  1. It’s always exciting to see a Nintendo Direct is on the way. But why isn’t it about the Wii U? And more specifically a Pikmin 3 release date.

    1. 3ds focused?! are you kidding me?! the titanic is sinking and the first thing that comes to their brilliant minds is “let’s save the ship that is next to the titanic which is not sinking, we will get to the titanic later” (later when, when everyone aboard is dead and no one cares anymore?!)

      1. As much as I hate to admit it cause I love the Wii U, you’re right.
But I still think everyone aboard will be rescued when E3 rolls around. Or maybe I’m just overly optimistic.

    2. They are saving up all of their announcements for Wii U until E3, as it’s a new system, they want the strongest aftereffect. We will see in two months. I see no point in releasing a Wii U direct before E3 when it’s so soon, ESPECIALLY when they need to compete with the new consoles using software. Let’s just all patiently wait, now.

    1. Nintendo really needs to give us some big game release dates. Pikmin 3 , Wonderfull 101 , Game and Wario . That’s the least I expect. I want them before the end of june.

    1. Exactly! The software line up for the 3DS is strong all ready. Time to concentrate on the WiiU software Nintendo.

  2. We have a never ending list of 3DS games still to be released. Where the hell is the Wii U Direct and update? Even Nintendo seem to be dropping support for the console.

      1. Pitfall near your door

I think they want it to be a hug surprise for E3, probably everyone agrees that we want a release date for Pikmin 3 because of the wait but only time will tell.

  3. *sigh* Yeh we know , Pokemon X and Y , Project X zone , Animal crossing , etc etc etc are all coming. Why don’t u address the Console that needs addressing ?

    1. I’d like to see some character (non-pokémon) art for X/Y soon. That last “Big” announcement was a “Big” disappointment for me.

  4. Any confirmation on who’s hosting the North American 3DS Direct? In the last Direct, Iwata have done a tremendous job hosting it… along with Bill Trinen (Miyamoto’s translator) and The Regginator.

  5. Erm….for all you guys moaning about Nintendo needing to do a Wii U Nintendo Direct instead of a 3DS one…you do realize Nintendo is probably going to focus almost exclusively on the Wii U at E3? You want them to give away everything now and turn up on the show floor empty handed? Relax. We just got Lego City and MH on the Wii U. I’m pretty sure we’ll get a teaser Wii U Nintendo Direct before E3 anyway.

    1. All very well, but that’s just even more confirmation that they have nothing ready until at least September.
Where are the firmware updates. Where are the dates for Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3?
      It infuriates me. Lol.

    2. No. What I want are few little peices of news here and there, and they can save the big stuff for E3.

For instance, stuff they could tell us now:

      – Pikmin 3 Release date
      – Exact dates for the 2 upcoming system updates
      – Exact feature lists for the 2 upcoming system updates
      – News about 1 or 2 little first party eShop titles
      – The launch lineup for the virtual console (minus gamecube (more on that in a minute))
      – Some more Wind Waker HD screenshots and/or a gameplay video

Stuff they can save until E3:

      – Mario Kart Wii U gameplay footage + and playable on showfloor
      – New 3D Mario gameplay footage + Playable on showfloor
      – Announcement of gamecube games for VC – launch titles include Eternal Darkness and Mario Sunshine
      – Bayonetta 2 gameplay footage + playable on the showfloor
      – Announcement of 1 or 2 new IPs.
      – Smash Bros screenshots or gameplay footage (playable on showfloor if extremely lucky)
      – Announcement of Miiverse and Nintendo Network for 3DS (launching that day)
      – Windwaker HD playable on showfloor and release date.

      1. Fair enough in that case, I’m just kinda pissed at people wanting big news here and now with E3 so close. As I said, I’m pretty sure they will have at least one Wii U Direct before E3, and hopefully it will target at least a few of the points that you mentioned (Pikmin 3 in particular really needs a release date).
The only problem I see is that people might be disappointed with the next Wii U Direct since the last one set an almost unreachable bar after all those announcements

    3. Pitfall near your door

I wouldn’t mind a Wii U direct too but i do want them to show most to all of the content for the Wii U at E3, some games like Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 should be in the direct either showing a release date or even a time frame but i can wait for E3 if they want to hold the big guns till then.

    4. also didn’t people were bitching over “we needed a 3ds direct” over over over over, and when Nintendo decides to do that people bitch left and right.

    5. That’s not until June! Its seems counterproductive to not even hint at anything that people already know is on the way, in the form of concrete release information, and instead focus on a console that isn’t failing! It’s just disappointing and disheartening.:(

  7. 3DS is getting a TON of love lately. I don’t see how much more they could possibly improve its library unless the up and announced a new Zelda being made exclusively for it.

And if the do that, I’m going to go into fanboy meltdown mode for a while as I oogle every scrap of info they divulge.
I’ll likely disappear into the cavernous forums of the internet to debate with other fanatics as well.

    ……..
I want to get my hopes up.
    I want to.
    But I know it’s a baaaaad idea…….

