The Witness will first be released on Sony’s next console, the PlayStation 4, which is scheduled to launch this holiday season. The game’s developer, Johnathan Blow, the creator of Braid, told Joystiq that he and his team want The Witness to be playable on as many platforms as possible, and he suggested that the upcoming 3D puzzle video game may eventually come to Microsoft’s next console and Nintendo’s new Wii U console.
“Basically, you’ll see The Witness on PS4 before you’ll see it on the next Microsoft console or on the Wii U, presuming we eventually do ports to those consoles. Ideally we want the game to be in as many places as we can get it, but since we are a small developer and it’s a complicated game, we can only do so much at once.”

I really hope so. I feel like third parties will push their games revolving around ps4 and the next xbox graphics and just leave the wii u with a watered down version instead. I hope I’m really wrong. I want all home console ports to look the same or just a little bit better than something drastic when comparing the home console versions.
I said it and i’ll say it again, the wiiU can push out graphic quality such as GTA 5, Last Of Us and Watch Dogs then I’m satisfy with the water down ports, I aint no graphic whore so graphic are least of my concerns..

Well it is unified memory, 4Gb could start to possibly looked cramped with some of that RAM reserved for the OS in addition to 1080p textures, code, sound etc. Admittedly code is the smallest of the lot by far. More RAM will help enormously with loading times between levels, level map sizes etc. etc. Also if you consider the generation now expiring has lasted 7 years or so, then in 2020 8Gb will likely seem small all over again, just like 512Mb does now.
the thing is, graphic wise, all we’ve seen of the ps4 are tech demos. and we all know that the actual games NEVER end up looking as good as the demos. so i think it’s afe to say that it wont be too far off in terms of visuals

finally someone who noticed. It was a huge disappointment that all they showed were tech demos and no innovation on the controllers part. What I like about Nintendo’s reveals is that they DEMONSTRATE and SHOW you what their controllers can do day 1.
Actually, they never mentioned if it is the exact same version, it could be downscaled for all we know. So you don’t know that yet.

chill. the ps4 hardly has a library at all (actually no games are done). give it a year and we’ll see TONS of multi plats. This gen will be worse than ps360 was concerning exclusives. Most exclusives will be developed by Nintendo themselves.

This isn’t a very graphicaly intensive game
But you have to remember, it doesn’t really show much of the graphics power of the PS4 and the game will need to be toned down quite a bit to run on the Wii U’s hardware.
So really Wii U can’t run games like Deep Down but it can run a lower end version of the Unreal Engine 4.
Either way I’m getting the PS4 and this will be one of the titles I’ll be getting

The Witness was one of my favourite games at the press event, Braid was awesome, but this game looks better, i like how the game has no conflict, no threat or fighting, you just explore and immerse yourself in the game, and do as you wish, i wish more game we’re like that. Plus its got like 20 hours worth of content.
I love his statement about the size, and being open world saying “it’s open world and big, but rather make it just big for no reason, have it open yet compact, so every with every 20 feet theres something to do, and you’re never backtracking or walking through nothing”.
The guy is a fucking genius.

That’s always been my issue with open world games, just decorative rectangles with some stuff to do here and there.
Just Cause 2 had stuff to do but it wad like little spots of content in a stupidly big world, Infamous scaled the size down, and made traversal more fun, but still alot of moving around.
I don’t see why devs dont just make a game thats full of stuff to do, Arkham City is the closest ive seen to an open game that had something to do in svery corner, and everywhere had it’s significance, Arkham City felt more alive and more believable that any other open world game, it’s my main worry for Watch Dogs, that yeah people are going to be living their lives and you can do stuff but that its going to too big for it’s own good.
This is another game I want to get besides Knack and Infamous: Second Sun. The art style reminded me of Wind Waker HD when I first saw it. Hope it does well.

The CLOSEST we can get at this point to comparing the Wii U to ps4 is by comparing the Wii U Bird TECH Demo and Zelda TECH Demo to all the damn Tech Demos they showed at the ps4 launch event. UNTIL sony shows off actual gameplay we can not be %100 sure how the actual VISUALS stack up.

I love how PS4 games might no longer be exclusive days after the Event of the PS4 (Still wanted see this bloody console -_-). I think the Wii U graphics we are seeing might not be Wii U’s potential. I think Nintendo is hiding something. I bet you could over clock the Wii U because it does not heat up for crap anyway because it is supposed to be the CPU that is pushing graphics away so over clock that to a safe amount and maybe future games will look even sexier.
They never said the third-party games were all exclusive. They obviously aren’t going to announce them for other systems at the SONY event though, or for systems that aren’t even announced yet.
I hope The Witness does come to Wii U as The Witness and Watch Dogs are the only games on PS4 that I’m interested in and luckily Watch Dogs is already coming to Wii U so that just leaves The Witness left.

If the WiiU can handle Watch Dogs with those graphics, and maybe better than 360 and ps3 version; then im satisfied with the graphics; i don’t need more graphics to enjoy a fantastic game, after that level of realism, i only need gameplay, only gameplay will save the “beautiful” games. And i’m not even thinking of what WiiU could achieve in 2 years from now in terms of graphics, so.. it’s only a matter of time.
