NeoGaf member Qurupeke has spotted a listing for the Wii Mini console on the official Nintendo UK website. Nintendo previously said that they aren’t planning to release the console outside of Canada, but that looks set to change. The Wii Mini launched in Canada on December 7th, 2012. The console doesn’t feature Gamecube support and does not support S-Video or Component video cables. The console also lacks an SD card slot, and doesn’t have Wi-Fi support.
Update: Apparently it’s also been spotted on various European official Nintendo sites.

Actually that’s very much true. they did release this trying to make the Wii look way worse that way the Wii u looks amazing. Too bad that even 1GB ddr5 is more powerful than the 2gb ddr3 of the wii u. that means the ps4 has a 16 times more powerful ram.
I mean nintendo is great and i will buy a wii u but if you notice the ps4 is basically a powerful computer (almost high end) at less than 500$, i can uninstall Playstation OS and install windows. that’s GREAT.

That was a genius move by the sony director, they noticed they can’t win at exclusives against Nintendo, they can’t win in online against Xbox (they can’t release a completely paid online because they will never have the online that xbox has). And they decided to release a console at a low price compared to high end PCs that will probably last 3 years with all games at Max and another 3 years at everything at high. (PC GAMES!)

It seems like people don’t understamd whatvis the real problem with the Wii U hardware. It is NOT the horsepower itself but it has to do eith the CPU, GPU & RAM.
The Wii U’s PowerPC CPU differs alot from tue PS4/PC/720(?) x86 CPU’s and has different capabilities and weaknesses (high IPC, low SIMD performance)
The Wii U’s GPU has a lot of custom made things inside of it that make it different from the standard PC tech the PS4, the PC and (most likely) the 720 use.
The Wii U’s RAM is not a problem because of its speed but because of tue amount the Wii U has. Textures and In-Game worlds will get bigger as time goes on and the Wii U has just a fraction of the PCS4 RAM.
It’s not the problem with the level of “goodness” Wii U can display graphics, it’s the question how much load (higher res, higher draw distance etc) can a dev put onit while keeping the framerate and graphics quality at the same level.

i’m still sticking to my theory that these wiis are made from chips that didn’t qualify for use in the wii U (such as a damaged core/shaders or whatever) and since they’re fully backwards compatible it would be possible to just screw them on a custom PCB and sell them as a wii… so as long as there are failed chips my guess is the supply of these terrible design failures won’t cease.. canada prolly isn’t big enough a market to sell all of them
