Nintendo America Explains Wii U’s Nintendo Network, Miiverse And Internet Browser In This New Video

Nintendo of America’s Bill Trinen talks about many essential Wii U features, including the Nintendo Network, Miiverse and Internet Browser, in the video above.

Miiverse is a network where players can share their feelings with others; for example, if you are struggling on a particular level within a game, let other Wii U users know how you feel so that they’ll attempt to help you. Defeat a challenging, ruthless boss, and let other players know of your triumph so that they’ll congratulate you.

To access the Nintendo eShop for Wii U, Miiverse, Nintendo TVii and Wii U Chat, you must have a Nintendo Network ID. To register for a Nintendo Network ID, a player must enter a password, birth date, gender, location and e-mail address.

  1. The features look awesome! I’m glad to see that things like the internet and MiiVerse can be accessed without quitting the game! I’m really excited for this, I can’t wait to see it for myself!

        1. They are working on that so it’ll eventually come, just like cross game-chat will eventually come and, hopefully due to Nintendo considering achievements, those will come as well. They did say that not every feature will be available at launch after all.

        1. If Walmart doesn’t work try target in stores. I’ve seen a couple people putting pictures on instagram with their preorders from today. I have three in target but the store I preordered from is real far away so ima try going to a few walmarts at midnight to see if I can get one.

  2. Nice presentation. I like the bit with the orange. Miiverse seems really easy to use. They only show the black Wii U these days. It’s like the white one doesn’t exist for most people. They may discontinue it if there’s no demand for it. Leave luck to heaven.

    1. If I had enough money for a external hard drive, I would have bought the white one. I really won’t use the storage too much, due that I will buy my games on stores.

      1. I’m the same way. I most likely won’t be downloading a lot of stuff, but I want all the little accessories that will be coming with the Deluxe Set and Nintendo Land.

  3. I love everything about this video, from Miiverse to the internet brower to the….orange…. :P

So let’s see, we’ve got Satoru with bananas, Bill with an orange. What’s next, Miyamoto with a papaya?

  4. Just being honest with you guys :|

I REALLY hope, during a game, you can invite people to your lobby (with confirmation) who aren’t your friends. >__<

  5. Everyone Who Plays Games

I’m guessing the fruits are leading up to an Animal Crossing type of announcement. In Animal Crossing, you’re always trying to grow the fruit of other towns so that you can sell them at a higher price.

  6. I would still like to see some online gameplay. I’m not a huge online fan but I do like playing games like Call of Duty or Mario Kart online. Nintendo would know this so I’m not worried.

  7. I don’t know how this is relevant but on launch day I’m going to try and sell Nintendo Land for maybe $10 cheaper to someone who bought the basic set. It’s not that I don’t like it, but it’s more of a party game than solo even though it has some solo attractions. 9.5/10 I’m a solo gamer.

    1. They really should have had it you choosing the game or at least bundling it with Mario instead. I have no use for Nintendo land so paying extra for a game I wouldn’t really play cause of lack of friends doesn’t make sense to buy.

      1. The point of Nintendo-Land is to serve as a method of getting people familiar with the controller. Thats why it was bundled instead of something else.

  8. How Nintendo will stop people from doing virtual sex cam with the Wii U chat ? And all thoses pedos everywhere lol ?

    1. If Nintendo finds out anyone is using the Wii U inappropriately, Reggie will come crack you over the head with a Wii Balance Board, Iwata will toss a barrel at you, Miyamoto will stomp on your head, and Cammie Dunaway will give you a nasty blowjob.

  9. Reggie "My Body Is Ready" Fils-Aime

Is it time yet? Can we declare Nintendo dead? Yes we can! Welcome Ninwendo! (Win) Pretty sure we could have done this a while ago considering Nintendo makes the like the best consoles ever. Mhm… I mean Ninwendo… Don’t worry the same people are in charge and everything we just voted that since the Wii U has chance of declaring Nintendomination we can exchange that T with a W.

  10. I’m really excited now that I know what some of their online structure is like. I just picked up my reserve for Assassin’s Creed III today and was looking at the Nintendo Network logo like, “Hmmm, how is this gonna work?” I should open it and read the manual.. Maybe that’ll help.

  11. I wonder…what if you play Smash Brow Brawl on the Wii U though? Would that use the Nintendo Network and their fore no laggy online matches??? I hope so.

  12. That plaza looked pretty awesome and not just WaraWara Plaza. Lol that orange was epic.
Hm, seems like this time they’ve thought it all out now; ah, i’m gonna play Nintendo Land like crazy for a while xD

    1. You missed out on the orange man, also can someone send me a link for the video with Iwata and bananas? I remember hearing about it but I don’t think I watched it.

  13. The miiverse seems like the thing I’ve been waiting for from Nintendo since pictochat; some robust form of online where I can message other people – and not in the slow way like Wii and not quite swapnote but in a real kind of forum or IM kind of service. This is good! :D

  14. What was with the orange at the end? xD first Iwata staring at a banana, now that

Anyway, this actually explained alot, and it looks awesome.
Im going to be using that browser all the time for collectable guides xD

  15. I guess it’s a good thing I don’t have Internet connection at the moment (typing from school).

Just like any new network infrastructure, day-1 users will have slow connections and even crashes/errors. Think of it like the time people wanted to log into their PSN account last year to claim their free games after the system was restored. It was madness. I don’t expect as much of an issue here since it’s a new system that will start out in one region (U.S.), but you should expect a few hiccups here and there. As more people access the system over time, it’ll become more fluid.

    1. You sir never used eShop, have you? I don’t know why you say it’s a good thing you don’t have internet connection. Sure there are some issues, but they did a good job and WiiU will have the 3DS eShop experience plus new network system. Hiccups are common in everything even the actual PSN/LIVE, are you just making excuses because you don’t have internet connection yet? I mean, why not having a connection is good since the Nintendo Network service is new? Logic?

  17. Did he just parody Iwata’s banana thing with an orange? This guy’s got guts messing with things his bosses do. Though, of course they approve it first, but still pretty funny
