Miyamoto Says He’s Changing His Gaming Style With Wii U

wii_u_console_whiteLegendary video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto today said he’s changing his gaming style with Wii U. According to Miyamoto, developers so far haven’t put enough distinctiveness into their Wii U games. We know that Miyamoto is working on an unannounced Wii U project, and according to Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime, it will be ‘fantastic.’

  1. :D oh Miyamoto
Pretty much confirms its a new IP. Pikmin 3 is pretty much done, he’s not working on Mario, or Zelda.

Glad to see already he has something unique planned.

        1. No way to say really. Who could have predicted any of his original IPs? A pair of plumbers jumping on goombas and warping through pipes to save a princess? A team of mercenary anthropomorphic animal ace pilots saving a solar system from a giant ape head? A bug-sized spaceman leading a troupe of plant-people to help him put his ship back together? Whatever it is, it will be different, and it will be amazing!

      1. That would be interesting.
God knows the FPS genre needs to be put to shame and killed off already, Miyamoto would do that, make every FPS after that look crap, then everyone can go back to making multiple fucking genres again.

        1. He said he wanted to do a First Person game, not necessarily FPS. Though, I think whichever way he does it it’s gonna be awesome.

      2. Yes. I think Nintendo lacks mature IP’s. This will change it. People who want Metroid to be a FPS will be happy and people who want it to be a first person action-platformer will be happy. It’s a win-win situation!

    1. It’s going to be a Wii U game with NO online. You have to play in the closet or under the bed to make sure wifi doesnt connect.

  2. inb4 “Hey, look at my new puzzle game!” after having stared at a bowl of cat food for an hour or so at his home.
But seriously, Miyamoto gets inspiration from crazy places. He got some of his inspiration for the vast land of Hyrule from walks in the woods out behind a house of his at some point, IIRC.XD
The guy’s brain is a factory for wild ideas. I’ll be deeply surprised if he doesn’t bring forth something that makes a few of us raise a brow at how odd yet awesome it is.
Here’s praying that it’s a new adventure series.
I love my Zelda, but seeing a new IP from Miyamoto in that genre would be fantastic.

  3. Miyamoto makes his games of inspiration he gets from real life. Last year he said he was really getting into swimming so water could play a part in his game. He also said he wants to make a fps but one that’s more about exploring and less violent then traditional fps games. Maybe an underwater FPS? Lol that would be unique.

    1. The gamecube era was practically based on water. ex. Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, Double Dash, Those two Pokemon Games and heck most of the land battles in assault and adventures were filled with water it stays on the ground to, i feel sick from going airborne with skyward sword, super mario galaxy, ex. it would be awesome if myamonto was to show everyone how you make a real fps

  4. Im hesitant. I mean, dont get me wrong, i love nintendo. but i will be disapointed if this is the shooter thing that miyamoto wanted to do. It’d be cool to see a new series tho! And if its a New I.P, then well, mabey we’ll see them in smash bros.

  6. I think it would be cool if he did a fantasy RPG that would put Skyrim to shame even. Or a shooting RPG that would put Fallout to shame. Oh the possibilities…….

    1. Call of Duty : Mario Edition
      I would buy that…XD
Play in such an amazing roster, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Toadette, koopa troopa and others shooting eachother to take on the evil bowser.

    1. You STILL tag your posts with that moronic phrase?

It really scares me how you probably think it makes you clever, or “deep”… or even “proud”.

Especially considering the “luck” that Wii U has (or hasn’t, as the case currently is) since it’s launch.

Maybe Nintendo ought to start relying on quality ideas instead of crossing their fingers everytime they shit out another pointless “hey, here’s anothe full priced game that we made to how you a handful more tablet features that don’t need to be in there, much less require a new ‘game’ to display!”

      1. I really don’t see the issue with him using that tag. Why is it such a big deal? It’s not affecting you in any way at all.

  7. Amaya-Chan (amayaichihara.com)

Omg I’m soooo excited about thoa new IP!!!! I hope its another adventure game! Hopefully E3 will show something on it!!!

  8. Well, if a man working for the company that another man works for says it’s going to be brilliant, well then… no better proof required, right?

Adolf Hitler’s generals though he was brilliant too. Guess we all just missed the plot didn’t we?

    1. Adolf Hitler was a brilliant, smart man! A genius, too! The sad part is that he used his abilities to do the wrong things.
