Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has talked about Wii U sales over the Christmas period with news publication, Reuters. Iwata says sales of Nintendo’s latest home console appear to be steady, but they don’t seem to be setting the world on fire like sales of its predecessor, the Wii. Iwata summed up that sales of the console are “not bad”. Here’s what he had to say to Reuters.

“At the end of the Christmas season, it wasn’t as though stores in the U.S. had no Wii U left in stock, as it was when Wii was first sold in that popular boom. But sales are not bad, and I feel it’s selling steadily.”

“It was the first time Nintendo released two models of the game console at the same time … and I believe there was a challenge with balancing this. Specifically, inventory levels for the premium, deluxe package was unbalanced as many people wanted that version and couldn’t find it.”

    1. Hahahahahah , are you serious ? Vita – 4M over a year globably , Wiiu 2.5M – 1 month.

Go back to bed idiot….. The wii after a year will be on about 7-12M….

  1. Has Wii sold more and better than Wii U? For me, it’s as obvious as water wets. Wii was way more innovative and appealling than Wii U. And, of course, at that point, we didn’t have the plethora of tech devices we have today. And, frankly, the controller-tablet and the abandonment of Wii remote + nunchuck as the standard controls will sadly kill Wii U over time. In time: I’ve been having all Nintendo consoles and handhelds, from NES to Wii U, from Game Boy to 3DS.

      1. Heavy Rain looks so boring. I think Beyond: Two Souls looks just as boring. Sick of these Hollywood looking games. I’d prefer to watch a real movie.

        1. I actually liked Heavy Rain, for the most part, i has a good story, and being in control of it does make it more engaging, but i could play a game that has just as good a story, any game can have that, doesn’t matter what genre.
Heavy Rain has some shit voice actin though, but Beyond should be better having Ellen Paige and all, but unless its actually got some engaging gameplay, i still might pass on it, Heavy Rain was way overpriced for what it was, and multiple playthrough just feel dragged out.

Walking Dead is kinda the only exception, because its cheap, and it handles it’s story in a more risky way, but again, no excuse that it couldnt have some survival horror gameplay.

  2. I’d say they’re selling very well, more than i personally thought they would.
I didn’t think they’d sell as much as the Wii, just due to how much press that got, and how big of a deal it was when it first game out, and with it being £50-£100 more expensive, its bound to sell less.
But it’s still doing well ^.^

  3. That’s a good way to put it. Critics n websites are making it sound like Its selling poorly. It’s not. ItS passable
