Rayman Legends Information From Nintendo Power

The latest edition of Nintendo Power has a batch of exciting information relating to Ubisoft’s forthcoming Wii U exclusive, Rayman Legends. The new information slightly contradicts previous information which suggested that you’ll spend the majority of the game playing as Rayman’s sidekick, Murfy. Nintendo Power says that you’ll actually take control of Rayman for most of the game, or alternatively one of the other playable characters. Here’s some of the details:

  • Ubisoft really wanted to make Rayman Legends because of the GamePad
  • Ubisoft Montpellier was one of the first third-party studios to receive Wii U dev. kits
  • Michel Ancel says that the environment is very important in a platforming game, and the GamePad allows players to change the environment in new/different ways
  • Up to four players lead Rayman and company through levels with Wiimotes or Wii U Pro controllers
  • Fifth player manipulates surroundings with Murfy on the GamePad
  • Murfy can cut ropes, lower platforms, turn gears
  • Turn gears with the gyroscope
  • Murfy can be mischievous as well
  • It’s possible to take a health bottle from someone who’s about to take it and give it to another player
  • Murfy can use the environment to wreak havoc on other players
  • Ex: take lava and dump it on someone’s head
  • The team wants the GamePad player “to feel like they have an identity in the game’s world”
  • In single-player, you’ll mostly control Rayman or one of the other playable characters
  • Temporarily switch to Murfy when you reach certain sections
  • In these cases, AI will take over the other character
  • Developers promise that the AI will perform flawlessly
  • No mosquito levels
  • New character in each world
  • Barbara is from the medieval world

  1. Oh god…its like NSMB Wii havok, times 2 .___.

Sounds awesome, day 1 for me. Playing this with my 2 brothers and sister, aaaawesoooome.

  2. I’m so glad I was able to pre-order the Wii U. My parents loves it already. The Wii U has changed the world! I never thought I’d see the day that my family acually wants a gaming console. And now I wait!

  3. so i’m guessing you take control of that green think during those music sections like during E3?
That’s sorta understandable, as I don’t see how they could make that work with a human player. Don’t do it perfectly and you ruin the whole thing.

  4. does anyone know the official release date for this game? I keep on seeing December 4th here in the US at gamestop at amazon just dont know if its true

      1. Uhhh, wrong. Legends comes out on the 30th, worldwide.

Legends is a launch window title, not launch title.

Legends is only a launch title for Europe because EU doesn’t get Wii U until the 30th.

        Hope I helped!
