for a treat with whatever they are cooking up.

      1. Yep, I got the maximum edition. I played Crysis and Crysis 2 back-to-back, great way to enjoy them. I’ve not tried Bullestorm or Borderlands (kind of missed the boat with my friends playing online when it first came out) but they are on my list of games to check out.

  3. Hope EPIC is listening cause one of their main competitors Crytek has just fired the first rounds. They know were the money and real appreciation of creativity is at. The only thing now for gamers is how to budget, their are too many games coming out for the Wii U. Over 50 in the launch window my goodness.

      1. Great minds think alike, or more correctly though in a similar manner; for I was thinking the exact same thing about infinity blade :).

  4. Well we better not rule this out because well if we rule it out it means that Crytek will have to use more rulers to make a rule sentence to rule out a game for the Wii U even the rule isn’t a rule but more of a non-rule.. RULE RULE RULE RULE!!

  5. Though there is a likely chance that Crysis 3 would be made for Wii U.
I can also see them making either Timesplitters 4 or Metroid…
If Team Ninja could…Why wouldn’t they?
And they have better succes in the “Sci-Fi” genre than TN…I think…

    1. I have said no such thing. Fabricating quotes is absolutely pathetic and a testament to your obvious asshurt after being terminated in multiple articles.

            1. Cant wait to see the differences between the ps3 and ps4. I wonder what they will improve beside the 10% in improved graphics.

              1. Exactly. Sony’s CEO even said, “i dont think graphics will get much better than what the ps3 already offers”. He KNOWS its too expensiveto make that push to what morons like Aeolus consider “next gen”, its too expensive. But we can make improvemts in making the consoles run 1080p native, and high framerateand have it looking alot better.
Microsofts “plans” for the 720 are a joke, but they have to be because the system is not going to be this huge leap in graphics like its been with every generation, it wont, and it cant. So what do you do? You create something new and exciting that the system can do INSTEAD of pushing out better graphics. Next gen will be the gen of gameplay, Nintendo knows it, Microsoft know it, and most likely, Sony know it. And challenging Nintendo in making better gameplay, is not going to end pretty

              2. Knowing Sony the will add a 12axis controller.with with resistive touch on their “cough” “cough” move glow bulb.

            2. The developers are literally the same ones previously onboard the Wii, there is next to no difference whatsoever.

The specs are very well current generation, they are in no shape or form a substantial leap with what I’m seeing on paper. It isn’t significant enough to be called next-gen.

By the way “possibility” =! guaranteed.

              1. Nothing is current gen besides a PC in terms of graphics, its the next generation of consoles, its next gen. What, you think ps4 will be PC standard?hahahahasomeones been smoking crack

                1. 360 was current generation with PCs upon launch, but of course, you wouldn’t know anything about that, being the faux PC gamer you are.

The 360 for instance, used a card similar to the Radeon X1800/X1900 series, which at the time was one of the most modern, high-end GPUs.

The Wii U is seemingly using something based on mid-range R700 series cards, which date right back to 2008. The processor itself looks nearly identical to what’s powering the 360, but probably different architecture. Same 32nm process, triple core, and same clock speed *dev kit* as the 360.

Wii U is a rebranded 360; little else.

                    1. No it is not irrelevant. That’s being very obvious and dodging what is said. If MS/Sony wanted to, they could easily use high end, modern GPUs in their consoles, just like they’ve did in the last generation. HD 7970 for instance would blister any R700 card Wii U is using.

                      Stop being an idiot.

                    2. It’s called taking losses on hardware and compensating in software. MS will most certainly take that path again. Sony also stated they won’t release a console that can’t show a significant leap from the current gen and this NeoGaf thread detailing some leaked seems to cement that statement as credible: http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=477540

                  1. >360 was current generation with PCs upon launch, but of course, you wouldn’t know anything about that, being the faux PC gamer you are.

CONFIRMED FOR BIGGEST FUCKING RETARD ON THIS SITE LMFAO

any credibility that you thought you had is now lost

                    fucking stupid loser

                    1. Saying credibility lost and accomplishing absolutely nothing with quote spam is a fine way of saying “I can’t refute this argument, so let me just dodge it instead”.

              1. You’re actually doing a good job showing how (un)educated you are, while I’m smashing everything you bring up to pieces with facts.

                1. “Taking sides” isn’t going to help a case neither of you have. Defending your precious Nintendo is futile.

                  1. Dude stop acting like retard and get a life “Talk to girls” All you do is insult and make people get into fights with you. You need to SHUT UP.

