This weeks issue of MCV has revealed that New Super Mario Bros 2 for the Nintendo 3DS has sold 29.4% more launch units than the original New Super Mario Bros did on the Nintendo DS. However, it should be pointed out that the original New Super Mario Bros saw sales spike over the summer and the game eventually sold over 450,000 units by the end of 2006.

i bought one on day 1 . NSMB2 will sell 15-25 million worliwide withing 2-3 years . it will keep being produced at the factory over and over . its one of them .

look at the 3ds vs the vita . the vita is trying to be hardcore but failing .
the 3ds has a wide range of hardcore games and games for everyone that are amazing . ultimately the 3ds is a much better platform with better games , even if it doesnt have the grahical capabilities of the ps vita .
this will be the same comparison between wiiu and ps4 ,
who cares if the ps4 has better graphics ?????? it wont have the selling points the wiiu has . and it wont have a wonderfull mixture of games like the wiiu will have . it will just be dull grey shooters .

Only reason new super mario 2 is selling is because of the tanooki gimmick that makes it seem like theyll be using all the retro suits to supermario 3. If you truly dont care about graphics than just buy old mario bros 3 which is still way better than this crap. Srsly the only new thing about this game is the coin and retro suits. The level,gameplayand graphical style along with the missions seem soooo reycyled,same and cliched from newsuper mario,wiis version and marioland 3d. Even the puzzlesolving is the same like getting red coins finding hiddeng golden coins i mean is this donkey kong country smh. I still love nes mario and super nes mario games evry thing else seems so bland and un lcreative eventhe worlds seem less livid
SMB3 is the best 2D Mario ever and one of the greatest games of all time.
Even its graphics are awesome. So… go get it!

NSMB2 was way to easy, AT least NSMBDS was challenging.
yeah, i loved NSMBDS ‘cuz it was actually challenging. nsmbw was ridiculously easy, but the multiplayer was HILARIOUS, so that made up for it. and from what i’ve seen this game looks a bit easy….
indeed you are correct. NSMB2 is really chalengeing if you plan on getting every starcoin in every level . there is nothing easy about it.
its easy if you want to walk through the game without doing anything .
but if you want to get all 3 starcoins on every single level . its quite chalengeing .

I really don’t understand why people complain about having a lot of lives. It’s not making the game any easier or harder than it already is. The lives system became irrelevant a long time ago, so having hundreds of them is making no difference at all.
Finally someone talks sense! I like having tons of lives for show if you will :)

best 2d mario game since 3… Whoever said the level design was uninspired doesn’t know what inspired level design is, now The Mid-Way Level Boss battles… dinosuars on rotating platforms- that’s unispired amd disappointing, but that’s it out of the whole game…
that wasn’t a new idea… That boss is from super Mario world on the snes
You do know that the dinosaurs are Reznor from Super Mario World? I agree that this game is very good, but Mario World is a better game.
