Capcom Says “Be Patient” Regarding Mega Man On Nintendo 3DS

Capcom’s Senior Vice-President, Christian Svensson, has told Mega Man fans on the Capcom Unity forums to be patient regarding news of Mega Man coming to the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Svensson was asked when fans will receive the long-awaited Mega Man 1,2 and 3 on the Nintendo 3DS eShop in the West. All three games are currently available on the Japanese eShop in Japan. Here’s Svensson’s short reply.

“Patience… we’ll have things to discuss on this topic in the future.”

Thanks, Nick

    1. They’ve already said there’s little chance of anything you saw of whatever MML3 was ever being seen, and no work likely to resume on it for the forseeable future – basically, Legends 3 is likely to be considered in a deep dormant state until they know what direction to take the franchise.

  1. I would wait. If I actually gave a crud about what Capcom was releasing. But I haven’t bought anything of there’s since Okami’s Wii release.

  2. Mega Man 1, 2 and 3 are truly classics – as well as the ALL other games from the regular Mega Man series. I had them for my NES, and fortunately I got them for my Wii at Wiiware. Frankly, I’m looking forward to hear about a upcoming, brand-new adventure. But, unfortunately, seems that Capcom does not care about this iconic 80’s hero.

    1. Truly agree with your post my friend. Though Capcom has come through for us with monster hunter Tri, ultimate and now monster Hunter 4 will be all ours on Nintendo systems( probably a Wii U monster hunter 4 universe ).

      1. That’s true. MH is a killer franchise, indeed. But it is evident that Mega Man was sadly forgotten somewhere in the past. >.<

    1. My reaction exactly. How could they forget such an amazing IP ?? MEGA MAN has the potential to be HUGE as mario or sonic , they just need to do something new , give him a brand new game , make it amazing and paste it all over the TV . not hard.

      1. Mega man pretty much was as big as Mario and Sonic, its one of the games that made the NES and SNES so great. Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X are legendary.

        1. Exactly . They could be way bigger than they are now !!! I had a mega man game on gamecube when I was younger if I remember properly (got damaged and shit) and it was awesome!!! do you remember which game that was ??

          1. IDK…but I have the megaman anniversary collection for gamecube, if that’s the one you’re thinking of…but there was megaman: network transmission, megaman x: command mission, and megaman x collection(which I used to have, but have been unable to find a decent copy of in my quest to recollect all my old gamecube games, of which I had 30 and now have 40+ in good shape, though I’m still missing some key ones, Sunshine, MGS, Smash Bros…very upset that I ever got rid of these games in the first place, as they are very difficult to find in decent shape with artwork and booklets without having to pay a pretty penny…)

            1. Yeh!!! I’m exactly the same as you except I have 24 Gamecube games , nearly all immaculate.

I used to have more , But I either damaged them or my little bro did (bastard :) . But I was about 12 at the time , and I had a mega man on the GC i sear of it!!! and it was awesome!!! Bet it cost’s an arm and a leg now though :( . Gamecube collections FTW!!!!

                1. kk :) , That was one of the small amounts of megaman I’ve played!!! and it was absoloutly awesome. I’,m gunna hunt it down on E-bay right now!!!!!!!

  3. As Nintendo fans we should become more patient and happy. Res6 is atrocious to many cry babies out there, but we all know we are getting the RES 6 ultimate edition on the Wii U. With all DLC and 1080 P goodness, probably with a Leon and Ada added on full game. Let’s patiently wait Mega Man can now make his storied debut on both the Wii U and 3DS in a new adventure on a company that made him famous Nintendo!

    1. Count me out of that.
As far as I’m concerned, the last truly great big-console RE ever made was RE4 with Ashley wearing that armored suit.
It has been nothing but mediocrity for RE console releases ever since, and I will not waste a cent on 6 regardless of what they pile into it for a Wii U version.
They already fooled me once with 5.
      Never again.
Either they pull their heads out of their collective asses and start giving us great games in other series’, or they never again see my money.

      1. Bro. Picture ninja gaiden and how it will be on the Wii U. Capcom can do that with RES6 for the Wii U and subcontract the team making Zombie U from Ubisoft. Double win win, great RES6 and more resources for Zombi 2 ( on the Wii U ). If only they thought like I did. Maybe I should make video games.

    2. I love Resident Evil, all of them, even spin offs, but 6…no…its just a bad game. Im not bothered if it goes more action because the gameplay was solid, but the gameplay in 6 is just…balls.

