You Keep The NES And SNES Titles You Purchase From Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campaign

nes_bedIt seems as though people are confused about whether they will keep the discounted Virtual Console games they purchase from the Nintendo eShop for Wii U. In Nintendo’s Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campain, each month now through July, one NES or Super NES title will be available for 30 cents on the Nintendo eShop for Wii U. Whoever purchases that title can keep the game – the discounted price is not a rental price; it is an anniversary price, according to Nintendo. For example, if you purchase Balloon Fight, the first NES game to hit the Nintendo eShop on Wii U and costs 30 cents until February 21st, for the new console, it is your game to keep – even when its price is increased to $5, which is its regular price.

After specified promotional period, each game will be made available in the Nintendo eShop at regular price. Wii U owners who have purchased the game(s) during the promotional period will not need to purchase the game(s) again at the regular price. Games purchased during this promotional period are eligible for 2 points in the Deluxe Digital Program. Point value subject to change.

  1. Are Nintendo’s five year old fans really this retarded and unmanly that they cannot comprehend text? If Sony or Microsoft made a deal like this, there would be no confusion. HAHAHAHAHA
    ~THE REAL Bill~

        1. Sony does. There are tons of PS1 games that I loved from my childhood.

Microsoft… eh, no. They’re too new to have “classics”.

          1. Nintendo has the most classics because they’ve been in the gaming industry for a long time, and they have been the first to do a lot of things, some good and some bad.

    1. As if your fail trolling is going to make a difference. What you gonna do, throw Xbox 360 controllers at me?
      HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
      ~THE REAL SLENDERMAN~

    2. How is it that being confused is unmanly?, thats like me saying going to bed at night is unmanly, I missed the intelligent trolls now we’re left with the stupid ones :P

    3. Okay Aeolus, we understand your bitterness. It’s their money if they wanna buy, why you have to cry for? Hope you feel better Billy.

Dudeeeeeeee is it really that hard for you to believe that there ARE some female gamers?? Games arent manly because there’s no way to measure how many a game is! You can measure it by how compelling, challenging, and fun it is… But manly??? Do you want your console to lift weights and grow a beard while you’re at it?????

Oh, wait I forgot…. You just want a reaction :D

    5. For Sony or microsoft, there would be no confusion. Everyone would know they would only keep it for a month. Because Sony and Microsoft wouldnt be as generous with this kind of offer.

      1. We get F-Zero and Punch Out, they get Fire Emblem and Mother 2. We get two snes games, they get three snes games. I think they did it on purpose just to laugh at us.

    1. Time to move to Japan. In all seriousness I really would have liked to see Mother 2 (or Earthbound as it’s called here) to have been on the Virtual Console here. Japan also got one of the Fire Emblem games as well.

    2. Amaya-Chan (amayaichihara.com)

Sooo freaking lucky…. At this point I’m tired of waiting for it to get on vc here, so I’m just gonna buy the snes cartridge on eBay and break out my SNES XD

  2. Well it does seem pretty extreme. If I werent a Nintendo fan, I would’ve thought that there were strings attached too.

  3. thats the kind of bed spread that keeps a girl keen imagine how wet that international lovers bed spread would get a girl WOW

  4. Why would anyone purchase poorly emulated games when they can for free play waaaay better emulated games and have the entire library of games to choose from.

    1. I’ve been waiting to play Super Metroid for a while and now is my perfect chance. I would have preferred if I got it on my 3DS though so I would have all 4 2D Metroid games on one system. Oh well, 30 cents is hard to pass up :)

  5. I’ve noticed a real pattern between this, the 3DS ambassador program, and Nintendo Land. First, Yoshi’s Island and Yoshi are released in the ambassador program and we get Yoshi’s Fruit Cart in Nintendo Land. A new Yoshi game is announced for Wii U after that. Coincidence? I don’t think so. Wario Land 4, Wario Ware, and Octopuc Dance all seem to have no connection. Then we have Game & Wario, a new game also coming to Wii U. Pikmin Adventure, Luigi’s Ghost Mansion, and Animal Crossing Sweet Day were all included in Nintendo Land probably because they were all tied to new games (Pikmin 3, Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon, and Animal Crossing New Leaf). A GBA Fire Emblem game was also in the ambassador program and now we’re getting both Fire Emblem Awakening and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. This can’t just all be a coincidence. If it’s not, we should be expecting announcements soon for Metroid, Donkey Kong, Kirby, and F-Zero. Metroid and Metroid Fusion in the ambassador program, Metroid Blast in Nintendo Land, and now Super Metroid. All seems to point to a new Metroid game imo. Then we have Donkey Kong Jr, Mario vs Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong’s Crash Course, and the original Donkey Kong. Wasn’t there a rumor that Retro is also making Donkey Kong on the 3DS in addition to their Wii U game? Only time will tell. Kirby and the Amazing Mirror and Kirby’s Adventure. It wouldn’t be that hard to believe a new Kirby game could be coming to the Wii U or 3DS. Now, I know Miyamoto said he was surprised to hear that people wanted a new F-Zero, but then why were we given Maximum Velocity in the ambassador program, Captain Falcon’s Twister Race in Nintendo Land, and now the original F-Zero in the trial campaign? This could all be one HUGE coincidence, but I highly doubt it. So, what do you guys think? Could these games be revealed at E3?

