Retailers will soon begin selling Wii U branded Nintendo eShop cards. It looks like you have the option of purchasing Nintendo eShop cards worth of $20, $35 and $50. These cards can only be used on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U.

I shudder to think how much money I’ll spend on these
So we could buy these, but if we don’t have a 3DS (yet?), they are presently useless. Seems like they’d wait until it’s actually launched, but all right.
No because they’re useable with your Wii U or 3DS, whichever you enter the codes on it’ll go to that for your Nintendo Account. ie; You enter your code on 3DS eShop it’ll only be usable on there, and same with Wii U, if you enter it on that, it’ll only be usable on that.
I wonder if the eshop accounts will be linked… So if I enter it on my 3DS, will my synced WiiU also see the balance?
No, it doesn’t really work like that. Which is a bit of shame for Nintendo when they could have a unique credit balance for all systems a person’s registered on their Nintendo Account.
I hear nintendo is working in a way to do it
Well I sure hope they do, it’ll benefit everyone that they’ll be able to tie in their 3DS and Wii U Nintendo account funds people purchase and enter with the codes.
Also I’ve yet to see Nintendo release those special Pre-paid Cards with the QR Codes, because in the 3DS eShop they’ve got a QR Code Scanning option for the Pre-paid Cards, so hopefully it’ll be on these new ones.
Yes they mentioned having one unified eshop account for them like 2 days ago!
Why would you buy them if you didn’t have a 3DS?
Nice. I like em. I will be buying these often.
If these have the same values in Australia, I think they should drop the $35 and make a $100 value card. If full price games do become available on the eshop they are about $60-100 here.
My money, my money ain’t ready. T_T
Still getting the Premium Wii U ASAP.
Eh, I’ll just use my debit card. So much easier.
Agreed. Even though I like the idea, the cards seem to give me the feeling that they are meant to be a gift to a WiiU/3DS user.
Yeah true that. Now that I think about it. It would be perfect for my nephew.
As long as the e-shop games are tied to the system and not to an account I couldn’t care less. I do hope though that Ninti will change this, and then they will get more of my money.
I guess this is what’s replacing the Wii Shop Channel, with its catchy music no one knows who wrote.
Reblogged this on Gigable – Tech Blog.
No one cares about your shitty gay blog.
^ Was there actually any need for that? Just because he says that doesn’t give you the right to be a stupid idiot like that!
At the rest of this article. Sounds pretty good. I think the Wii U will be a hit. Leave luck to heaven: I think so! :)
So if I have Wii Points left, I should use them up on the Wii and then transfer all items over to Wii U?
Yes
Well I just think the vc on the wii u is gonna suck. So many games on the wii that didn’t come out, the 3ds has some good ones but their isn’t a lot just dsi games, no gba and the content is just any random game on gameboy. You can’t throw nothing but hit games since it’ll die out quick but it’s like they don’t even try at all.
is the same has the wii and if new 1s apear they apear on both
Did anyone else see that boots video posted along with this post??? What was the point of including that along with the post??? Is that like the founder of the site or something??
That “3ds OR wii u” makes me think of separate online accounts…. hope I’m wrong.

I just to just spend the money like you do on it now
Now if one card can be spent on both my 3DS and Wii U together like with PSN allowing you to spend your funds on your PS3 and PSP/Vita together then ill be very happy. If not, then nintendo you just went full retard…
Am I the only one who noticed that Nintendo network logo at the bottom?

Why buy that? You’ll waste gas money and your time to get to the shop and buy it for the same price but a little more. Then you’ll waste gas and time getting back home to find out that you could have just done it at home on the eshop. So fuck that.
You do know not every 1 have credit cards or trust to use them online?
im one of those people. Plus eb games is a 10min walk away from my house :P
Yeah, plus, if you’re already in the store getting other things, why not just grab it, instead of waiting to get home. That would be pointless. STORES FTW
No I mean before you even go there you could just do it.
It would be cool to use a linked account system on Nintendo Network to use your balance on both systems.
Buying a pre-paid eShop card for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS is an epic idea. Time for me to use the card, swipe it on the Wii U GamePad’s Near Field Communications sensor… and BOOM!!!!! Buy anything I want at the eShop!!!!!!
i dont understand why you cant just load any amount onto it
Hopefully they make it to where if you have both a Wii U and 3DS, then you can link them so if you buy a card, use could use $30 for Wii U and $20 for 3DS… that would be cool.
…and my Wii Shop Point cards are now useless.

I sure hope Nintendo does link your Wii U and 3DS eShop accounts. It would be so much easier to spread your money across both platforms.

If it’s for both, I wonder if the eShop will use a universal monetary system, as in, if I buy a $20 card and spend $10 on the 3DS, can I spend the other $10 on the Wii U? I would love that.
Well, I bought 2 of these cards, and both codes gave me the error code 005-5561 meaning the codes were faulty. I called Nintendo customer service and they couldn’t figure it out and now I have to wait 1-2 business days to either get money credited to my eshop account or have the codes working. Buyer beware. Maybe if only one didn’t work I could believe it was just a fluke. The guy told me they had been activated and that he didn’t know why they didn’t work.
I bought a $20 card it worked fine. Not sure what went wrong with yours.
Well, they didn’t work, but About an hour after this post, I got an email from Nintendo support letting me know they credited my account with the $40 and that next time I logged into the eshop, the money would be there. It’s realy great to know that Nintendo reps will go the extra mile to fix issues.
oh um………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………PIEEEEEEE!!!
Man Nintendo should release 60$ ones cmon! Wii U games are 60$ plus tax at least give us 60$ worth to spend.
