Nintendo Of America Issues Statement On E3 Plans

new_super_mario_bros_2_tanooki_mario

Nintendo of America has issued a statement to Game Trailers regarding the news yesterday that Nintendo won’t be holding an E3 presentation. Nintendo will be at E3 in full force, but they just won’t be hosting their annual presentation there. Instead, the company will focus on its Nintendo Direct presentations, and the various press events that it holds. Here’s what Nintendo of America’s Charlie Scibetta, Senior Director, Corporate Communications has to say about Nintendo’s plans for this year.

“As you’ve already seen, a lot of news about Nintendo games and services that traditionally would be held until E3 is being delivered this year through Nintendo Directs, and various press events. This approach will continue between now and E3. No matter where you are in the world, you’ll be fully informed. We look forward to continuing to provide you with Nintendo news and content in ways you haven’t before experienced. Beyond the news that will be communicated through Nintendo Direct videos in the run up to E3, at the show itself we’re hosting two smaller events on Tuesday morning before the LACC opens instead of just our traditional one event. A media event and a partner presentation will both occur that morning. While the audiences will be different between the two events, both will occur on the Tuesday morning of E3 (June 11) which is the date and time period the public has come to expect for Nintendo to deliver E3 news.

At the Nokia theater we’ll meet with business partners (retailers, publishers, analysts, etc.) from the NOA territory and discuss our plans for driving the business and providing tailored information that this group finds useful to their operations. Nintendo has done these same type of business meetings at past E3 shows, but has not in the past few years. This year we are returning to that business partner meeting format. New this year at our booth in the LACC, prior to the show opening, we’ll invite a small group of media to play our games. We will have a strong line-up of beloved franchise experiences available for immediate hands-on play. We are continuing to consider exciting new ways to bring the news of our games and information directly to the players at home during the E3 timeframe, and will have more to say about that at a later date.”

Thanks, Nintedward

  1. I have nothing against this. Nintendo Directs are way more focused and take up way less of my time. Plus, we get one practically every month…and there’s enough information for a whole E3 presentation every time.

      1. And what is even more important than that is the the people that NEED the see the Wii U in action……won’t.

        1. wait you mean like they arent showing wii u at action? are you stupid? nintendo e3 will be focused om HANDS ON EXPERIENCE, and you say nobody is going to watch wii u at action.. thats right they gonna touch the wii u at action! dumbass

    1. Admit it. Nintendo is doomed to die. They saw that the next Xbox and PS4 will blow them out of the water at E3 so they just gave up. Simple fact.

          1. I don’t know what your point is there. The PS4 and 720 will also be outsold by the current gen for a while.

            1. How do you know that? Have you seen the launch games or the price yet? No? Then you don’t know how they will sell.

              1. I know because it happens at the start of every generation. Not everyone immediately upgrades to the new console.

              2. Dude.. Everytime a new console is launched it is always outsold by its predecessor for a good while. Just how it goes.

              3. So far from what we have seen the PS4s best launch game is Destiny which is a multiplat…plus with its $599.99 price tag it will be a repeat of the PS3 launch. Xbox 720 without a Halo game at launch wont go anywhere. Nobody will upgrade from their 360. Xbox 720 will be $499.99.

                    1. @Nintendo Ashe: I could eat a bowl of alphabet soup and shit out a smarter statement than that.

                    2. @Nintendo Ashe: I could eat a bowl of alphabet soup and shit out a smarter statement than that

                    3. @Nintendo Ashe: I could eat a bowl of alphabet soup and shit out a smarter statement than that.

                1. People bitching about the wiiu most be so young that they where not around during the ps3 launch or others for that matter.

              1. Yeah… with no true Nintendo hits at launch, WIIU still outsold both ps3 AND 360 lol. Lame haters. Yall still crying over WII’s raping of last gen, and now WIIU looming over as a constant threat to game mediocrity…

                    1. Last time I checked, you just came onto this site and said “Looks like somebody’s butthurt…” without stating anything that has to do with Nintendo. Think before you talk. Do you even listen to the things that come out of your mouth?

                    2. I suspected as much: The smartest thing ever to come out of your mouth was a penis.

          2. The PS2 outsold the PS3 for months, the PS3 will outsell the PS4 for months same with the 360 and 720. If you hate Nintendo why are you on this site? Oh yeah that’s right you’re a troll and have no life. :)

            1. So why are you on this site? That’s right! You have no friends and you get picked on at school so you have to skulk around this site in your quest to search for a friend. Must be pretty lonely over there.