      1. Aeolus likes to suck off monkey dicks, and the monkey is Icy Dead People, and they also seem to be a idiots

Hey, he’s back. I see you changed your e-mail again. How many times have you changed it now? Isn’t it bothersome to get banned all the time, and then create a new e-mail just for hating? I guess you really don’t have a life.

        1. You’re the same person in multiple threads, changing your name and keeping the exact avatar.

Also, your name in itself is horrible grammar. I hope you don’t go into college speaking like that.

                1. The amount of internet memes you regurgitate tells me you will never see a successful future and career.

    2. Aeolus really isn’t that bad if people would stop outright attacking him. Sure, I don’t agree with him on everything, but a lot of people are just asking to make him mad. Honestly, Aeolus is the only one quoting his sources and backing up his facts every single time when he gets in arguments.

      1. Agreed, people are always asses to him, so he’s going to be an ass. He backs all of his arguments up with facts and sources, and everyone makes a huge deal because butthurt fanboys can’t take the truth sometimes.

        1. I dont see the reason why they wouldnt unless it was money related. Activision put pretty ever game they have on the Wii, regardless of its power and drop in sales, so clearly, its not that much of a loss or difficult to port to a machine more powerful than the current gen. Most likely theyre trying to stay “loyal” to the ps3 (even though they jumped onto the 360 in a flash)

            1. I really like Max Payne 3, when it wasnt frustratingly hard xD
But yes, seriously, every time i look on another gamin site its just full of,
“good….but were the fuck is GTAV?!?”
“these games are shit compared to GTAV”
              “FUCK ROCKSTAR FAGS, GIMME GTAV”

Oh yeah, same game in a new city with nothing really new attached to it, reeeeal exciting *rolls eyes*

              1. Yeah, I agree. After spending hours and hours on San Andreas (as any 10-15 year old child with a PS2 did), none of the games seem to be creative enough. It’s just the same thing over and over.

                  1. It’s not just that, I guess it depends on whether or not you’re the kind of person who enjoys platformers, because each and every Mario platformer is a different game even if it looks similar.

      1. Skeptically stupid! Just Kidding. I have to agree that GTA would be pretty great on the Wii U.

Leave duck in oven :P Whoever said that is funny :p

      1. Yes, this would force other Devs to give Maps for free/Cheaper/or add a Map Creator

plus I wanna race Cats in an elaborate Bobbytrapped Map lol

    1. By booming with games, you mean booming with ports that don’t warrant a purchase when they can be bought on consoles readily available to the market?

        1. Silly, tacked on controller gimmicks and map functions with some slightly better framerates, isn’t exactly “more advanced”.

There is literally no reason to buy a Wii U at launch with what has been seen now. Pikmin 3 isn’t enough, ZombiU possibly is a timed exclusive, the list keeps going on.

      1. Ports ports ports, i like how you act and use it as though its a negative word? THE biggest game of this year, is a port (Assassins Creed 3). Does that make it shit? No.
So the WiiU is getting year old games, it needs games? I dont have Ninja Gaiden 3, or Trine 2. But i KNOW other people dont own Mass Effect 3 and Arkham City. Other than those, the rest are either multiplatform titles, that are release during the WiiU’s launch, or slightly before (AC3), and the rest are exclusives.

        1. Wii U has no original “Next-Gen” titles, these are all ports/timed exclusives with controller demo games being marketed as full games.

The only people who really care about this are Nintendo fanboys without HD platforms.

          1. Apart from the exclusives, and games we havent seen because the console isnt even fucking out, no shit. These games wont appear till at least the 720 does, because companies will want to make the most money they can.

And im not a fanboy, and own a ps3, but im interested in 2 of them, because they HAVE BETTER GAMEPLAY

            1. A next-gen console should be revealed showing us next gen games, not a heap of available ports with minor improvements here and there.

What did Sony do when the PS3 was revealed? Show us tech demos and a glimpse into the future that clearly looked ahead of what was available now. Microsoft? Same thing, but to a lesser extent. Nintendo has however showed us a silly bird demo running at 720p and 30 fps, along with a Zelda that had no AA, limited to camera control and 30fps as well.

              Embarrassing.

              1. Oh yeah, because Lair was an awesomegame, along with all its other “big showcase” games.

And you just told me a couple of posts back games wont be in 60fps :p stupid cunt. And you do know those tech demos are damn old, and werent even made using the final tech right?