  4. I’m guessing there might be some Mega Man collection… even though we’ve gotten one before. For the love of crap just MAKE A NEW GAME ALREADY!!!

    1. A game with Mega Man 2, X, Legends, Battle Network, and an original game in one game .___. that would make my dick rock hard (cue nobody getting that reference)

  5. So this is all about some lame eShop re-releases? Man, is Capcom letting this series go down the toilet or what. How long has it been since they actually released a new Mega Man game? More and more, they don’t to be capable of really bringing the best out of this series.

  6. Until they release MML3, they can release old games as frequently or as infrequently as they want.

I ain’t buying any of them.

    1. It’s likely development on MML3 won’t resume for a long, long time.
No amount of demand is gonna change that, methinks

          1. I do understand why! Geez, that game is awesome in all ways there is! Music, story, characters… oh I love it!
Hey, I’m following your wordpress btw, you seem like a awesome person! See ya around, and happy gaming!
            =)

  7. …. Megaman X 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 remake built specifically for the 3DS
    Legends 3, or a remake of 1 or 2.
Or Megaman Zero either 2, 3, or 4 remake for the system not as a port… Then I’ll forgive Capcom for what they’ve done to em.
None of that Megaman Xover bullsh#t.

  8. Don’t you ever mention Megaman on the 3DS Capcom. After you bitch slapped us with Legends 3. I don’t want you to mention Megaman again.

  10. Obviuosly Crapcom doesn’t give a damn about Mega Man now, in fact, looks like since Inafune left Capcom they want to ridiculize the character, just look at what they did with him in Street Fighter X Tekken, including Bad Box Art Mega Man with a stupid story was an offense to me, not even funny, like if they were trying to say to Inafune “look what we think about your character” or something like that, I don’t know…

    1. me: How about, for every shot fired, it would be 1¢ and charge shots are 5¢

Lifes are $1, and if you loose all you’re lives, you have to repurchase the game.

      Capcom: YOURE HIRED!!

  12. What about a new Megman on the 3DS? And a new Viewtiful Joe, a new Maximo, a new Gargoles Quest, a new Ghouls n Ghosts, a new Bionic Comando, a new Strider, these are some of my favorite games, I love them, please make more, Capcom is awesome, and I love all the Resident Evil games especially RE Revelations and RE 6, I can’t understand how the critics gave it low scores, RE 6 is a 9.5.

    1. It’s not a Resident Evil that people wanted…believe me, go to capcoms Unity forum and look around the RE6 section for why people aren’t keen on it – personally, it’s become one of my own favourite little titles, so their complaints don’t mean much to me overall, but I am all too aware that this isn’t anything like the RE games I was playing 10+ years ago.

  13. Mega Man: Where am I?

???: This is the Land of Forgotten Capcom Franchises. I am Breath of Fire, this is Dino Crisis, that is Rival Schools, over there is Plasma Sword, Bionic Commando is taking a nap, and Saturday Night Slam Masters and Ghosts n Ghouls are making lunch.

Mega Man: Who’s that on the building over there.

Breath of Fire: That’s Onimusha. He usually stands around waiting for Bushido Blade to come from The Land of Forgotten Square Franchises. Bushido Blade usually heckles him into jumping. Onimusha never does…he just goes into dramatic tirades and threatens to jump. DMC does the same.

Mega Man: Sounds like a miserable place.

Breath of Fire: Oh it is. It is. Go sit with Darkstalkers and Jojo, lunch should be done in a bit.

  14. Considering Capcom’s murder of Megaman as of late along with their betrayal of Resident Evil..let alone the MvC3 shenanigans and brutal “fuck you” with fat box art freak cameo character in Street Fighter X Tekken..I think it’s fairly safe to say Capcom is aiming to piss off it’s fans and drive them away. Legends is dead..and this “Rockman Xover” is by and far the most offensive thing they could come up with to celebrate the blue bomber’s anniversary.

I honestly wish they would have released NOTHING at all. It’d be just the usual bit, at least. As for myself; I’m done with Capcom. They’ve butchered two franchises on which they were made famous and two that were very dear to my heart. Pennies they will not see from this gamer anymore. I only wish they’d step back and realize that mainstream is not the end-all-be-all.

Resident Evil will NEVER be Call of Duty. Call of Duty fans play Call of Duty..that’s often ALL they play. (Often, not always). And I can certainly say it’ll never reach COD sales..so Capcom is stabbing fans over a pipe dream. Enough of that.
