Miiverse Moderation Already In Full Effect

It looks as though Nintendo had stayed true to its word and is moderating Miiverse content vigorously. Destructiod editor Jim Sterling posted the above message on Nintendo’s social network before the system was even sold to the public, and it was swiftly removed. Yes, the offending message was deleted within two hours of its appearance. Anyone else had a similar experience?

      1. That’s so stupid, especially because he was just QUOTING THE GAME. They should at least only block comments for people of the appropriate age. For example, a quote from a rated M game could only be blocked for people under 17.

            1. well a glitch then.. as if those never happened before on a console

certainly not an unbiased way of comparing the graphics ;)

            2. Yeah, its a glitch.

Batman Arkham City is a PORT. I’m guessing your the same person who said Skyrim for the PS3 was the ultimate version

        1. Played BO2 on the 360 at my friends house, today tried out BO2 on the wii u. Same graphical port, just crispier smoother lighting, so yea, personal gameplay other than a silly screen shot comparison tells more.

        2. Right, because one developer’s screw-up shows off the full potential of the system.
You’re just a dull half-assed hater like the rest of the trolls.
          Get back under your bridge.

          1. It’s all about the games for me. You seem to be the one obsessed with specs and yet PS4 and 720 wont have the latest tech so suck a dick.

            1. good specs = 3rd party support. the wii had inferior specs s missed out on the big games.

its a big deal to me personally. I got a wiiU right now and zombiU is awesome. but i am scared that the true next gen consoles will come and take it all away

              AGAIN

              1. You don’t have a wiiu you little queer lol. Also you don’t know the full power of the specs. They could end up being extremely powerfull. Not explaining to you though cus you appear to have the brain of a spastic.

              2. Dude. Calm your ass. The Ps4 and 720 aren’t going to be much better than the Wii U. If they were to be so much better as everybody claims then they would be fricken expensive as hell even more so than the Ps3’s $599 launch price tag. And the 360 launched a year earlier than the Ps3 and its specs were better than the 360 and it got crud ports from the 360. The Wii U dev kits are already in the hands of developers and Wii U launched a year or two earlier than the Ps4 and 720. Giving Nintendo a huge lead in the 8th gen market. Devs wouldn’t abandon a system right after a “better” one comes out. They didnt abandon the 360 when the Ps3 came out and they wont abandon the Wii U.

                1. He just wants Microsoft to shove a dildo with the name “Xbox 720” up his ass and pay them $600 for it.

Wii U is still next gen in my opinion, hell over a million people bought the Wii U last night

                1. i dont hate it at all. i love zombiU and mario. But the future is very bleak if it cant handle even a batman port! the textures are awful!

                  1. Then why the hell are you here in the first place, Hypocritefanboy? You’re just like a blood sucking tick… except the fact that your tears tastes so good. Keep pouring them tears. I’m thirsty!

        1. I’ll never understand why people feed the Trolls all you have to do is keep scrolling…..this goes fo every one that replied to him.

      1. Dude Thatcher’s a Wii the wiiu is longer then that console on the picture, and it is strange that it is open but they don’t know how much edram it got

      2. that info doesn’t add up one bit
he says there’s only 4 chips.. yet one chip of that model is only 256MB in size as indicated by the pdf he linked.. what does that add up to?
i’ll answer that one for you: 1GB
how much total system ram does the wii-u reportedly have?
let me answer that one for you again: 2GB

so either he is trolling or the chip model number they’ve used in the wii-u does NOT correlate to the model numbers they use in retail which would mean that this could be a completely different chip

besides: he read the info wrong
256×16 does not imply that it’s 16 bit IO per chip but it states the number of chips on a module
256×16=4GB which is exactly the size of the module in question
the bus on DDR3 chips is always 64 bits wide
        64bits *2133*10^6Hz (dual data rate thus 1066MHz*2 effective frequency) /8 (convert bits to bytes) = 17064000000byte/s = 17064MB/s (decimal) or 16273MiB/s (binary)

not to mention that in dual channel mode bandwidth is doubled =34GB/s which would be entirely possible for the wii-u

don’t just take everything you read on the internet at face value while lacking the technical background knowledge

        1. i’ve taken a look at the video now
there are in fact 4 chips (18:00+) , however i haven’t heard them mention the model number that’s on the chips (if someone knows where in the video they say that please tell me, i’m not going to watch the whole 1 1/2 hours of it)

this still leaves us where we left off tho.. the model number and the chip size don’t match
so either whoever related the model number was lying (or mixing up the numbers) or the chips in the wii-u and the chips in retail are not the same in spite of their model number

        1. Yeh. The textures haven’t popped in there. Why does everywhere else on the video look completely and utterly superior ?
Darksiders 2 looks better on the wiiu aswell and can be played in your bed on the gamepad. I don’t really understand what there is to hate about wiiu even from a 360 and ps3 fanboys perspective.

Can’t you just be happy that Nintendo is pushing the industry forward , which i may remind you is seizing up into a CoD fest.
The more successfull the wiiu is , the more Sony and Microsoft have to step their game up, comprende ?

Competition is healthy. And so what if the ps4 and 720 are more powerfull. If gaming PC’s are anything to go by , they won’t hardly look any different to wiiu at all.

