Today’s launch of two new software titles will have people broadening their artistic horizons and deepening their love of creative wordplay. Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone! and Crosswords Plus are now available for the portable Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL systems, giving consumers a variety of fun ways to learn about how to draw and paint or challenge their puzzle-solving skills anytime, anywhere.
Shoppers can purchase both packaged games as usual at retail locations nationwide. Or they can simply purchase and download the game on their own from the Nintendo eShop using a wireless broadband connection. Regardless of the purchasing method, both Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone! and Crosswords Plus sell at a suggested retail price of $29.99 each. Also, Club Nintendo members who purchase either of these games through the Nintendo eShop and register them before Jan. 6, 2013, will receive a download code for the Donkey Kong: Original Edition game for free. This is a special version of Donkey Kong with content never before seen in the U.S. and is not available for purchase.

I disagree. Nintendo isn’t getting desparate, they’re getting smarter.
They think they can sell digital versions of retail games at retail price? I think that is a shitty deal for the customer. Maybe worth it for a very select few games, but as a whole, digital retail games should not cost the same as physical copies. It makes no sense to me.
To sell digital, they need to discount the software to share SOME of the savings, or they need to incentivize. (As in this deal.)
This offer goes to show there is some hope that Nintendo is waking up to the fact that they can’t save a shit-load of money by selling a title digital, and not pass any of that value to us, the consumer.
Only 5% (ish) bought NSMB2 as a digital download, and I think that sent a clear message to Nintendo to wake up, and share some of the savings with their loyal fans.
I’m a Nintendo Fanboy, but I’m going to call them out on shit like this.
This isn’t even a GREAT deal, but it’s a step in the right direction for Nintendo. If they want to move to a digital-retail sales model, don’t patronize me and try to charge me the same amount as I would pay for a physical copy containing costs such as logistics, hardware, fuel-surcharges, ETC
100% agree, I would have gotten the download for NSMB 2 if I didn’t receive the game as a gift. I want to have some games digitally, but I also want them to be cheaper or have a bonus that makes it worth it.
Right? I understand a decent % of a game’s cost is development, but I shit you not, they are saving money, and so should we. I don’t think they should give it away, or reduce the margin to devs (they should get the same overall %) but we should not have to pay 100% retail.
This is a bit of a rabbit trail to the article, but my overall point is that we need to see A LOT more of this (incentives), and even $$ discounts for digital retail titles.

Colors 3D is litteraly superior to a pen and paper. Its like the best drawing software in the world. Try it . 3d layered pictures , you can import photos and trace over them , you can do ANYTHING on it . 10/10

He may have gotten carried away, but it is a cool paint app, allowing you to paint in 3D, and save it as a 3D .mpo
I own Adobe Production Premium, CS5.5 = $1,300 (paid $450 as a student) OBVIOUSLY this is not the same thing, Colors3D is around $10. For what it is, it is pretty fun. :)

Colors 3d is immense . nuff said… Go and have a look at the official Colors3d website and you will see what I am talking about.
Actually, digital art and traditional art are two different things. One can’t be superior than the other because they both produce different results and cater to different people. This is coming from a digital and traditional artist. I do like Colors! 3D.

I wonder if you can save the images you make on Art Academy as jpegs and distribute the images via email and such. Or is the artwork just stuck on your 3DS?
If you want a great paint program, the ability to paint in 3D, then be able to export that image in both 3D and 2D (JPEG) format, get “Colors3D” for $10. Personally, I love it.

I would’ve thought about picking it up for $10, but $30 is absurd. I’m sure it’ll hit the bargain bin pretty quickly.

I heard you can also get this deal with Paper Mario when it comes out.. so idk if that’s the case I am def. going to get paper mario digitally.. also is nintendo going to be doing the double points for digital like they did with NSMB2? if so that’s even more better if they also include DK.
