EA has pretty much confirmed that we will be have individual Nintendo Network ID’s when we take our Wii U console’s online. The information was revealed in EA’s privacy policy, which details exactly how you will play EA games online using the Nintendo Network. By signing up to EA’s Origin you will need to transfer data to the company, including your Nintendo Network ID.
If you sign up to play EA games through a Nintendo Wii U console, your Nintendo account information will be provided to EA so that we can establish an Origin Account for you. You need an Origin Account to play EA’s titles online. By signing up to play EA’s titles, you agree that limited user account information can be transferred to EA. Information transferred to EA includes your Mii information, email address, Nintendo Network ID, friend list, country, language and date of birth but does not include credit card number or other financial account information.
So does that mean an account username or a friend code -.,-
Usernames, friend codes are dead now.
Nope, alive and kicking according to Nintendo.
I’m pretty sure they said the Wii U still has friend codes, they’re just not as prominent now.
In other words, dead.
If they were dead they wouldn’t be in use at all.
Wii U most likely has friend codes for backwards compatibility. If it didn’t you wouldn’t be able to play mario kart online with your friends or any other game that uses friend codes (animal crossing city folk, etc).
You may be right wich means that we should have writh down our old wii code
Also it will be cool to trnsfer my friends from the 3ds by just using the code
A good idea!!! but the wiiu is a different system , so what if one of your 3ds friends never buys a wiiu ???
It would be ABSOLOUTLY IMMENSE if the wiiu and 3ds could communicate with each other via a swapnote update or a new application :)!!
Wait a minute!! Nintendo said Miiverse apps are going to smartphone and 3ds and pc already :D
well they said, 3DS will have an update to support miiverse, so they could be comunicated by FC because the 3DS use it, but Wii U to Wii U might be as simple as an username instead of FC
They could just have a seperate code for Wii games…
Yeah like how mario kart ds gave you a friend code for that single game.
I think you missed his point. He means where you use a single friend code stored on the console for ALL games for that console, like with the 3DS. It’s not possible for Wii and DS games, since all of them had their own friend codes.
Well, each console will have a network ID, but you’d probably have a username, too.
You can be identified on your origin account by your username, email, or nintendo network id.
The Nintendo Network ID could be a username, but it also could be a friend code (which are present on the Wii U). For comparison on Steam (the best Online Network) you have a SteamID which is a series of random numbers and you have a CommunityID which is also a random string of numbers which actually has 1 more number than a Wii friend code. Obviously on Steam though you also have a username.
Thank GOD there’s an account system now :D
I second that, Bulby. What we need next is Valve’s Steam to confirm Nintendo Network’s ID to play online.
Meh, its not really that bad of news, it actually sounds better than the stupid friend-codes system that they used on the DS and Wii
It’s isn’t though, it’s just a different name.
But you forgot its a heavily modified version of the Friend-Code system which Nintendo are saying is actually on par with PSN account names and XBL accounts.
I’ve never heard that before. You got A Link to the Source?
I so need to use that term, thats epic
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. I hate Origin with a passion. Hopefully Steam should be coming to Wii U in the foreseeable future. Gabe Newell has said he’s interested in the Wii U. Valve might even be working on a Wii U game right now. HL2:E3 anyone?
Gabe also said he was interested in Wiii…. and look what happened…
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? HOW CAN YOU HATE SOMETHING THAT YOU HAVE JUST PROVEN YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THE USAGE OF? And Steam? On Wii U? You must be having a laugh.
Mate, I have had BAD experiences with Origin in the past. It’s bad, ok? Steam on Wii U, why not?
Indeed, Origin just sucks
It sucks more than dracula
If Steam can be on PS3 and the fact that Gabe spoke about his love for the Wii U then yeah, Steam on Wii U is a possibility
^ This. Also, I believe he said that Super Mario 64 was his favourite game (or at least in his top 3). He also said that he loves Nintendo and Miyamoto, so Steam on Wii U isn’t just possible, it’s likely.
Gabe doesnt know what 3 is :/
We dont have to use Origin, it basically says they sign us up for them. Most EA games are shite anyway
EA just takes charge of any game they can. I had to go through the ‘EA Grinding Process’ as I like to call it when I signed up for Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Portal 3 anyone?
THANK GOD!!!
THANK GOD!!!
