New Need For Speed: Most Wanted Wii U Info, Plus Demo Coming To eShop

Alex Ward, the Creative Director of Criterion Games, has revealed some new information about the forthcoming Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Ward says the Wii U version of the game is based upon the favourable PC version, rather than the console versions of the game. Need for Speed: Most Wanted will also include Miiverse support via Autolog. Ward also said that a playable demo of the game will appear on the Wii U eShop and that the full game will launch sometime in March.

  • Based on PC version of game
  • Took a break after 360 etc. version was done- came back with a small Wii U team- more RAM in the Wii U -> PC textures and assets – lighting and draw distances better
  • Criterion read Iwata Asks of shared experiences and philosophy of Wii U
  • Miiverse support with Autolog
  • Wii U demo up Eshop
  • God Mode Wii U GamePad (drifting, getting stuck, make it easier in police chases/change from day to-night at tap game pad)
  • Off TV Play
  • Mii support in-game (mii appearing on billboards)
  • (Wii mote/nunchuck/wheel support/pro controller already confirmed months ago)
  • Started after break in September 2012 from other versions, due to finish in few weeks with minor fixes
  • Due end of March

Thanks, Nintedward

  1. This is what we all expect. Graphically enhanced games WITH a shit ton of awesome features aswell. Like Alex said , ”it would be a crime to do a vanilla port” . I suppose we can forgive some devs for doing this . But all it takes is for devs to try just a little bit and the third party games will come out fine !

I have been looking forward to this game for a while. I waited for it to be announced for Wiiu when it originally launched and it did!

The gamepad features and miiverse integration sound genuinely very interesting aswell.

    1. The most impresive thing is the night and day lighting instand change and whit out lagg, damn thats realy impresive.

    1. Try Hot Pursuit on the PS3/360/PC, it’s very good and possibly the best NFS this gen. If you do get it, get a new copy or you’ll have to pay for an online pass.

My first NFS was Hot Pursuit on the Gamecube and it was fun, since then I became a fan of the series. I’ve played Underground 1 and 2 and loved them, then came the original Most Wanted and it became my fave in the series. I’ve tried the others like Pro Steet and thought it was good but the current Hot Pursuit and the original Most Wanted are my most faves in the series.

      1. Oh ho you pathetic current gen console owners don’t know the true power of the next gen console. Go suck off your Xbox 360 or PS3 or whatever you call your pathetic accuse for a console. Let us PC and Wii U gamers enjoy are mighter systems

      1. 360 just sucks even more, the Gamepad was made for speed freaks. The Xbox controller was made for pussy footers who don’t like to go over the speed limit

    1. Making a petition so that expensive, not-really-worth-it DLC can come to the Wii U, we’re going a little overboard with the petitions aren’t we?

  3. Hmmm…EA has won a few points from me temporary…
But if this version is as good as it claims to be…hopefully other EA games holds the same standard and thus…maybe they are of some use…in few ways…

  4. I like how all of the people that aren’t developing for the system are giving it crap but the ones who do develop for it praise the system. Example?

    Here.

  5. “• PC version of game”

I swear, when i found this out, i could smell the damage control cogs turning from here in the haters

    1. Indeed. And me waiting for the Wiiu version has payed off. I was expecting the 360 version with Off screen play and some cool feautures. The PC style graphics is a massive bonus as is the miiverse integration.

      1. It could mean the Wii U could be getting more PC ports rather than PS4 or Xbox Next ports and that is really good thing =3

      2. Yeah. I mean, it’s kinda sour for me, because i thought this game was meh, but for anyone else who’ll like it, its good for them

  6. So this proves that the Wii U is going to get ports from… the PC in the future?…. Wow, thank fucking god! :3 We get to ride with the big boys now!

  7. SherlockWillFightBilbo

Dang I didn’t see this coming. I might have to pick this up. Another $60 right here xD

This will be my first NFS game. Any recommendations/advice for the series?

    1. Try Hot Pursuit on on the PS3/360/PC if you have any of those, easily the best NFS this gen. Plus it’s pretty cheap now, but try getting it new cause of the online pass.
