Why reveal it overtime when they can just have it ready out of the box? Especially when it might be features that other platforms might already have.

There can sometimes be complications that could happen if they just shove it all at the consumer at once, this could also be the reason why Nintendo are holding back on letting people uses the GamePad’s microphone as the default mic.
This is good because it means that the developers and the consumers can settle into the console without having to worry about the console dying within a month of turning the thing on. Plus, it means it would give Nintendo the chance to make the system work perfectly
i have the feeling it would be like an iphone. the stuff is already there, they just dont allow the software to support it. bring an update and boom it works (well the iphone is not like that in that point)

Guys, like I said this is a good thing because it means that developers and consumers aren’t overwhelmed by all of the features at once which would damage the console literally because it means the system would have to multitask which console aren’t designed for and it could damage the RAM and the CPU of the system.
Slowly introducing the features will also help people settle down slowly into the Wii U and it would mean less stress and a more relaxing time… until you start playing ZombiU.

That’s not a rumor, it’s comment posted by someone at an online forum. It was discussed on GAF and it seems all of it was nothing more than a hate post. The only thing that will be absent at launch will be support of dual gamepads since no game will support that. Miiverse has already been shown to the public and explained to some extend. Nintendo did say that Miiverse support on the 3DS and on smartphones would come at a later date. NFC already comes with the system, but the sofware itself is the one that will not work at launch.

Not to include something that should be ready, that’s been shown, and that has been praised should be some sort of death sentence. I’m a bit disappointed by that. I just managed to pre-order it and now I won’t have the full features? Let’s just hope this is a rumor.
Though I will say that adding in multiple gamepad support, and holding off on selling extras, is a good idea. If it’s not needed for anything, don’t add it. But I’d think having a bunch of stuff to play with would probably keep people playing around with it. I love exploring new features of things.

I do really hope this is but a rumor! One of the key features is the Miiverse! If they take it away, the sells will drop until they make it available, just like what happened to the 3DS! You said you’ve learned from your mistakes, Nintendo, don’t repeat them now!
Until Nintendo says anything, it’s merely a rumor. I do accept the NFC and dual GamePads reasoning, specially because those two are still new and no developers managed to utilize them yet. But as for Miiverse, that’s absurd. That is one of the selling points of Wii U, marking the console to be fully online supported! Not making it available at launch is pure idiocy!

Besides, we’ve seen too much to make me believe the majority of these features won’t be available at launch. TVii is supposed to be available at launch, as well as the eshop. Miiverse is supposed to be integrated into the entire system, and some launch games. Hell, it’s basically the OS itself from what we’ve seen, so it wouldn’t make sense to not have it at launch.
But even if they aren’t available right away, who cares? People always say, “you gotta get these things ready for launch”, but that’s not true. Most consoles don’t have everything ready at launch, and it doesn’t hurt them in the long run. It’s probably wiser to release your console in time for the holiday shopping season and black friday than it is to wait, make sure it has every possible feature, and release it during a dead period.
Idk about you, but I’d rather get it sooner, start playing games sooner, and wait for updates to add extra stuff then wait longer for the entire console. That is, if this “rumor” is true.

They could use the introduction of specific features to highlight games that take the fullest advantage of them, after all, and that’s always a good thing.
I got to play the Wii U today[demo kiosk, Rayman Origins], and it only made me more convinced that the system is going to do just fine.
The controller, I would say, is roughly the same weight as a PS3 controller, which surprised me considering it’s technically larger, so it didn’t get tiring to hold.
The buttons aren’t too far apart, the curves on the back of the controller truly do give it a traditional-feeling grip, everything was perfectly responsive, there was literally zero latency between actions on the controller and TV, and looking between the controller and TV screen wasn’t an irk factor at all.
It only got me more excited to see what is in store for games like Razor’s Edge and Bayonetta 2: The controller feels so much more traditional than I thought it would. I honestly didn’t feel like I was holding anything that would take getting used to. At all. Which was awesome, since that meant I got used to it right away and was fully able to enjoy my short time with it.
I can’t wait to grab my own, for Zombie U and the others I’ve mentioned, among some I have not…