          1. It’s pretty good, I was just in a rush. The internet overall is incredible. Works just like a regular computer with GamePad support.

            1. Amaya-Chan (amayaichihara.com)

That’s good to hear! :D I’m not particularly fond of the 3DS browser but I had a feeling the Wii U is much better :p can’t wait til I get my own Wii U!

          2. Its mostly better cause the stylus is more accurate, no hitting to letters at once and getting the wrong letter. The keys are even big enough to use fingers once in a while.

            1. Amaya-Chan (amayaichihara.com)

Sounds great! :D one thing the Wii browser did not do well was typing XD your arm falls asleep holding up the remote to type :p it’ll be good to have a user friendly way to use the internet on my tv :)

              1. Oh yeah, I almost never used it cause of that. I did like the Wii Youtube App, not the Wii U one which is kind of a mess, good thing the Wii U’s browser makes up for it. Only site so far that kind didn’t work was Accuweather, it kept sending me to the mobile site. Still better than my Smart TV, (regular) Wii Browser, Android Smart phone and better than most tablets (minus Flash :( ) I have used except the Surface which almost works like a computer browser minus Java (ie no Pogo).

As one artist to another keep up with your art :).

            1. It sucks when you lay the gamepad on your lap, it presses the zl and zr buttons making the page go back and stuff.

              1. Amaya-Chan (amayaichihara.com)

Lol I could imagine XD it sounds better than what I’m dealing with now on my smartphone that changes N64 to NYPD and just randomly glitches out and deletes my text :p

            2. Amaya-Chan (amayaichihara.com)

That’s good! I assumed the keyboard is much better since its larger. My smartphones would be okay if it diddint autocorrect every console name and randomly erase my text. :p

              1. I only visit this website from the gamepad. It types well and is also big enough to type like a real keyboard if you desire. Fingerprints are another matter however haha

    1. All the original characters of Nintendo will get their own game for Wii U, since this is an HD console. Theyre gonna make it all in beautiful HD. It wouldnt make sense if they dont.

    2. I think Miyamoto’s comments do matter; he stated last year he wanted Star Fox on Wii U more than any other Nintendo franchise, but was surprised to hear about F-Zero recently; which is why I highly doubt a new F-Zero anytime soon. Also, Metroid Blast from Nintendo Land was originally intended to be a Star Fox attraction, but Nintendo figured an Arwing for that type of gameplay wouldn’t make any sense (I don’t think the attractions hint at new games). My money is on a new Metroid or Star Fox from Retro Studios. I also think Mother should be given some type of consideration from Nintendo soon.

        1. Perhaps; I can’t say… However, Star Fox wasn’t in the trial campaign because they hadn’t emulated the Super FX chip for SNES for the virtual console yet, so there’s almost no way to hint at a future Star Fox game, if there was one in development, with rereleases of old games, which is why a new game from Nintendo is plausible (the absence of Star Fox doesn’t mean anything), especially with Miyamoto’s comments from last Summer.

    3. Well thats what i always imagined Nintendoland was about, showing off the ways the gamepad can change gameplay, but also introducing new players to Nintendo’s franchises, and ultimately, combining the 2 demographics, core game, and casual.

    4. Amaya-Chan (amayaichihara.com)

I’d love a new FZero! They should include the NYPD your own course feature from the 64DD!!! That feature would work well with the gamepad since using a stylus will make the customization more creative and user friendly! Same with a smash bros stage builder for ssb4!

      1. Amaya-Chan (amayaichihara.com)

NYPD??? Wtf autocorrect!!! I meant build your own course from the fzero expansion for the 64dd .-.

  6. I have to admit, I’m pretty shocked this confused some folks, if the concepts ‘sale price’ and ‘special’ are new concepts to them =)
