Award-winning ZombiU writers Gabrielle Shrager (story design director, Ubisoft Montpellier) and Antony Johnston (New York Times best-selling graphic novelist and games writer) retrace the steps that led from ‘just another zombie shooter’ to a game rich with mythology, backstory, and narrative. They will explain how narrative ideas and concepts influenced gameplay, visual design, and even marketing in ways that helped ZombiU become one of the most anticipated launch titles for the Wii U. As a double act, fluent in one-and-a-half languages, Gabrielle and Antony guarantee to entertain.

  1. I would say that they really did something right with this game, although the not-so-great graphics, the game offers a different approach to the repetitive FPS we are all used to. Its emphasis on survival really makes this a different game. It seems that a lot of people in the media simply couldn´t understand what this game is about and felt dissapointed for not getting another generic FPS, what is shame for videogame journalism in general. This misconcept prevented many people to pay attention to the story of the game, and this game does have an interesting story that mixes mythology, history, politics and religion. Maybe this game is somewhat too advanced for today´s gamers.

      1. TBH i didnt like the looks of the game, i didnt like how sometimes it looks like your character is wearing glasses and you get wet smudges at an angle that gives that blur effect and especially the broken melee combat..

      2. I for one like the look of the game. It really suits the survival horror. It’s obvious Ubisoft made this game in like 1 year . There is barel any jaggies at all it has impressive anti aliasing. And some of the lighting in the game is incredible and moody. There’s one bit in the sewers where there is all these beems of light shining through the grids above and it looks awesome. It’s a rushed game , but an excellent rushed game.

The game is an excellent showcase of how the gamepad can deepen gameplay experiences.

        1. yes definitely a very good rush game, just cant stand how every zombies you come across take 5 hits regardless where you hit it to kill it and I couldnt bring myself to play the game because of it, hopefully theyll fix this if theres a sequel..

  2. Borrowed this game from a friend not too long ago. It is amazing! At first, I didn’t got into it, but when I sat down for a while, I really liked it! Now that I don’t have it here anymore, I miss it somewhat.

  3. Will they ever release a patch to fix all the game breaking glitches in this game. I am starting to really loose confidence in Ubisoft and their really poor customer support…

  4. But from what ive heard the story wasnt even good….
I don’t get why people are hype about this game. Its got grear ideas but it just looks like theres things that are missing or wrong that just totally hinder the game, like a good story, good melee combat, aiming down the guns sights.

    1. The game is excellent. It gets an 8/10 from me.

It feels like a breathe of fresh air to play , like nothing you’ve ever experienced due to the asymmetric gameplay. It blows your mind having to adjust to looking down at the gamepad to manage inventory.
The multiplayer is excellent aswell. RTS vs FPS .
The game does feel like they rushed it out for launch date and could of done so much more with it. They could of made the graphics 10 times as good , especially when you look at games like AC3 running on wiiu , goes to prove that not much effort has gone into ZombiU graphically, The graphics do the job though and are OK. And they could of added some more melee weapons and ironed out some wierd bugs.

    2. You should really play it before you make these judgements. I for one had no problems with the game. The melee combat is a bit clunky though, depth perception isn’t quite what you’d expect, it takes getting used to.

    1. He doesnt write the articles, that is Sickr and Alba. But you can email them. I don’t live in Ontario but I should check my Walmart soon.

        1. Sorry I have not been very clear. EB Games Toronto.

Also… Let’s rant to NINTENDO SO THEY CAN PUNISH THE GAMESTOP CORPERATION! EB GAMES AND GAMESTOP WORK TOGETHER AND IT IS COMPLETELY UNFAIR FOR THE GAME NOT BEING RELEASED AT THE SAME TIME! UNLESS NINTENDO IS A BUNCH OF HACKS AND CAN’T KEEP TO THEIR STRICK REGULATIONS.

  5. To me ZombiU feels more like a tech demo minigame than a real survival horror.
It just shows that it is completely unfinished. Mayb it would have been better if it would have remained “killer freaks from outer space”

    1. And what exactly is a “real” survival horror to you? Because if you try to tell me Resident Evil 5/6 or a recent Silent Hill or L4D, you’re wrong, those games are ACTION horror.
