Nintendo has beaten a number of firms to be awarded the accolade of best customer service for consumer electronics. Research firm Forrester looked at 150 companies and asked 7,500 U.S. consumers the following questions: How well did they meet your need? How easy were they to do business with? How enjoyable were they to do business with? Nintendo scored an impressive 83 for its customer support for the Wii and the Nintendo DS (and presumably the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS). The number two company in this consumer electronic category was Apple, with a ranking of 79, followed by Sony at 76.
They were extremely helpful when my Wii broke, they deserve it.

Nintendo definitly deserves this. Never any problem with them. Only customer service I have had better experiences from is Wizards of the Coast, but that is another industry so doesn’t really count on this list.

They fixed my Wii and 3DS for free, both breaking were my fault and the Wii was 4 years past its warranty!

Wish they did that for me. I got my Wii brand new in 2008 (I think) and they tried to charge me an arm and a leg for a simple problem in 2009. Main reason was because I got the Wii as a gift and didn’t have the receipt. *Oh, well*

I had my Wii since 2007 and I got a free replacement in 2010.
My Wii had an issue with the disc reader or laser were it would say unable to read disc with any game. I phone Nintendo found out I was nearly a full year past the warrenty but they dont worry about it. Send it in and we will fix it. So I did. Completly free of charge. I didnt even pay shipping. Nintendo has the nicest customer service. They respect their customers.

Either customer support for every other company was dire, or Nintendo’s has gotten a LOT better recently. I contacted them two years ago, it took me four emails to get a reply, and the one I got was just an automated response which was no help at all.

Actually I found Microsoft to be better. My Branch of Nintendo are infuriating. There system update stopped half my software from walking on my 3DS. I rang them up, they said they’ll look into, 8 months later, still no fix, apparently they just “forgot” about my case -_-

In their defence, Nintendo probably is a big, company with lots of customer services issues to deal with. But it’s still doesn’t make it acceptable to forget cases or ignore cases.

I just checked the Australian Club Nintendo rewards and it has a few things the European Club Nintendo used to have to and a few other (and better) stuff. And the rewards are much cheaper than the European ones. The Game & Watch Collection is 2500 stars for you Australians… Well, I had to spend 5000 stars on that, lol.

Those guys were really helpful when my Wii U wouldn’t connect to my router, they let me download some software on my computer so they could see my router’s settings and told me to put in some custom numbers he set up just so the Wii U will connect and it worked, he immediately deleted the software once we were done.
I had the same experience when I had the Wii U at the time. A live Nintendo rep was very helpful in connecting the internet access to the U. 35 minutes after getting it completely accessed, I could now chat via Miiverse, surf the web and download demos.

I had the same problem with my 3DS 3 days ago. It wouldn’t connect to my new router Motorola SBG6580. But it did for WiiU but had to done manuely. So I call Nintendo up and the sercive tech was very nice and polite. He walked me trough every possible senarios and still didn’t work and about to giv up on my router. Until he told me to reset the router to default and it worked. Took about 30-45 mins. but got it to work. And my WiiU worked too without it being done manuely. Just select the wifi network and enter password and bammmm, im online.
If anyone having this problem try this option.

Cool. Nintendo products hardly ever fail, and if they do their customer service is great, sounds good to me.
They gave me a new 3DS when mine got wet! Free!
They were like: Congratulations, you have damaged the Nintendium, here’s your price.
Where do you live?! The Nintendo for my country would never do that! In fact when I sent my Wii in because it stopped working from what I’m almost certain was a system defect, Nintendo sent me an email saying, “After a close inspection of the your Wii console we believe we have found evidence that the problems it’s been having experiencing come from improper use of the console.”! I phoned them to try and find out what the “evidence” they had found was, but the rep I got keep telling me he “cannot reveal that information.”! When it was all said and done I ended up paying Nintendo $100 to repair a console that broke due to their own poor workmanship.

That is possible. The warranty doesn’t cover mishandling a device and I know others who have been charged because of that type of damage.

