Batman: Arkham Origins Confirmed For Wii U

Game Informer has announced that Warner Bros. Games Montreal is developing Batman: Arkham Origins. The team has taken over from series producer Rocksteady and are using a modified version of the Unreal engine to capture the look and feel of the series. The game is set to take place before both of the previous Arkham titles and features a younger Bruce Wayne who encounters many of the series protagonists for the first time. Batman: Arkham Origins releases October 25, 2013 on Wii U, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Thanks, Sam and Simply G

      1. Not gunna lie , I creamed my pants with this news. Thanks simply G!

This is a contender for best Nintendo news of 2013 so far. Except for all the stuff that was unveiled at that big N direct.

          1. Actually :/ . I better not be too hasty. I’m just starting to read all this stuff about ”No Rocksteady” . Awwww. Hopefully it will turn out awesome though :)

            1. I won’t worry yet. They’re getting all of the tools Rocksteady had.

I’ll wait until I see first gameplay footage of the game, which I expect we’ll see by E3.

It’s not uncommon for franchises to switch developer hands and still turn out good.

              1. donkey kong counrty returns and halo 4 are prime examples of this. and i really do think this one will turn out pretty well, considering it’s an open world bat man game set in gotham city.

              2. I’m sure there is some sort of mutual possibly even official agreement that they’re not aloud to fuck this up. I think the Worst we can expect is like an 8/10 game as opposed to the 9.5/10 status of Arkhum city. Using a 10 point review scale to put that into perspective of course…

  1. Great news until I saw that it wasn’t being developed by Rocksteady. I already knew that but I still have hope for the game.

      1. It has way more than the ps3 and xbox did in there first year but i understand no 1 is has old has me.

        1. Yeah cause I remember Burnout Revenge was the only good launch game. Wait nevermind they did have some Burger King games, King Kong and Kameo those were some heavy hitters

      2. The saying it has no games is invalid. That means you can’t go to a store like EB games and be like I want a Wii U game but the employees say sorry there isn’t a game for that system yet. What people could say is the Wii U has no big profile games.

        1. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing, various indie titles, etc etc etc.
It’s got a nice list of big profile games for something as young as it is, it just hasn’t gotten its big first-party releases yet.

      3. “As of now, it hardly does :(”

Yeah. The Wii U doesn’t have ANY games

        o_O…………

  2. Two big third party releases named one day after the other, excellent :) I’m interested in this and watchdogs. I have not played any of the other two batman games though. I might get them on xbox since they will be cheaper! and wii U doesn’t even have the first.

  4. This reminds me of poor aklaim. Great company until the great of the ceo killied the company. They survived the snes they became huge whit the n64 and the die whit the ps2.

  5. I’m getting very sick of game releasing as multiplats on the WiiU alongside last-gen consoles. Most likely it’ll be a crappy upgrade.

    1. It’s like this at the dawn of every generation in gaming. PS4 and 720 will also mostly get cross-gen games until the popularity of the PS3 and 360 die off.

      1. Yup. Like Watch_Dogs and Assassin’s Creed IV are not only going to be on Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, but also PS4 and most likely the next Xbox.

Third party games don’t usually come out for next gen systems exclusively when the system is still within its launch year. Although it happens, it’s a rarity.

You almost always see overlapping generation releases.

      1. A lot of people in the gaming media have been suffering from sudden cases of amnesia lately…it’s almost intoxicating.

        1. It is a very virulent virus. Epidemic status indeed. Cordyceps ain’t got nothing on this. Apparently, the trigger word is “Nintendo.”

    2. There haven’t been many multiplat games period announced for the PS4 and 720 because most developers need a sure return on their investment. They will opt to make 360 and PS3 multiplats first because those systems have a install-base of 70+ million. They may be making other games for those systems. The Wii U is HERE so it will get multiplat announcement before the PS4 and 720 do. A lot of these game will wind up coming to the PS4 and 720 anyway.

  6. I never picked up the first 2 games in the series, but now that it’s finally moving to 3DS as well..I may need to pick this one up. Always cool to see a new version of his origin, and seeing Deathstroke should be cool

        1. Arkhum city is one of the best games I’ve played. I would have to try and squeeze it into my top 20/30 games ever. I played it on 360 and Wiiu. And the Wiiu version is better. The gamepad features are a ton of fun and work seamlessly and off screen play just gives it that Wiiu touch.

If you can get it cheap , BUY IT. Remember how my Trine 2 recommendation turned out for ya ? :P . Trine 2 Directors cut….. what a magical game !

  7. loved the first 2. Excited for this one. i’m crossing my fingers and i will pick up both versions! glad it’s getting a portable version.

  8. Good to hear, but a new developer and the played out notion of another prequel will make me wait for a review before I buy, especially around that time of year when there’s games for every system.

  9. Looks like Wii U IS getting AAA 3rd party titles, baby! All the Wii U haters better shut up now! This is the first of many that will be confirmed! Oua Oua! 💋

  11. I don’t trust it at all rocksteady invented the series and I don’t think another company can build a arkham game like they can

  12. More third party support is always good to hear. This is a developer I can support. Someone who recognizes all hardware! Looking forward.

  13. Ok, even though there’s no Rocksteady (STILL can’t help but think of the rhino from the 80’s Turtle cartoons), WB Montreal did wonderfully with the port, and even without Paul Dini, it still has potential. I’m super excited for this! All we need is a cameo by Hal Jordan, and my geek levels will be in overdrive!
