Several large retail outlets in the United Kingdom have confirmed to MCV that they believe it to be unlikely that retailers will be offering discounted Wii U consoles at launch. The reason behind this is that retailers don’t anticipate as much stock as there was at the Nintendo 3DS launch – which saw numerous retailers offering severely discounted prices.
“There was a lot of stock of 3DS, which meant we felt we could go lower on price. But I don’t expect nearly as much Wii U stock. There will be no need for discounting.”

Discount Shmiscount , give me a wiiu . I have to admit though I didn’t pick the 3ds up at launch in UK becuase it was nearly £250 , And all it had on it was fuking street fighter 4 , ridge racer and ghost recon .
Then , price drops to £170 – ocarina 3d , starfox 3d come along = SOLD!!!!
The 3ds went from being Ridiculously over priced with no must buy games at all to a reasonably priced beast with tons of games releasing all the time .

I bit of a shame, but only because I like money. But really £300 for a brand new console is more than a fair price.
I don’t expect them too really. All I want is them to actually have the Wii U stocked at release, because I will be at Best Buy the moment they open on the 18th.
