Japanese Nintendo Direct Covering Nintendo 3DS eShop Games Goes Live

Nintendo has released a new Japanese Nintendo Direct, which can be watched above or on the official YouTube channel for Nintendo Co., Ltd. The online presentation covers upcoming Nintendo eShop games for Nintendo 3DS. For instance, the presentation confirms that the sequel to Dillon’s Rolling Western and Freakyforms Deluxe launch April 10th in Japan, and both titles will be the first download-only games to have download cards sold in stores.

Although this Nintendo Direct just aired today, another one will go live later this week. On Wednesday, April 3rd, the company will release a Nintendo Direct covering the forthcoming life simulation game Tomodachi Collection for Nintendo 3DS.

  1. Ugh, come oooooon, PAX just finished, GDC i think is still going, PS4 got announced a while back, the new Xbox wont be far off, games NOT coming to WiiU have been confirmed or revealed, fucking DO something, Nintendo!

Don’t just sit there like “check out these eShop time wasters! And enjoy LEGO City!”

    Pull it out already….

    1. Yeah, 3DS sales are already strong in Japan. No sure why the last few ND have been 3DS Japan centered. Oh well. I hope that means that there will be a lot of Wii U NDs coming soon.

    2. TWAT BY THE TIME THOSE FLOP TWIN SYSTEM RELEASE WIIU EXCLUSIVES ABD PRICE CUT WILL TAKE EFFECT

HELLO VITA FOR XBOX AND PS4 ANYONE CAN SEE THAT

      BF4 SAVES PS4 I THINK NOT

    1. *Enough with the pointless 3DS Nintendo Directs.

If they’re actually going to show new games or show us footage for upcoming titles that’s fine. But doing a Nintendo Direct just for some eShop shovelware games and some useless AR Cards? What the hell?

      1. This is just a Chotto Nintendo Direct, as in, the less significant one and they usually about these kinds of things in it. That way, they’re saving more time for other stuff on full Nintendo Directs. Also, I kinda disagree with you, I don’t it’s shovelware by any means, and I do like the ARE card thingy, but to each their own :)

        1. Two sequels to games that didn’t need originals and pointless AR cards are not even worth a twelve minute Nintendo Direct. Maybe just a Tweet or something like that.

            1. In Nintendo’s defense, they didn’t even make a big deal out of this one. They kinda just released it and moved on.

          1. Once again, this is not a Nintendo Direct, this a Chotto Nintendo Direct, meaning, Mini Nintendo Direct, and it’s even streamed, it’s just a YouTube video. So, don’t worry, there will be a full one soon enough.

    1. Maybe you didn’t understood the purpose, Nintendo is encouraging Japanese 3DS users to buy digital games, so they made this little Nintendo Direct showing footage of their new eShop titles, the AR cards come included for free if you buy a prepaid card for the eShop, that’s a pretty smart move from Ninendo if you ask me.

      1. I do realize they come free with the Japanese pre-paid cards. I still don’t see the point of actually using them.

    2. Dude… those aren’t AR cards. Those are game-exclusive download cards. They’re basically selling Dillon’s Rolling Western: The Last Ranger and Freakyforms Deluxe in some sort of physical format, so you don’t have to waste more money on (let’s put it in american currency) a $20 card just for a game that costs $14.99. Now get it?

      1. *facepalm*

The AR cards I was talking about were shown at the end. Also, I don’t see why people wouldn’t just buy an eShop or or use a credit card to get those two games you mentioned. Seriously, who is actually going to make a trip to the store to pick up Dillion’s Rolling Western: The Last Social Reject and Freakyforms Pointless?

        1. A large part of Nintendo’s target audience are children. Children don’t usually buy their own games, their parents do. This lets parents pick the games up at the mall, then gift wrap them for the kids’ birthday. A lot of people still go to Gamestop to pick up games instead of buying them online. This means Nintendo can go full digital download without abandoning the retail partners they rely on to sell their hardware.

Also if they work like other prepaid cards they’re basically worth nothing until they’re activated so they cost retailers next to nothing to stock and publishers next to nothing to manufacture. So there’s basically no risk and it’s a win-win for everyone.

The AR cards are just a fun little toy to goof around with- like all AR toys. And they’re free after all.

