Nintendo has revealed that Pokemon Black & White 2 have sold over 7.5 million units worldwide in an earnings report for their third quarter, which ended on December 31st. Pokemon Black & White 2 was originally released in Japan, June 2012, and then it arrived in the United States and Europe in October 2012. Here’s the total worldwide sales for Pokemon Black & White 2 and other key Nintendo titles.
- NDS | Pokémon Black/White 2 – 7.63 million
- 3DS | New Super Mario Bros. 2 – 5.96 million
- 3DS | Animal Crossing: New Leaf – 2.73 million (Japan-only)
- Wii U | New Super Mario Bros. U – 2.01 million
- Wii U | Nintendo Land – 2.33 million (packed in with Wii U console)
That’s about as much as Pokemon Platinum sold

There was a survey last year where people from sixteen to thirty played Nintendo games. Eight to fifteen played COD on the Xbox and or PlayStation.

Black Ops 2 is on 4 platforms.
Pokemon is on one.
Considering there is a total of around 170m DSs and 3DSs out there and around the same amond Wii Us, PS3s and 360s so is that not a legit defence. Ofcourse we have to take PC gamers into account, but many of those own a home console aswell and there are some gamers owning several home consoles which makes up for the PC gamer part of it. The install base is around the same for both games.
Of course it’s a legitimate defense. There is a much broader audience with the Wii U, PS3, 360, and PC. Those are home consoles, anyway. The 3/DS is a handheld device. It’s an apples-to-oranges comparison.
Besides, these games were a sequel to bridge the time gap between Black/White and X/Y. It’s not like it’s selling poorly for being, arguably, a niche title. First person shooters appeal to the masses, whether they be kids (see: Xbox 360), or adults.

7.5M copies of a DS game on a 8 year old system is bad ? WTF :? it’s incredible.
It was never supposed to sell as much as other DS pokemon games as it is a Rehashed Sequel. Not exactly an essential purchase. It’s a great game , but pasable for many as they’re all waiting for 3DS pokemon. WHich has just been announced in the form of X and Y.
X and Y will smash 15-20 million on 3DS lifetime. There’s so many people who have been waiting for a 3D pokemon game , and it’s coming!
And Black and white 2 is still selling a bit today , it will probably hit 10M lifetime.
I do agree, it is an amazing game. I just think the sales are kinda bad not only for that game but for most Nintendo games recently :/
mmmmm , What sales are bad ? 7.5M is a LARGE AMOUNT for a game to sell on an 8 year old platform. And it’s not been out long. Nintendo games are selling excellently go do some research (no offence) .

this will be nothing compared to how much pkm x & y will achieve in sales.
Think again. 3ds is a relatively new system. Many kids will have to buy a new system to get it.
But then the 3DS sales go up as well which will be awsome!
It most certainly will, but it will still affect the X Y sales badly.
Think again , the DS is an old tired system , many people are no longer active DS users. This fresh 3D pokemon game on a new system will go nuts.

I can’t believe that you can’t believe your saying this as if to play down pokemon. It’s one of the best RPG’s going. All of them , every single one is excellent. Doesn’t matter to me if they were ”re-hashed”. I’ve bought every pokemon game ever. one from each generation and remake.
i can only play the old ones, the pokemon are the ones i know, and loved, i dont know how i could play newer ones since dont watch pokemon or know them or really care about it anymore
You should try them. All the new pokemon are brilliant. The first 150 pokemon will always be my favorite but the other 600 are pretty awesome too.
I was stuck in the same mindset ”these new pokemon look stupid” after playing the new games they just feel like regular awesome pokemon.
funny thing is my brother will by the new pokemon game and bought some of the newer ones, i never played them tho and he is obsessed with xbox, and will play pokemon over me and is older hahahah, maybe since i think x&y will have all generation pokemon, i will play that when he buys it

I loved pokemon when I was kid. The Pokemon I’ve only played was the N64 Colosseumand loved it. Now I’m not into the whole sprite based style, but now seeing that there are 3D battes, and much much more paked into X&Y, I’m excited.

The sales are very good if you consider the piratery with the r4 cards and much have played those games with emulator too so if all this didn’t exist the sales where much higher . I have a feeling that x and y will smash some records too

This proves the DS is a profitable system. That is a lot of games for a short period of time, also, Pokemon is a great and popular franchise.
That’s a lot like people said it’s an “system than came out 8 years ago”. That’s a lot especially for it being out for only 3 months.
