Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced earlier today that the Wii U Plaza will be called WaraWara Plaza in the West. WaraWara is Japanese and translates to “bustling” in English. In the Plaza you can see what other fellow gamers are playing, as well as what gamers are talking about. Here’s all the information you need about MiiVerse from todays Nintendo Direct.
Still better then 360 & PS3.
Yeah, that’s funny.
No. This name is childish and sounds like some kind of bush tribe from Africa.
wat the probs with africa…racist
Actually it sounds like a busy plaza :P わらわら
I farted so loud I woke the dog up.
You should know not to wake the dog when it’s sleeping. ;)
I prefer “Miiverse”
Miiverse refers to the whole online interface, not just the screen.
Fun Fact: In English Walla is the sound of a crowd murmuring.
Do you mean warawara?
Miiverse and WaraWara Plaza are different. You post something on Miiverse and that will eventually appear on WaraWara Plaza (which is just the name for the screen you see above)
Ah, I see. The post’s title confused me a bit, as I thought the plaza and Miiverse in general were one in the same.
That’s funky.. I can deal.
Imagine Dark Souls on Wii U … the Miiverse will be overloaded by ” I need help ” comments.
So true
I love the look of it but goddamnit Nintendo, your product naming as of late has left a lot to desire.
I like the name of Wiiu an 3DS. But wara wara plaza ? hmmmmmmmm
I like it, but then I love Japan and am learning Japanese. In a way Nintendo helps new a bit with random words.
I love Japan too ^_^!!! Don’t know why (probably becuase of the gaming industry) but they have an amazing culture.
Also their media (video games, tv shows, and comics) are way more enjoyable and creative than the West. Though, there are a few acceptions like Disney, Marvel, DC Comics, Ubisoft, and so on.
Indeed!! America and EU have some Great Media and entertainment , but I think Japan stands out more to us westerners becuase it is so different.
And their women look the best.
japan is cool and all
but their women arent that cool, well not to me
i prefer european girls =O
Yeh , nuttin wrong with EU girls!
I like all this stuf Nintendo is doing. It looks great and I wish people would stop comparing it to 360 and ps3 :/ . it’s gunna be awesome to have all this new stuff unique to the WiiUltima
It will be interesting to see how someone in Australia such as myself will be able to interact and friend them with someone overseas in Miiverse.
interact with*
Come to this site tell your wiiu user name and if we want we ad you
I imagine it will all work seamlessly :)
I’m sure the actual english translation will be changed.
Hopefully, you’re right.
I’m pretty sure this is the Japanese name, not the English name.
Nope, it’s the english name buddy. :3
Yep, my friends confirmed it to me.
Never got the memo until then. Pretty sweet name, though it’ll be quite the tongue twister.
Warawara? Hmm sure why not. =) That surely will raise some eyebrows.
Looks so cool! Better than the other systems in terms of connectivity.
Ill just call it wara plaza. Or wara zone
Wara means to laugh/straw in Japanese although for laugh it is more correctly written warau, the u extends the sound of the a.
WaraWara? Seriously?
Don’t know why you’re surprised, they mentioned this at E3 in June.
I will still call it Miiverse.
Miiverse is the name of the entire online interface, not just this screen.
love Nintendo <3
but WaraWara plaza? are u fkin kidding me?
Is just called wara wara in japan sickr just maded a title typo
No he didn’t :p
Lol f*ck you nintendo. I can’t pronounce that sh*t
Guess I’ll go old school PBS cartoon “Arthur” and call it “D.W.” xD
It’s not hard pronounce :T
it is for me, unless there’s a pause between the first “wara” and the second “wara”. Sayin it fast makes me wanna say “wawawawa”. I don’t wanna say it too slow or else i’ll risk sounding like i’m in special needs
The ‘R’s in Japanese are kind of like a mix between the English ‘L’ and ‘D’ sound. After you practice a bit, you should be able to pronounce it better.
haha warawars, that japanese languege is soooo confused
Oh the irony haha
ENGLISH WII U NINTENDO DIRECT! SPREAD THE WORD! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZIpfOEb_80&feature=g-all-u
Finally
I thought WaraWara Plaza was the Japanese name and Wii U Plaza was the Western one?
You are correct
No he isn’t :p
New trailer? New trailer. NoA WiiU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZIpfOEb_80
I don’t mind what its called, I will just call it the plaza.
But it maybe good if the call it as “UMiiVerse” similar to the word Universe and MiiVerse (Past name of warawara plaza) :P
Wii U Mii Plaza in the Western name. Warawara is the name the will use in the East.
Nope :3
The article is correct, it will be called Warawara plaza in the west :3

Um… how about no.
It’s fine for a Japanese name, but in English it becomes vague and sounds weird to people.
Heads up. Warawara Plaza will also be the official name for the west
Thank you. :)
What a terrible name…
Who else is confused with the Nintendo network i.d
sheesh
it’s just a name and people are already getting their panties in a twist
what’s the big deal
I know right? :P
Yeah this plaza is “bustling” indeed.
I’m still not calling it like that.
I’d rather call it “Mii Park” or something more american, like “Home Screen”.
Name = Massive dissapointment
yeah I’ll call it wiiu plaza thank you.
People who have an issue with the name are the same people who had an issue with calling the System Wii and then Wii U. A name doesnt effect the preformance. A name is a bunch of letters seriously. Why must it sound HArDcoreZ?
well it’s a japanese product.. i’m confronted with english product names, even though english isn’t my native language, every day.. can’t see me complaining.. or the rest of the world
frankly people who complain about a japanese name on a japanese product are ignorant turds
I really like the name. Warawara is the japanese word of the sound a group of people make when talking. On the WaraWara Plaza the same thing happens, so the name really fits the situation (or whatever I have to call it)…
Reblogged this on hypersonic55 and commented:
I liked the design of WaraWara Plaza and it does look much fancier than it did back at E3. While it’ll take a bit of time to adjust to the new name of this Plaza all I can say is that I can’t wait to try it out and connect with people!
WaraWara Plaza is fun to say. :3 I can imagine a crowd of people on the streets chanting “WaraWara Plaza” while playing the Mario theme in an orchestral manner. That’s just the way I imagine it. You might think of the name as a crappy, pointless one, but I’m fond of how the name is pronounced. its fun to say really.
Also, when ghey showed it off at E3, I saw a logo with Samus Aran on it. I SENSE A NEW METROID TITLE FOR WII U!!!!