                  1. To be fair, there may be inconsistencies within those direct feeds. Miyamoto(?) was quoted saying he chose to keep pikmin 720p specifically for the purpose of 60fps. The article here says pikmin was running in 30fps, which makes me wonder if there are more inconsistencies regarding framerate.

I’ll link the quote if you’d like.

                    1. Feel free to. I’ve honestly not seen a single source claiming ACIII on Wii U would even be 60fps. 1080p perhaps, but not both.

                    2. Actually wait, I have…but that article contained no quotes or direct links to those Nintendo rep’s comments.

              2. Yep. Because we had to wait a year to get Gears of War, the first true next gen Xbox 360 game. Fuck off, dude.

  6. That’s it….this was the move Nintendo needed to happen! Now that Crytek is on broad as a 3rd party on Wii U Epic will follow…..cause if Crytek set a standard and blow all the socks off the of the customers with crazy next Gen Graphic they will take the lead with other developer choosing to develop with Crytek engine over Unreal 4 so if Epic want to avoid that they now have to work with Nintendo cause it would be a gamble to wait for the next xbox or Sony system…… Crytek has seen something about the Wii U that has changed there mind plus I think Epic making their statement about not bring Unreal 4 to Wii U help them choose to bring Crytek and take the Lead…….Wii U most be powerful and more Powerful then we are led to believe

      1. Its true. Epic think theyre the shit when their engine is miles behind the CryEngine3. If Crytek take the spotlight for next gen consoles engine, because are being unreasonable and stupid, thinking every console should have 4gb of ram, amongst other things, they’ll miss out or companies will just use U3

        1. UE4 “behind” CryEngine3, lol….

Boy, I needed that laugh today.

…And out of fucking nowhere, Square Enix’s Luminous Engine appears and smashes CE3 into little tiny bits of pixie dust.

          1. U4 is doing things CryEngine3 did years ago. You ever seen CE3 on max settings? Square Enix dont even use the engine the same way Ureal and CryEngie do. They require ragdoll physics, destructable eviroments, apadtive lighting, being able to move and fight within the same area. The FF13 engine was just nice to look at, but it was a turn based battle game, and in true fact, diesnt represent what the engine can do, and Luminous will be no different. Clearly you have no idea what you’re talking about.

            1. UE4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dD9CPqSKjTU

Hell even UE3 can have a game running in real time smoke ANYTHING they’ve presented on CryEngine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSXyztq_0uM

              CE3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmaHj6mpT0k&feature=related

              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rycm5aec6_Q

Don’t kid yourself, pal. This is embarrassing to read. It is clearly -you- who has no idea what he’s talking about. You’re only praising CryEngine 3 because it can run on the Wii U. :P It can do that on PS3/360 too, big deal.

              1. Amir… just relax OK. Don’t become a troll and just accept the fact that Crytek is working with Nintendo on a brand new game for the Wii U. You don’t need to blow a stack in denial, OK?

            2. I’m not sure why the comment I replied to with this is “awaiting moderation”. Probably due to the multiple YT links, in any case. Nothing to entertain here, you’re seriously kidding yourself if you think CE3 can’t remotely touch UE4. :P

              Same goes for Luminous.

              1. CryEngine 3 sold itself to the dated current generation. UE4 is for the next generation, and those demos were next-gen, nothing on CryEngine 3 can compete with what was shown on Spike.

                1. Dudeur got to bethe most lost and hurt fan boy of all time. Lolit’sokmanlife still goes onit’sNintendoworldbabyjustget use to it lol,WiiU mad? Cause Imnot!!

  7. All Crytek need to do is supply graphical and technical support of their CryEngine 3 to Retro studios. Then have Retro make Metroid prime 4, the next Chronicles, and it would be over for EPIC and their engine.

  8. I seem to remember a certain Nintendo hater around here saying that Crytek was one of the companies that had “no interest in the Wii U”, during an argument where he tried to defend his view that the Wii U won’t sell well.
No interest is the same as saying no possibility of a game release coming from them, either.
And now look at the possibilities rearing their head.
    ……
How’s that foot of yours taste, Hater?
    Must taste bitter.
Like the bitter taste of de”feet”.:P

  10. Crytek and Nintendo? Uhm, aren’t the two companies known for opposing ends of the spectrum in terms of graphics? Crytek pumps out games with fantastic visuals, while Nintendo and the “Wii” console line-up is focused on completely different aspects…

  11. I got a feeling that some companies are going to be lazy andhave just the Wii U controller pro in mind and that just really sad (not as in pathetic).