    3. I can see why people, mainly kids would want them, i had Pokemon cards as a kid, i would’ve flipped if i could use AR and stuff.

But it ain’t worth a Nintendo Direct.

          1. if you go out of the way just to talk shit on a website and actually dont like them one bit than your probably a loser with nothing better to do. just because you trash talk them, doesnt mean that you dont like something about them and yes i do know about this website it sucks in so many way of all the spam and stuff and the horrible fanboys just want me to have nintendo die, so they wont be so pathetic anymore and move on

            1. “if you go out of the way just to talk shit on a website and actually dont like them one bit than your probably a loser with nothing better to do” Believe it or not, that’s why I’m saying that. This website is filled with that kind of losers.

    1. What the fuck did you just fucking say about Nintendo, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in some school in Chicago, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret attacks on Sony’s HQ, and I have over 300 confirmed 3DS games. I am trained in Melee warfare and I’m the top Mario Kart racer in the entire US Armed Forces. You are nothing to me but just another Sony fanboy. I will race you the fuck out with speed the likes of which has never been seen before in this Nintendoland, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with making fun of Nintendo over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak, I am contacting my secret network of Goombas and your IP address is being traced right now, so you better prepare for the storm, Sonyfag. The storm that wipes the pathetic little thing you call your lives. You’re fucking dead kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over 700 ways, and that’s just on Super Smash Bros Brawl. Not only am I extensively trained in Melee combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the Nintendoland Supreme Forces and I will use it to its fullest extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of this World, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn Sonyfag. I will Mario Kart all over you and you will be asphyxiated. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

    1. I know! they’re really trying to show Dillon and Freakyforms in some sort of physical format so everyone in japan knows the franchises! :D Who knows… maybe we’ll get Dillon for Smash!

  2. This has actually gotten quite sad. Yes I realize the 3DS is their cash cow right now and that’s all fine and dandy because its a great handheld. However there seems to be TOO MUCH focus on the 3DS. It seems like everywhere I turn its 3DS this,3DS that coming from Nintendo.

It’s like Nintendo themselves doesnt really care about the Wii U or even take it seriously. Obviously that’s not really true but its the perception I get from their own actions.

They seriously need to start focusing more on Wii U or it will get into an even more worse state than it is in right now. Your 3DS is doing great, now focus on the Wii U and help it do the same

    1. Well… who knows. With the large catalogue of games that Nintendo has on 3ds, the console can survive without any new “killer app” for this and the next year. They already have Pokemon, Monster Hunter, Zelda, Starfox, a bunch of amazing games on the e-shop (Like Dillon, Mutant Mudds and Pushmo/Crashmo) and a shitload of Mario games. They have everything now. I think this is the perfect moment for them to focus exclusively on the Wii U. If they don’t do it, well… they’ll pretty much fuck up everything.

      1. It’s the main reason why people, mainly fans are annoyed by Nintendo at the moment. So much focus in the all ready successful 3DS and not enough for the floundering Wii U. It makes it seem like Nintendo doesn’t even know what to do with their own system, hence investors and retailers are not knowing what to do either. Plus the lack of advertisement of the Wii U itself is alarming.

Nintendo is doing very few things right with the Wii U atm and its sad because its a great system and deserves a lot more than its currently getting

  3. Everyone is crying because this Nintendo Direct isn’t about Wii U, and I’m just here, completely hyped because of the newest —Dillon game—-. Guys, Dillon is a badass, and knowing that everyone here is acting like this makes me sad. Fans keep complaining because Nintendo doesn’t make new IP’s and when they create something new (like this franchise, which is incredibly awesome), nobody gives a shit because they’re there just waiting for a release date for a new Mario game or a new Zelda.

Yes, I know that you want Wii U games, I want them too. I’m waiting for Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends’ Challenge Mode and Game & Wario. I know your pain, but Iwata already confirmed that there will be a new Nintendo Direct focused on Wii U this month after the Wii U Update, so there’s no reason to freaking complain about a Japanese presentation.

Give Dillon’s Rolling Western a try, guys, it’s a great game. If you don’t have a 3ds, then just be patient, announcements will come soon.

        1. haha thanks man, this is funny. when i first saw that game i said… this game fucking looks like shit!!! now i have more proof why i thought that

        2. The original became bad quickly. In the later levels you had no idea what you were doing and where the enemies will come from so you just put some towers down and hope for the best.

