Ghost Recon Online’s producer Theo Sanders has confirmed that Ghost Recon Online for Wii U is currently on hold as the development team focus their attention on the PC version of the game. Sanders made it clear that their priority is the PC version, and once that’s complete, then they may focus on the Wii U version.
“As of right now, the entire Ghost Recon team is focused on the PC version only. The Wii U version is on hold.”
“If in the future we have an opportunity to address it again, we’ll make future announcements. But as of right now we’re focused completely on the PC version.”
“It’s not a reaction to anything specific happening to Wii U. It was a really fun, cool platform to develop for. But you realise once you launch an online service that it’s an all-consuming effort, so we really wanted to have all hands on deck. It was the same dev team working on both SKUs, and [we] really wanted to focus on doing the PC version right.
“I’m not really in a position to talk about the Wii U, but our particular choice for Ghost Recon Online was purely based on the fact that we had one dev team working on both SKUs and it was an all-consuming effort with the PC launch. It’s tough launching an online game.”
Meh
Therefore Ghost Recon Online for the Wii U may soon be released next Summer or Fall. Time to move on… at least there’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 coming to the U.
Did you see the trailer of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2? That game looks like shit!
Pfft… what am I talkin’ about? You’re right Anon…
Hardly matters if it still sells a billion copies. I’m pretty sure MW3 sales fell slightly, but BO2 will likely beat BO
Already knew this, it got said about 1-2 months ago during E3
Yikes. I was wondering what was going on with this title.
Not that excited for the game. But wait and see
I’d like Ghost Recon Future Soldier.
“Big… mistake.” -Arnold Schwarzenegger in Last Action Hero
I’m a cop, you idiot!
I knew this was going to happen to a few games. No big deal though. They should take their time and get it right instead of rushing it and releasing a half finished or crappy port. Leave luck to heaven.
Take your time, quality is better than quantity (it seems like Activision doesn’t understand this.)
Sounds ok to me, both versions will end up better as a result.
If that’s the case I hope wii get an enhanced version with add ons content. when it comes out that is.
This is old news. They hinted towards it after the no-show at E3 2012.
Because a hint is the same thing as an outright confirmation, right?
I guess I’m fine with this. Rather than stretch their resources thin and put out a lesser product, they’ll focus on the best free PC game they can make and then bring that to Wii U. Too, Ubisoft is already bringing some fun-looking exclusives.

I wonder if the Wii U version will be F2P. That would be awesome.
It’s a great possibility, Dewott. With the Nintendo Network, you can play games online at no addtional cost.
