Nintendo Australia has announced that Wii U will launch in Australia and New Zealand on November 30th, which is the same day in which the console will be released in Europe. North America gets Wii U first on November 18th.
For consumers in Australia and New Zealand: The Wii U Basic Pack, which includes a white Wii U console, Wii U GamePad, and 8GB of internal storage, will cost $349.95; whereas the Premium Pack, which contains a black Wii U console, Wii U GamePad, controller stand, GamePad charging cradle, sensor bar, 32GB of internal storage, and Nintendo Land, will cost $429.95. Both packs will feature an HDMI cable and AC adapters for the console and Wii U GamePad.
Not too bad.
I’m sure you did, but did you see the picture that combined all 3 characters in your icon?
429 dollars for nintendo land sold! XD
hi there goid news wii u premium with nintendo land is $349 thats saves you $70 and gets you 32 gb ssd flash storage
He’s talking Australian Dollars, not US Dollars.
Lol, surprisingly this is one of the cheaper launches… I paid $400 for my Wii and $350 for my 3DS!
That is good for Australia (i think) , will some one convert this into Pound’s and real Dollars …..
429$ aus is like 270-300 pounds
That sounds perfectly reasonable for me ! . UK and especialy AUS are a lot more expensice countries than the land of hope and dreams. just the way it is. Neither good or bad .
yeh its pretty good seeing as the original wii launched at $399 here. Next time you want to convert currency, go to google and type “XE currency”. Best site to do that on.
its $349 in usa
real dollars? aud is real. and is on par again after it fell to favour ausiie exporters.
Yeah, lol
Dont know if thats bad or good for that aussies and kiwis.. Haha
It’s pretty good. The Wii launched here at $400 and the 3DS at $349 before the price drop.
Damn, thats really good then.
And the 360 launched at $700, and the PS3 launched at over $1000, so the Win U is at an awesome price.
I feel bad for anyone who paid that much for a launch PS3.
I feel bad that i paid $870 for a 360 Elite and never use it. =(
and don’t forget those poor fools that got injure at launch.
hi there 3ds in usa was $249
You’re dumb :) have you ever heard of the currency exchange?? Hahah I bet you havn’t silly dilly billy
The Aussie dollar is worth more than the US dollar at the moment. Try thinking first. It makes you look less of a fool.
This price is higher than I’d like. It’s not unexpected, but honestly, is it good enough to be a decent selling console in Australia ? Time will tell.
I won’t be buying one at launch at that price. I have enough consoles and games to keep me busy for years to come.
”North America gets Wii U first on November 30th.” *18th*
Today is a hard work day for Sickr and Alba. Their spelling sins are forgiven!
Indeed !!!! these guys are amazing !!!! So helpfull for 3ds , wiiu enthusiast’s!!!! . cannot than them enough .
Just pointing out a simple error :)
WE FORGIVE THEM BECAUSE WE LOVE THEM
well sometimes love hurts….

alba, a mistake in the description. You said “North America gets Wii U first on November 30th” at the end of the first paragraph. It’s coming out Nov. 18 in N. America, just to clarify.
this is an absolute rip off. Australia stuffed as always.
*whispers* Pssst Alba. North America gets it on the 18th.
Wait…its Japan getting it on December 8th 0.o dafuq?! Japan gets it last!?
It is all to do with coding it all in Japanese nd other technicalitie’s .
It’s never as simple as anyone would like . I am sure Nintendo tried to release it in Japan first , but there American and European Teams are further ahead in all the finalising …
The Wii costed $400 when it launched here, and I didn’t think it was too bad a price, although I was only 12 so obviously it wasn’t me paying for it.
This DOES seem a little steep to be honest, but… considering the free game plus extra 24 gig of storage, if the Basic price is reasonable I guess this one is.
idk in the us wii cost $250, wii u will cost $299-350 in the us.
Should I buy like 3 or 4 wii u and resell on eBay for like double the price? I’ll get my money back plus I’ll be getting my wii u for free. Even if I resell for like $100 more each ill get my own wii u for cheap if not free
im not sure if im excited. first of all I can’t believe the wii is on its way out. It seems like not too long ago when I got mine, and im a little annoyed that nintendo’s doing flash memory instead of a hard drive, i mean come on 32 gigs is not enough, and 8 certainly is not enough. they should include a hard drive with like anywhere from 20-200 gigs like the ps3 and 360. Neverless I am looking forward to the wii u :D
Wii U is cheaper because of not adding a larger HD. That dont matter to me at all, I have a 1TB HD just laying around. I can use that and that will be plenty of room. 250 HD is like what $35-40. Are you going to preorder?
USB har drives can hold terra bites……….
well it’s internal flash memory which is commonly used in memory cards, USB drives and solid state drives, the speed makes up for the capacity. plus you can always buy an external hard drive for cheap if you want really high storage space.
Hey sickr/alba, I have found a bit of an interesting post over at the IGN Forums. It’s not news, but it pretty much sums everything concerning the “unified account system” the Wii U and 3DS are supposed to get. One of the most detailed posts on the topic I’ve read so far. It’s quite a good read. Link: http://www.ign.com/boards/threads/will-the-3ds-be-getting-an-account-system.452664368/
Cheaper than the European versions according to Amazone.de
The Deluxe version costs 450$.
Wow , Thats pretty good since i live in australia , everything here is a ripoff …but the deluxe version seems a little too much but its still reasonable ..Im going to be getting the deluxe version since the Basic version is for cheapshits !!
Reblogged this on Gigable – Tech Blog.
According to my phone, $349.95 in Australian dollars is about $250 in the US
