Nintendo Rolls Out 5,000 Wii U Kiosks to Let Shoppers Play Before Launch Day

Holiday shoppers from coast to coast will soon get a firsthand look and hands-on time with Nintendo’s groundbreaking new Wii U console. Starting now, more than 5,000 interactive Wii U kiosks will roll out at select retail stores across the United States, inviting families and consumers to discover the unique gaming and entertainment experiences made possible by Wii U and its touch-screen Wii U GamePad controller.

Participating retailers include Target, Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart and Toys ‘R’ Us. 1. I’ve been to a few stores that have these kiosks up, but all of them only include a playable demo for Rayman Legends and then a bunch of videos for other launch titles. When I can try out Nintendo Land, I’m all over it!

  2. I sort of dont want to play it or see it in person until I buy one on launch day. Don’t really know why but I think it’s because I’ve been waiting for more then a year and want all my excitement to burst out all at once and by playing it before hand will ruin it… I think that’s it.

    1. Same here, if I played it in store, it kinda takes the excitement out of unboxing it and playing it on launch day. I didn’t touch a demo 3DS until I already had mine (to try out Street Fighter on).

  3. The GameStop right outside my neighborhood has one. Rayman Legends was really fun, more fun than any recent 2D console platformer i’ve played (haven’t played DKCR yet). I might actually get it :)

      1. Last time I was in GS, no Wii U station was set up (And I never bothered to ask if one was coming). Same with Best Buy. It doesn’t concern me a lot.

  5. I played the demo for Rayman legends at a local gamespot. Man, that game looks beautiful! and I am very impress with the Wii U console. Well done, Nintendo, you got yourself a client.

  7. It’s about time. Nintendo waited WAY too late to do this. They should have had these in stores 2 months ago.