      1. dude. that screenshot is from that very same video!

yes it looks better in some parts but that screenshot i posted is the most horrible thing i have ever seen. where is the ign source?

    1. Thanks for showing us a glitch, I’ll make sure to avoid that ^^

I love how even at your “trolling harder” stage you still fail, oh my oh my XD

Make sure next time that there are no glitches on screen before you post because it just made your argument invalid

    2. Ever heard of texture bugs lad? Yeah i saw this though and i was surprised but putting in a little knowledge made me find out it was a texture bug. especially seeing that there was a video of this and everything else looked WAY nicer.

    3. That’s clearly a fake screenshot. I’m glad I’m not a fanboy, I’m gonna enjoy the Wii U for what it is, just like I did with the Wii. Yeah, and I play on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, as well.

    4. Such a shame you ps3tards/xbots doesn’t think wii u is next gen

Was PS3 and Xbox graphics were like they are now? Hell no they looked like PS2 and that the same it happening to Wii U and graphics are nothing to make console next gen it about gameplay i think the atari jaguar proved that more graphics shitty gameplay

what you gotta say to that NEXT FANBOYS PS3TARDS/XBOTS?

  1. What? They removed a message because it included the word “idiot”? Oh Jesus Christ… This is ridiculous. Fine, delete expletives but this? I think a good rule would be, if it’s not allowed on TV before 9pm, it’s not allowed on Wii U. Does that sound fair? But this is pathetic, can’t believe the ironic idiocy on Nintendo’s part.

      1. Yeah, that’s why Nintendo allowed a game where you go insane and has dark images is really a kids game… *Cough cough* Eternal Darkness *Cough cough*

  3. It’s posted in the community for Batman, which like a 16+ game, so it shouldn’t be removed. That’s just stupid. Maybe some of the worst swear words and graphic speech about violence or whatever should be moderated regardless, but in a community about that game, they’re just being way over-cautious. hopefully when everywhere else gets it too, there will be so many messages that they’ll be a little more lax on it, since they’ll have to prioritise.

  4. Seems excessive, but it will turn out to be a good thing because you know there will be the types of people to go on Miiverse just to cause trouble. Maybe you can change the settings and allow a more adult friendly environment, but if not no big deal. Leave luck to heaven.

    1. I would hope you can change settings, but it says the post was deleted. You would think depending on parental control settings or whatever, it would just be hidden.

  5. If they’re going to have harsh moderation like that, they should think about the context…If it’s in the section of a forum for a 16+ game for example, the restrictions should be lower than those of a 3+ game. Especially when a post gets deleted for something it has quoted from the game it’s discussing

  6. I don’t think it was the words that was being said, but maybe it was an unmarked spoiler, not a message with horrible words such as idiot and stupid,

  7. I don’t think they should have removed. I mean if it had the f-word, then that’s fine to remove it. But that post didn’t even have any bad language…

I think what they should so is allow parents to block their kids from seeing posts with certain words. But whatever. At least we have Miiverse in the first place!

  8. A lot of people don’t seem to realize this but it looks likes like Sterling was testing out the miiverse moderation. Doctor Octopus isn’t even in Batman, it just seemed like a spoiler from the moderator’s point of view.

    1. This is the ESRB rating for Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition. I hardly think someone playing a game with this kind of content would find the words “Shut up idiot!” offensive. lol

      Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition
      Platform: Wii U
      Rating: T for Teen

Content descriptors: Alcohol Reference, Blood, Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Tobacco, Violence

Rating summary: This is an action-adventure game featuring characters from the Batman franchise. Players assume the role of Batman as he investigates Arkham City, a neighborhood overrun by psychopathic criminals and former prison inmates. As players explore the city and infiltrate hideouts, they punch and kick criminals in melee-style combat, using various gadgets (e.g., explosive gel, smoke pellets, a grappling gun) to defend themselves against gun-wielding thugs and villains. The frenetic combat is highlighted by cries of pain, punching sounds, realistic gunfire, and slow-motion effects. In some sequences, players must solve puzzles or use stealth to incapacitate enemies and free hostages; when players fail a challenge, the hostage will lose his life. Some environments contain bloodstains on the floor or furniture; other cutscenes depict spots of blood on injured characters. During the course of the game, some female characters are dressed in form-fitting outfits that expose large amounts of cleavage; one background sign depicts the silhouette of a woman and the words “Live Nude.” The dialogue also contains some suggestive references (e.g., “The anger, the frustration, the hints of repressed sexual tension” and “Sure could go for some porn right now.”). One sequence depicts a character smoking a cigar, and there are various references to alcohol (e.g., “She got a little drunk and killed her classmates,” “I’d give anything for a nice cold beer right now.”). The words “b*tch,” “a*s,” and “bastard” can be heard in dialogue.

  10. “…and it was swiftly removed. Yes, the offending message was deleted within two hours of its appearance.”

Two hours is swift? Yup. I don’t think any little kid could have possible seen that in TWO HOURS!” (considering the fact that there aren’t that many actually on yet, in comparison on those that will as this process picks up speed). And it definitely didn’t give about a THOUSAND other morons to comment even worse on that comment. This should work out great. Just like in PlayStation Home. Little kids running around getting harassed and having pervs hit on them unmercifully. I kinda figured it would be like this. I was hoping for better.
