Nintendo has listed a total of 22 Wii U games with a November 18th release date, which is the same day Wii U launches in North America. Remember, Nintendo eShop titles are absent from the list, there are even more Wii U games that will be available for purchase on the console’s launch day, like Trine 2: Director’s Cut.

in canada we have eb games where i went on friday to preorder wiiU and there system was down and they wouldn’t let me raincheck and told me to come back another day. i came back and they let me preorder the wiiU but they didn’t have NSMBU in the list of release day games, and wouldn’t even take a preorder for it! useless store just panders to the sony crowd – they don’t have a single sign saying anything about the wiiU yet they are taking preorders.

So far it looks like Nintendo published titles will be available the same day the physical copies get released. But I see no reason why non-published games wont. It will cost less then actually making mroe physical copies and if its true nintendo are giving more incentives then any other digital game distribution store then I dont see why they wont take advantage

Well, Assassin’s Creed 2 and its sequels came out one year after the other in succession, all almost within the same quarter of the year (fall). And before you get off on the whole “They’re not even comparable to Zelda games,” it doesn’t matter whether they are or not. Fact is, Nintendo took well over three to five effin’ years to come out with a game that they easily could have released along another Zelda game on the same system. Granted, ALttP came out about five years after Zelda 2, and OoT came out about six years after that, but dude, that was a totally different era back then. That same level of patience is not going to hold up anymore. The hardest parts of Zelda to design should be the new puzzles and dungeons, but other than those things, designing Zelda at this point should be old hat. At this rate, waiting forever for a game like Skyward Sword — now THAT’S unrealistic. Nintendo has to be crazy to think gamers, hardcore or casual, would have THAT much patience, especially in this day and age.
My take on why they’ve been taking so long? While some people were hammering away at Skyward Sword, others have been busy studying the HD landscape, and thus used Skyward Sword as a means to stall for time while they brought out HD Zelda. Common sense if you think about it.
Well, either that, or they finally started making HD Zelda like NOW, and the game will be released three years from now, in which case that is so stupid.
Maybe the dudes need time to come up with a decent story. The next Zelda is coming to a new console (Wii U) with a new controller. Zelda has been for a few generations now the game that Nintendo uses to show the power and full potential of their hardware.
It took them that long to perfect the 1:1 motion controls on Skyward Sword. I haven’t played it yet, but I’m definitely going to buy it. When they finally do show a Zelda for Wii U it’s going to be the game that shows the full potential of the Wii U Game Pad. It’s going to be the first HD Zelda game. This will take time.
It’s a guarantee that we’ll get a Zelda game on the Wii U. Iwata said he’s going for a 3 year development cycle this time so we may see it in 2015. And Zelda is different from AC because they have to figure out where it fits into the lengthy Zelda timeline. AC doesn’t have that kind of history or that kind of pedigree. Nintendo doesn’t mess around with their 1st party IPs. Especially the Trinity (Mario/Zelda/Metroid). They will make sure to take all the time they think is necessary to deliver the experience they’ve envisioned. There are a lot of good games to hold you over until then.
I’m sure resident evil will be announced after launch cause I bet ubi has some deal with N to get exclusive prelaunch hype for the first zombie game on the console. Just wait till capcoms next announcements.

16 of those are ports but 7 of them are exclusive and there’s still a lot more. out of the whole list of 50+ games, about 15 are exclusive, which is a lot more than the previous systems, say like PS3 with its 13 titles and 5 exclusives, xbox360 with its 18 titles and 7 exclusives or the wii with it’s 21 titles and 7 exclusives, this is really impressive and the biggest launch to date. they they learned their mistake from the 3DS launch and this shows it, plus many of these ports are still selling and ranked high in the charts.
The real question is, are they good exclusives, or not just some run of the mill shovelware?

I don’t see how a year is so long. I’ve done it with every console I purchased. Why would I get it at launch if there aren’t any games that I want? So far Bayonetta 3 and Pikmin 3 have my eye but I think those will be released next year, I like to have a bigger selection of games besides those two. Also, I’m disappointed there aren’t eShop games here. I know that they aren’t retail games but PSN and XBLA games have had download cards (which are locked to a certain game, rather than just a points card) for years and it seems like a missed opportunity, I believe Nintendo fans are much more used to retail and this could wean them off of it. I’m tired of Nintendo saying “but we’re different” just step up and play the fucking game. You give the same features as the PS3 and Xbox 360 and then maybe, just maybe, you’ll be ready to fight.

Nintendo is giving us Bayonetta 2 as an exclusive. Imagine how many more exclusives that Nintendo has acquired. Monster hunter alone is powerful enough to keep the Wii U in first place during it’s life cycle in Japan. Throw in the fact that every TV that’s affordable until the next console cycle in 2017/18 will only be 1080P resolution. It feels like Sony and Microsoft will know why Nintendo are legendary :). Wait until we here they are making the true sequel to Chrono trigger, or that final fantasy numbered is becoming a Nintendo exclusive, not to mention metal gear solid 5 on the Wii U. Launch lineup for me is only FIFA 13 and AC3.

The “ports” you talk about like Assasin’s Creed and stuff are MUCH better than the origionals… just saying. Some have new plotlines and playable charavters(like Ninja Gaiden) and all of them have better graphics!!!(like Assasin’s Creed) I mean if u r spending $60 for a game, might as well be the best one it can be right??? Also the remakes are not just “remakes” they have tons of added gameplay and features. I fail to see your point.
It would be a port if it was the exact same game with nothing added to it. These are different however. In addition, rehashes that have good gameplay like Mario are successful because it sticks to the core gameplay mechanic that made it awesome in the beginning. If you change the formula for the sake of it being different and not a rehash it could become the game’s downfall because the gameplay made no sense, that is if it’s a main title in the series.
I don’t think you actually know what a port is if that’s your definition of one.
There are 9 games I want out of those 22!! 9!!! Rayman Legends, ZombiU, Tekken Tag Tourney 2, Just Dance 4, Marvel Avengers Battle For Earth, Sonic & Allstars Racing Transformed, Nintendoland, Mass Effect 3, and New Super Mario Bros. U!!! Oh and they didnt even mention Pikmin 3 which comes out later on which I am ALSO GETTING! So 10 games AT LEAST in the first YEAR(really couple of months) of the Wii U’s life cycle. That is more games than I have for the Xbox 360 right now…..which I have owned for yeeeaaars…

I am sorry but this Nintendo crap is getting old, how does no one see this ever repeating trend they constantly fall into. Majority of their games are crap, of course they will have a bunch of launch titles, does it mean anything? No.
The 3DS has a huge library, nearly over 50% of those games are movie games, lego games or disney games. It’s pathetic. The Wii U is looking just a childish the more I see, they claimed it was for the hardcore gamers for once but the system itself is not even hardcore, so how can it ever please the hardcore crowd.
December Wii U games release blows also, more childish crap for my supposed next generation console..