Uhhh. How is this bad news a Nintendo Network ID is literally the equivalent to a GamerTag or PSN ID. Even on those platforms, you are required to have an Origin account to play online as well you just link your PSN/GT to your Origin account
EA is so damn stubborn, they wanted Nintendo to use origin from the start, now theyre requiring players to have an origin account to play EA online on the wii U…
it has ben like this on all consoles ,you knew if you where multy console gamer
That’s no big deal
So we get usernames?
Dibs on BonerFarts.
Cool username idea XD. Mines would be MouthFullOfSeaMan lol
Haha ive seen some epic names online before like MoeLester and MyHughJass
Borderlands 2 :D!!! I was laughing outloud when bullymongs were temporarily renamed boner farts!!! Game moment of the year 2012!!!!
My favourite part was the Shooty McFace mission.
Yeh I loved that too!!! all the missions were fantastic (a couple slightly repetitive) . 9.5/10 – NEEDS to be played coop!
Somebody wake me up when in EA is in Administration….
Nintendo I.d sounds very promising.
People making points that voice chat is a feature in progress makes me feel like Nintendo is gonna put someone outta business lol
I have zero issue with this. Xbox 360 and PS3 both have the exact same Origin/EA network crap – so this is no fault of Nintendo and rather an EA thing.
Also, i have no problems with friend codes as long as i only have to input one code per friend to add to a universal friend list that applies to all games. So instead of adding a gamertag like xbox, i add a friend code. Same difference.
If there are diff friend codes per game, then I’ll be disappointed – but i doubt there will be
I think the nintendo id is just the nameof the service like the xboxlive tag and psn
See nothing wrong with this.
So does that mean the Wii U’s online is origin based or is EA just trying to fuck people into making an origin account to play their games online?…
second one
Nintendo did say they still had friend codes, but I guess that just means user names to them.
People keep mistaking reggie What he said was that they were going to keep it the same but change it very slightly in order to help make friend codes easier to use such as when you put down the friend code it sends a request to be friends,Etc
sorry ea, not buying your games ever
All in all a baby xbox live, Online gaming nowadays is a another social platform. Just woundering if I should get this for my daughter on christmas or just stick to a mimi laptop?
i love how the DERPS ARE POINTING AT NINTENDO FOR A EA ISSUE got to love a derp
So nintendo is just changin the name from nintendo wi fi to network add some future and wala…no improvment..no chat..stupid friend codes..am glad i cancel my preorder abd get the ps3 i will give a year to the wii u to make everything right or the wii and 3ds will be the last to nintendos at my house i cabt belice they steal doing the same shiet…i love you nintendo but you need to ste up and show that you are the fu…g BIG N
Enjoy the PS3 that will die in a year when the PS4 comes. lol
Did you forget about how long the ps2 was still supported after ps3 came out. The ps3 is still going to have games in 3 years
Did you even read the article? Also, none of that was confirmed so stop talking out of your ass.
Ok… And thanks for freeing up a WiiU for someone who actually wants one.
CAN THE FRIENDS CODE MYTH PLEASE BE PUT TO BED IV ONLINE GAMED ON WII AND CHATTED TO 100S OF PEOPLE NEVER EVER USED A FRIENDS CODE THE WHOLE THING WAS BLOWN OUT OF ALL REALITY AND WIIU ISNT LIKE THAT ANYWAY
ITS LIKE THE HARDRIVE CLOWNS LOL THERE BE FLASH SOLID STATE DRIVES AND USB DRIVES AND CARDS ITS 2012 NOT FUUKING 1890
This makes me happier than a Slinky on an escalator.
Fuck EA. I don’t have Origin and do NOT want Origin. They can kiss my ass.
I’m okay with this. I prefer accounts.
But Origin accounts on the other hand…
Hopefully they don’t screw their games over on the Wii U like on the PC.
Pingback: Wii U online play needs Nintendo Network ID according to EA | NintendoGlobe
So as long as it’s only for EA’s games, I’m fine. Although I do wonder what the NN ID is. The next Nintendo Direct can’t come soon enough!
So that means #Nintendo and #EA have worked out a deal concerning the origin sage and are now friends again
Origin huh, well the PS3 and 360 signs you up for an EA account when you play a game by EA, happened to me when I first played Hot Pursuit. I’ve had a bad experience with Origin, ordered Mass Effect 2 on the 360 when it was on sale and it took forever for it to ship. I just hope it’s for EA’s games and not the entire online experience in general, and that one seems more likely.
As long as this doesn’t include all wii u games,I’m okay.I’m not buying any ea games for wii u anyway.
