This weeks Japanese software and hardware charts are in from the Land of the Rising Sun and they once again show that the Nintendo 3DS remains the dominant platform. Wii U sales weren’t as good this week as the console only managed to sell 76,760 units, as opposed to 122,356 units the previous week. Animal Crossing and Fantasy Life were the two big sellers this week. Here’s the Japanese software and hardware charts.

It’s all good. NINTENDOMINATION is where it’s at. At least the Wii U is the top selling console while the Nintendo 3DS is the most dominating portable system. When the next season comes, let’s hope the Wii U sells more units in Japan and see more, and MORE games… including Pikmin 3 and The Wonderful 101.

Sales should pick up this year. Between January and March (especially end of Feb-March) some pretty big titles will be dropping for it in Japan.
There are also some Sony events planned, so we’ll see what happens.
I know, I kind of want one. There are some great games on it, and now that I have a ps3, I should get this too! I also love all the multimedia options and youtube and facebook apps. Also the strenghth of the tech. I just wish that fanboys would stop hating on it for no reason, considering its job is to simply give you a fun time. Its not your enemy lol.
The PSP sold more than the PS Vita? Again? Sony neeeds a new marketing team.
Well, the Vita sales seem to be up. Besides, developers are still supporting the PSP very strongly. Sony need to move those developers from the PSP to Vita, then they’ll be fine.
Yeah. Sony first party has moved to the Vita, it’s the third party devs, like Namco Bandai, who are still holding on to the PSP, mainly because it has a large install base.
2013, third-party development should pick up steam with more originals.
Sales should see a bit of an increase Q1 2013 considering certain franchises that will hit the device in Japan.
i dont think it’s the marketing, which is pretty terrible. but i think there are not enough support for the system.
Also most of the good games on the Vita are also on the PS3.
like me, they are waiting for the heavy hitters to come out before they get one. Like I said, in a years time people will recognize the beast that is wiiu.

Watch, when 1st party Nintendo titles hit like zelda 3d mario or Smash Bros. then the Wii U will be doing as good as the 3ds.
Yeah. No doubt. It’s already doing fine now. But it’s a brand new console. We can’t expect a ton of heavy hitters right out of the gate. It will definitely pick up steam over time.

These no stress, full freedom, full control games are gonna sell more and more; Fantasy Life & Animal Crossing may out-sell triple A titles! Glad the Wii U is doing well, and this cartridge thing they’re making to link the two consoles will likely boost U sales.

the sales for wii u aren’t that bad it got second place. is animal crossing any good never played one.
I completely adore the franchise, but I will admit, it’s not a game for everyone. It’s more of a laid back sim type of game. Some will go as far as calling it a “casual” title, but it isn’t really.
I think the franchise is great and I can’t wait for New Leaf, but it’s not for everyone. If you have a Wii or DS you should give it a try. Wild World has been out for DS and City folk for Wii. Those are the two most recent ones. They might be able to give you a glimpse at what to expect in New Leaf.
Nintendo needs to release some first party games to move their consoles off the shelves.
