Iwata Says ZombiU Will ‘Become A Seminal Title’ For Wii U

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has heaped praise on ZombiU calling the game a seminal title for Wii U. Iwata then went on to say that he believes the game will be a big success in North America, Europe, Australia and Japan, due to the innovative ways the game utilises the Wii U GamePad. Here’s a few excerpts from the latest edition of Iwata Asks.

“I get the feeling that ZombiU will become the focus of attention, not just in Europe, but around the world including Japan.”

“I look forward to ZombiU becoming a seminal title, complimenting Nintendo’s own efforts to showcase the reason why Wii U had to have the Wii U GamePad as its controller by demonstrating yet another way of doing things.”

“I think that Ubisoft have succeeded more than any other company at establishing a new franchise using the Wii Remote. Why do you think the company has managed to do so well there? I’d be very interested to hear your thoughts! (Laughs)”

“The most fundamental aspect of video games is that compulsion every time you slip up to give it just one more go.”

“Once it gets to the point where it seems utterly impossible, players begin to lose enthusiasm; if it’s done right though, players will want to keep retrying despite the difficulty.”

    1. Not exactely that…… it means that this title will be important for future titles, as an influence of reference

  1. ZombiU is a very good game. I would give it an 8/10 .
And he’s right , it’s just like NSMBU on challenge mode where you keep failing and feeling compelled to retry until you finish.

I’m pretty sure I could finish the Hardcore Survival mode on zombiU with just an ounce more practice. Learning where all the health packs are , being cautions and looting every corpse and using the sewers to go back to the safehouse to save the game is the key to beating it!

    1. Yes true but ubisoft kind of screwed Nintendo by not using wii u maximum potential. But hopefully the bayonetta game will be the game to show wii u maximum potential.

      1. No , they didn’t screw Nintendo , they’ve done NIntendo a HUGE favour , Especially with the High quality port of AC3 (which runs beautifully , might I add on my wiiu) And Rayman Legends is exclusive , it’s major support.

ZombiU is a rushed Launch title , and it’s perfect for that. The graphics are actually GOOD imo. Not great , not even as good as AC3. But they do show off the lighting of the wiiu to the max. ANd the setting is eerily realistic at times.

A very immersive Game that with more time and polish could be a near perfect game.

      2. Dream on. It’ll be five or so years until the Wii U’s max potential is reached. Developers are only just maxing out the Xbox 360 and PS3 now.

  2. It definitly got the ball rolling in terms of how the gamepad, and WiiU can change gaming, it just up to developers to do the same, and think of new ideas

  3. I think the game should get a sequel. Based on all the reactions of the players, ubisoft should really consider it. And if given more time for development, it could be better in every way.

      1. I was thinking tokyo would be a cool place for a setting.
I think there they should continue having the sets in unique places. not in america…

            1. Canada or somewhere with heavy snow would be fucking awesome, they could throw a deep survival aspect with that

  4. I really did expect this to be another Red Steel, but amazingly it isn’t, it’s got a great feel about it and the player death mechanic is refreshingly original. I thought the graphics would turn out to be rough too, but I was wrong, great art style, lighting effects and environments.

  5. I’ve got the game myself and I really had high expectations for this game. But sadly I’m not enjoying it as much as I would like to.

    Love NSMBU though.