          1. It’s called strategy, exploration and approach of time, like Majora’s Mask. You just don’t know how to play it.

    1. Dude the Wii U just released out 3 major titles. Lego City, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Need for Speed. We have Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Game & Wario, Wii Fit U and more in the next 3-4 months.

  4. Nintendo not saying anything about the lack of 3rd party support can mean two things:
1: They know they are fucked.or
2: They have some massive U-bombs in store for E3/Nintendo Direct

    1. Since Nintendo sold 100 million Wiis with less 3rd party support than they have now I’ll go with option number 2.

What people fail to realize is that the Wii U actually has massive 3rd party support. The support is mainly from companies overseas and indie developers. Where Nintendo lacks strong 3rd party support are from US developers mostly because of the ‘Code Red’ placed on them by EA.

In the end, those companies will struggle to make game for the PS4 and 720 because of a immense financial burden it will cause and will wind up having to crawl back to Nintendo anyway. The best thing Nintendo can do in that regard is what they are doing. Remain humble, and quiet.

    1. Necessary? nah. Fun to use? YEH. Also, they come with points included, it’s simply a nice touch for your regular points card!

  5. Man i keep reading News for Nintendo Failing, man i know for a fact they wont fail, almost every console gen Nintendo lays out bad games or i think is bad but then again i havent played them so i truly dont know how good they are, well anyways at a consoles launch Nintendo puts out games “may not be good” to hold until Nintendo can bring out the “Big Guns” which isnt usually until the next year, middle of 2013 beginning of 2014 and after that u can watch the Wii U Spread its Wings and fly, but my point is this happens with Nintendo almost every generation Minus the Gamecube cus it had SSBM and Pikmin which was awesome!

So my Prediction for Wii U is This:
    1. June 11 (E3) Nintendo will Bomb its fans and crowd with Awseome games like Mario Kart U, SSB4, Super Mario Wii U, and maybe even something we dont know about.

    2. November will see the Release of Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD. and Wii U will skyrocket in sales!

3.2014 Will be the Beast Year of Wii U and the Release of Super Smash Bros 4 ;)

    4. 2015 will see a lot of special Games for wat those games are maybe a New Legend of Zelda, but the Wii U will provail it will take some time they will come out with some games and will be like the 3DS.

    1. Nintendo really needs to have a Nintendo Direct as soon as possible with release dates for Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Game and Wario, and Wii Fit U. I agree, once Wind Waker, Mario Kart, and 3D Mario come out (hopefully end of 2013), the sales will skyrocket a lot. And then we have SSB4, Miyamoto’s New IP, Yoshi game, SMTxFire Emblem, Bayoneta 2, New Zelda game, Retro’s game, and X-one of my most anticipated titles. I also hope that Metroid, Starfox, and F-Zero ALL make an appearance on the Wii U. Then they have other franchises to make on the Wii U, such as Paper Mario and Fire Emblem. This might not happen, but I hope that towards the end of the Wii U’s life, they bring old franchises back to life such as Ice Climbers and Mach Rider. The point is that Nintendo is working on games, but people are mad at them that there has been a drought.

      1. I think the time has past for release dates on those games like Wonderful 101, Wii Fit U, Pikmin 3, and Game and Wario. It is getting a little ridiculous. I can understand why they wouldn’t announce releases dates for Bayonetta 2 or any of the new games announced at the Jan 23rd ND, but the games previously mentioned have been in development long enough. You need to lock in a date and get it out there.

Nintendo has taken the patience of fans WAY beyond for granted. Those games better be spectacular.

    1. Go play Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, it’s amazing. I hear Lego City and Need for Speed are also amazing… there are games, stop being so narrow minded on 4 series.

  6. Anybody know what the direct was talking about at the end at about 11:28? Might not be anything major but just curious, thanks

  7. Delayed again...? (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ merde

Where the hell is pikmin 3? (this game is still the only reason I rushed to buy a wiiu) I really don’t need enhaced ground texture graphics and hyper realistic dust particles to be able to enjoy a game. Pikmin 3 is basically that last remnant of my childhood I want to experience before I get to old to be playing games. You know what? This picture sums up how I feel about this. http://thenintendard.com/post/42693788092/marcosclopezblog-submitted-the-woes-of-pikmin-3