How did Sony get three, they have the worst customer service. I know of multiple incidents where they reneged on warranties on DAT recorders. Pretty much everyone I know in the music industry no longer uses them. There are still a small amount of people using video rigs though. Its even worse than Panasonic which is like a revolving door.
Apple has pretty mediocre customer service, every time I have went into the Apple to get a computer fixed or get a faulty mag-safe plug replaced (there is a class action suite for that part), they try to figure if it something I broke. Then they fix it. I have even had to bring in prints from the Apple website to get recalled batteries replaced from them. So awful, you practically have to lawyer them to even get them to fix the simplest things under warranty.
I haven’t had really problem with Nintendo products so far, but the reps in the US for the Club Rewards fixed glitch on their website and gave me extra points for my trouble.
The worst Customer Service I’ve ever had was Samsung followed by Nintendo.
No Sony has everyone beat in my book. Most products I have owned CD players, tapes etc broke a month out of warranty (except the stuff from the early 80s or before those were gold). The few times I had talked to people at Sony for stuff under warranty, they either hung up or said we won’t honor our warranty. I have had friends with similar stories about products and customer service.
Samsung, hasn’t been too bad when I talked to them a few times about system updates and what not. They are sluggish about rolling them out updates. I haven’t had anything monumental break yet.
Its funny though, the sales reps at Sony are the opposite, they are awesome and participate in events.
Your difference might be which region/division you are speaking to.
Australia. They define what crap is in regards to customer service.
Can’t really argue with that, US and Australia are polar opposites I guess. I would send a letter to Nintendo and their FB page, maybe they will listen. Usually complaining gets you somewhere.
Most of my Sony items last really long. I even have a sound system passed on to me from my father from the early 90s that still works well. I never had a problem with any of my Sony gaming systems.
The only thing that I have had a problem with from Sony is my PlayStation 3D Display and they replaced it for free after I sent them an email with my problem and receipt info.
I do admit though, they have horrible phone support. I have called them a couple of times trying to get stuff sorted when it comes to registering products or getting help with a glitch on their website, or the PSN, that sort of stuff. Most of their phone reps were complete morons. lol I was even talking to one about a trophy syncing problem I was having with Mass Effect 2 and the guy had no idea what Mass Effect was. Then after an hour of not knowing what to do he went on to say, “oh, you’ll have to call the game maker for that.” (Call EA for a PSN problem, right)
Nintendo has been pretty good as well when it comes to system repair. I had that for free on my 3DS.
Again, the stuff from the earlier and mid 80s was rock solid. Both my dads walkman and CD player still work (I think), although the tray is sagging and it sometimes has trouble opening but hey its from 1986ish so can’t complain. Most of the problems I (and friends) were from the professional audio gear (DATs) in the late 90s when product and some with the video equipment. The tech support really sucked but their high end video camera’s and color monitors rarely break.
I did had brief experience when I worked a gamestore chain and they sold PS1. They came back all the time for one problem, the door censor on the top malfunctioned allot. Anyone that was out of warranty, I told them to put a book on it which always worked. I learned it from having a portable CD player from them, it would constantly error thinking the door was open.
You won’t here me complain about the PSN, I have only had minimal use with friends systems.

And as much as Apple products cost, you should have permanent warranty for any Apple product. The retina notebook costs $2400 in its basic configuration, I paid less than that for my car, which still functions well.
I wish they did. One thing I can say is treat that mag-safe Power adapter like glass, they make the part that wraps to the plug way too thin. I go through about one a year, with almost no travel.
Ok I can think of even worst customer service, I think I tried to block it out. Gateway computers in the late 90s. They could get nothing right.

I agree. after I did my Wii U system update and created my Nintendo Network account, my system enter into a loop and i didn’t want to risk bricking my system by unplugging it. I called their customers support and they fixed my problem in less than 10 min. they deserve this recognition.
Good job, Nintendo! Anytime I’ve had a problem, they were quick to resolve.
They were a great help when I called about my Wii U being a defect. I got a shipping label from them a day later and sent it out. Got it back in 6 days. Super easy and all free.

Nintendo Customer Service is so helpful to me, even when my 3DS broke.
After hearing stories of bad customer service from Microsoft and Sony, I always kinda expected it to be higher up on a list like this.
Apple, being iffy at times, has good service too. When my iPad broke during a system update, they were really kind and got me a replacement.
They helped me when I was supposed to be emailed Donkey Kong Original Edition. They were easy and helpful.
The best thing they could do to serve their customers us to recall all wiius and send them ps3s.whst else can they do to serve their customers with the Pike if crap wiiu