          3. That’s like saying the DS and 3DS doing poorly in their first years means they’re gonna cause Nintendo to fall.
            Oh wait-

          4. The Xbox 360 and PS3 will still be outselling the Xbox 720 and PS4 you fail to realize. No new system comes out and sells more in its 1st year then the previous system that was out for 6-7 years.

        1. More people are going to flock to the next generation systems instead of throwing their money away at the Wii U. Especially if they price them the same as the Wii U.

            1. That’s the thing. Sony is a big enough company to be able to take losses. Same goes to Microsoft. Nintendo can’t afford losses since video games is the only thing it does.

              1. I don’t think you’ve been following the news as of late:
Sony is definitely in trouble. Not just in gaming either.
Microsoft is a mystery to me… but they’re loaded.
Nintendo posted losses that amount to a drop in the bucket.
They’re loaded. And they have the fastest selling (handheld) console.

                  1. That just proves again, at you are retarded, you compar ios and apps to Nintendo, when apps aren’t even a game

                1. And that Nintendo’s building and even bigger headquarter, yeah Nintendo has no money to do anything

              2. Nintendo don’t like taking losses because they are multibillionare games company, without using apliances n pc chips as a crutch. Ask me, sony n ms are sorry asses. Lets see them go all out gaming, they’d die quicker than a fish out of water lol.

          1. You’re right. More people will go after next Gen consoles. Which the wii u is. Have you seen all the announced games for this year? And 1: if the next PlayStation doesn’t outsell the next Xbox than they will go out of business. Sony is already on the verge of bankruptcy. And even if they do outsell(which seems very unlikely given past and current consoles outselling them) Xbox they still might not be able to stay viable. Just look at the wii. Same Gen as 360 and ps3 and it didn’t struggle in the slightest. With the recent release of MHU3 wiiu sales have gone up almost 35%. With one game!!! Imagine when WW comes out as well as ZeldaU. I have nothing against Sony or Microsoft, but it just upsets me when people spit things out just to argue with only the information they read on these comment sections.

              1. Mega Yoshi is the worst troll. Lack of research. Seriously mega yoshi is making a fool out of himself. If you are going to troll, at least troll with some research.

              2. It sure is. Better gpu, better tech n spechs, and sll around great balanced architecture. Well isn’t ps4 ‘next gen’ for the same reason? Better gpu n such. Quit being a piggy bank poor ass hurt troll.

          2. I am no way interested in the PS4 or 720, I’m going to throw my money at the Wii U- I might get a PS3 soon, but only because I was infamous and Ni No Kuni >:)

              1. U don’t know what the hell ur talking about kid lol. You know why ALL consoles r going more n more PC architecture? Because of Diminishing returns for graphics douchbag. No one with a WIIU will be jealous of ps4 grfx, matter fact when yall just started enjoying great gfx, HELLO NEW NINTENDO LOL. Trolls.

          3. How do you know that? Have you seen the launch games or the price yet? No? Then you don’t know how they will sell.

      1. lol clown shoe dualshock 4 is going to blow away gamepad andcwii remote plus THATS A ENGINEERING-PHYSICS-PHYSICAL WORKD IMPOSABILITY,ONLY WIIU IS NEXT GEN…

dualshock 4 the exact same thing as a OUYA controller is going to blow away the worlds most advanced gaming system

always on pc’s with out dated controls no backward compat and lagging derp cameras are going to wipe away the wiiu

lol clown shoe i look forward to ps4 competing against a huge rush of wiiu exclusives to disrupt ps4s release

lol sony a near bankrupt meaningless entity are going to beat nintendo LOL CLOWN SHOE

      2. the opersite is fact YOU INEPT TURNIP

NINTENDO WILL WTCH TWO IDENTICAL INDUSTRY BOX’S WITH OUTDTED CONTROLLERS AND ALWAYS ON SPY CAMERAS GO AT EACH OTHER WITH BORING PAY FOR SERVICES STAGE SHOWS

WHILST NINTENDO SHOWS GAMES AND GAMEPAD GOODIE’S

        CLOWN SHOE U EXPOSED

NINTENDO IS DISRUPTING E3 AND YOU CANNOT SEE IT

      3. You don’t need to have a GED to know Sony and Microsoft’s next consoles will be technical powerhouses. It isn’t like they tried their hardest to be ahead of the curve and failed, they chose this path with the Wii U with full anticipation of their competitors.