      1. Actually they already said they were working on a 3DS Zelda right after OoT3D came out, maybe that’s what this ND is about. Still doesn’t justify the total lack of Wii U support and information from Nintendo!

  8. Well in their wii U direct they made some minor 3ds announcements too if you remember! They also did shit like “the download is available now at the end of the video” I think for the first virtual console title. So I’m hoping they announce the wii U update/virtual console for that day since they are supposed to be out this month! Need pikmin 3 and wonderful 101 release dates too.

  9. Really hoping they announce the Digimon 3DS game for the USA. With the anime airing later this year it seems silly not to bring it over. Heck the new Digimon game might even do X and Y. As for the wii U people moaning relax. Chances are E3 will give you more news on it then Charlie Sheen gets hookers on a Sunday night

  10. If any of these are announced for America/Europe in this DIrect, it’ll have been successful imo:

    -Fantasy Life
    -Bravely Default: Flying Fairy
    -Dragon Quest VII
    -Professor Layton 6
    -Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney
    -Digimon 3DS

Even just 1 of those would make me happy. :) I do feel we’ll get them all eventually, but the wait is killer. x.x

    1. No offense, but the 3DS was always meant for Japanese games first and foremost. You buy Nintendo handhelds (and consoles) for those primarily, not western games.

  11. LISTEN UP NINTENDO!!! Damn the 3DS for right now, it’s fine, there is no competition for it but what you guys really need is more Wii U focused Directs especially with the other next-gen consoles just around the corner. Don’t get me wrong I’ll still love you Nintendo but sometimes you guys make bonehead decisions

    1. They will be fine come e3 because ps4 and the next microsoft console wont have killer games announced. The wii u will though

  12. Next one should be a wii u direct and better happen real soon to discuss game and wario, pikmin 3. Wonderful 101, and anything else that’s coming out before summer.

  13. I wouldn’t worry about the Wii U right now. E3 is right around the corner and all the news about it could show up there. Not to mention, they can still have a Nintendo Direct for the Wii U between now and E3. Be patient. It’s not worth stressing out over a video game. Do something productive with your time while you wait instead of complaining.

  14. Whatever it is going to show I’m going to be excited. It’s been awhile since we had a Nintendo Direct. Hopefully they announce some brand new 3DS titles, perhaps some big name third party titles coming to 3DS. I also hope they have a Wii U Nintendo Direct soon.

    1. They’ll probably do something similar to last year. The main show was all Wii U, and then they had a second, smaller show the next day for the 3DS

  15. My 3DS is constantly on my charger, due to Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, Luigi’s Mansion, Pokemon later this year, some classic Gameboy games, etc. We REALLY do not need this to be focused on the 3DS. Just like Nintendo, I’m starting to give my last shit about the Wii U. I know E3 is underway, but still. I only use my Wii U for Wii games at the moment.

  16. I love my 3DS, but DAMNIT!!! Give us a fucking Wii U Nintendo Direct!!! Where the Hell is the 3rd party Nintendo Direct that they promised in January or February?!?! Anyone?!? How come even Nintendo are Straying from the Wii U?!? I feel as though I have been abandoned as far as the Wii U and it’s creators are concerned!! They need to announce some DAMN release dates for 1st and 3rd party titles that are gonna kick ass for the Wii U and stop focusing on the damn 3DS!!! The 3DS isn’t in trouble right now and we don’t need more fucking news about animal crossing New Leaf!!!!!!! It really feels like even Nintendo are giving up on the console! “we learned from the 3DS release debacle!” No you didn’t you stupid fucking douchebags, otherwise this would be a Wii U focused Nintendo Direct… Since it should be one, if for nothing else than to possibly drum up some console sales for this thing! Maybe they are like an out of work magician and this is just misdirection, but it sure feels like the Wii U creators are starting to “jump ship”! I love my Wii U, but this focus on the 3DS is killing me!!

  17. Nintendo, Nintendo, Nintendo…. It’s good your having another ND. But why is it about the 3DS…. Again. We need release dates for Wii U games, right now that should be your priority. The 3DS is fine, no need to push it more than you already are. You have E3, announce those games then. Right now, we need U info, as much as we need, we also need some damn games to play on it because it’s been a dust collector for more than 3 months with the exception of MHTri & Lego.

  19. There’s nothing else to say except that Nintendo is retarded. THE 3DS IS FINE!!!!!!!!!! GIVE PEOPLE A FUCKING REASON TO GET A Wii U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Just sent this to NOA:

Nintendo Direct for the 3DS?!?!? Really Nintendo?!?!?!? How about some information pertaining to the Wii U?! I know that Nintendo hold their cards close to the chest leading up to E3, but this is darn near ridiculous!!! If you want the console to sell make announcements about it and upcoming titles for it, enough with the radio silence already!!! I, as a Wii U owner, feel abandoned by Nintendo! It feels as though Nintendo has all, but totally given up on the Wii U! I think that the 3DS seems to be in a pretty good place across the board, why don’t the marketing idiots at NOA get with the program so they can move some Wii U console Units with announcements?!?! If E3 is just a bunch of release dates for games that we already know about, I don’t see the Wii U being a viable contender in the home console marketplace after E3 of this year! I follow the gaming industry with a microscope and am constantly educating myself on what is going on in the industry and Nintendo is being very bad about advertising the Wii U’s capabilities and the games available on it, Hell I haven’t even seen any advertisements for the console since the Launch week in 2012!!!! That’s terrible marketing… Period! The lack of support from the company that created the console is weighing very heavily on the consumers that bought the console and are now forced to endure months of no information from Nintendo pertaining to games! Also, Where is the 3RD party Nintendo Direct for the Wii U that was promised earlier this year???????? Seems strange that it’s so blatantly absent from the Nintendo Direct lineup, maybe it’s because 3rd party devs are turning from the console because even the manufacturers of the thing… aren’t showing it support!!! Lower the price, announce games, get 3rd party debs involved, do something, I don’t want this console to go the way of the Virtual Boy and right now it’s stagnating!!!!

    Pissed,

    Just thought I’d share ;)

    1. No offense, but…
      1. Nintendo get a ton of emails like that…if you think they’re gonna go through that wall of text you’re sorely mistaken
      2. Filling said email with rage just made it even less worthwhile, as did silly comparisons with the Virtual Boy (seriously?)
      3. PATIENCE!

      1. None taken but… Here’s the response I just got:

        Hello UnitDTH,

Thanks for writing. It’s great to hear you’re a fan of Wii U, and I was sorry to hear of your feelings. I’ll be sure to document your comments and will forward them to the relevant departments here at Nintendo for further review. We appreciate hearing what is important to our fans.

I first wanted to affirm that we intend to fully support Wii U through out it’s lifecycle as a system. We greatly appreciate the investment our fans make in our hardware, and are committed to bringing them the best gameplay experiences possible in return.

In regard to a 3rd party-focused Wii U Nintendo Direct presentation, I need clarify for you that Nintendo has not announced anything along those lines. Nintendo’s own websites will be the most current official source for current and upcoming Nintendo Direct announcements. If a 3rd party-focused Wii U Nintendo Direct presentation is ever announced, you will be able to find the announcement on our “What’s New” webpage (http://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew).
I know it would be great to offer you some specific details about the future of Wii U, but for now all I can say is that eventually we will pull back the curtain and share all the new and exciting information via our official websites. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with us.

        Sincerely,

        Owen Allen

  21. I saw the words Nintendo Direct.
I was like “Yes, we finally have a Wii U direct with release dates for all of those delayed games!”
    It’s another 3DS one. ‘_’

  23. hope its 3rd party(bd:ff, dq 7, digimon etc. but i doubt it, there saving it for e3) maybe its going to focus in animal crossing a new leaf.

  24. http://thenintendard.com/post/42693788092/marcosclopezblog-submitted-the-woes-of-pikmin-3
still no official release date… I remember why I rushed to get a wiiu. They promised pikmin 3 would be a lauch title. Once I bought the console, they then said it would be in the launch window and now i’m wondering why they mentioned pikimin 3 in the first place. They should have kept quiet about pikmin 3 until this E3. what’s the point of talking about it if it’s nowhere near completion?(if it was close, it would of had at least release date by now). I don’t expect them to say a single thing about any wiiu release date during the 3ds direct. And it’s true what people say about the wiiu; mine is collecting dust. After nsmbu and pikmin adventure their isn’t any games that catch my eye because most of ithem is on the 3ds instead of the wiiu…I’m never waiting this long for a game again.

  25. fucking shit nintendo. we post all over the internet and miiverse for a fucking wii u direct, and you pull THIS SHIT. IM FUCKING SICK OF 3DS NEWS! THE 3DS IS FINE! YOU PROBABLY ARENT MAKING THE 3RD PARTY DIRECT BECAUSE 3RD PARTYS ARE JUMPING SHIP BECAUSE THE CAPTAIN ISNT EVEN STEARING THE DAMN THING! please nintendo, we need pikmin 3 and wonderful 101 release dates, game detailes, system update release dates, and vc console release date or straight up release of it. maybe even some bayonetta 2 footage or small 3rd party game looks. this is NOT big enough to have to wait till FUCKING E3 which is 2 MONTHS AWAY for this. YOUR CONSOLE IS PULLING A MAGICARP RIGHT NOW! YOU ANNOUNCE A N DIRECT FOR A CONSOLE THAT WE JUST GOT BIG RELEASES FOR!? WHAT TEH FUCK! give us something to do! something to look foward to!? CHANGE THIS FUCKIN DIRECT INTO A WII U ONE OR FOLLOW IT UP WITH ONE GEEZE

    1. yea nintendo consoles have been shit since the wii and they pull this shit again, why do you think that most of the core left, they arnt going to put up with there shit

  26. Sad there is not any info for Wii U, I really wanted to hear more info about Super Luigi U, and maybe others..