    2. SICKR, dafuq happened to this site ? (layout) did you have a new owner ?? plus I can’t reply if i go to the mobile version …..

    1. I know… I want to see new stuff.
I hope the don’t show us everything in Nintendo directs.
I want to feel like it was worth it to watch Nintendo’s E3

        1. Then how come their sales are suffering and they keep making stupid decision after stupid decision. The Wii U and 3DS has barely any features

            1. We will see about that. But you do know that if one of the two game companies price their system at $300, Nintendo is going to get destroyed. Like how they were forced to drop the price when the Vita had the same price.

              1. Sales from Monster Hunter Ultimate ALONE, made the Wii U’s profits rise by 35%.
If just that one game can make it sell better, then even bigger titles will yield even bigger profits.
Sony isn’t going to price their system at $300 unless they strip the PS4 of most of its social features[lol@ letting others play your game for you when you’re stuck] and lower the graphical capabilities by a step or two to make it match the price.
Hell, they’ve already gone the route of removing PS3 support, which is a huge indicator that they’re struggling to bring its price down to avoid the same launch-day-mistake that they made with the PS3.

              2. wow your a dumb ass forced to drop 3ds price cause of vita, the price drop was like 7 months before vita was released, and 3ds is dominanting well vita still continues to fail

          1. Where are you getting these baseless comments of yours? Are you unhappy because your PS Vita is collecting dust in your closet? Get your facts right. Nowadays, it’s easy to scour the web for information. Stop reading your 10-year old magazines.

          2. 3DS sales ain’t suffering. Wii U sales down due to LACK of Popular exclusives. Besides Wii U increased like 35% after MHU arrived.

          1. That doesn’t mean the 3DS is doomed. More people buy a iPad than Kindle…..is the Kindle doomed? No. The 3DS is doing just fine. And it has Pokemon X & Y coming this year.

                1. Have you seen the mobile game market? More people are buying more Mobile Games and mobile devices than the 3DS by a wide margin.

                  1. And yet the 3DS survives and is gaining profit every day.
Right, that’s totally being squashed into non-existence.
Mobile gaming market only has more sales out because the games are, on the whole, cheaper and shorter.
The fact that the 3DS keeps sales high while still having more costly games proves that it’s nowhere CLOSE to being dominated.

                    Troll harder.

          2. Oh God this guy is like a little Girl complaining about how the reality doesn’t fit with her imaginary world, if you’re so “smart” and you know everything that will happen, why dond’t you tell me the lottery numbers of tomorrow?

        1. I understood the first time and it’s an empty hope. They’ll be invited.

It would be more understandable if you stated it as an opinion like, “I don’t think they should be invited.”

          1. The fact that he stated it as a hope implies that it is an opinion.

I guess you really didn’t understand it the first time and you’re trying to blame him just because you didn’t understand.

              1. Im good too. If it was from anyone else then i would be piss but you truly helps. Thanks again for the help whit the “genre” word.

                  1. I see you on sometime on this site. What you feel about Nintendo at the moment regarding to the changes in the company even with Wii U not meeting expectancy in term of sales?

                    1. I don’t know all of the details surrounding the personnel changes, so I can’t really comment on that. I think that Nintendo has made a few mistakes over the past few years, but nothing that they can’t recover from.

The Wii U at the moment might not be meeting expectations, and I do believe that maybe they launched it a bit too early but considering two other consoles will be launching this year it was probably the best choice for them.

Nintendo has been around for a long time and they’re still a strong leader in the industry. I’m sure the Wii U will start selling more once those first party exclusives start dropping – Zelda, more Mario games (Mario Kart U, Party, 3D), Super Smash Bros., etc.

Right now it’s still too early to proclaim doom on the system. It’s fun. It’s cool. It’s unique. It has a lot of potential. It might not be in the best position right now, but it will do better within time.

I think Nintendo has just found itself in a position it hasn’t been in before. The industry has changed and Nintendo is still trying to adapt. They’ll learn from their mistakes (hopefully) and move on from there.

Nintendo isn’t going anywhere for a long time and neither is the Wii U.

3DS – that’s in a whole league of its own. Sells like hotcakes and has great first and third party support.

Despite some financial losses and mistakes over recent years with marketing, product launches, and a few other things, I think Nintendo will rebound. A whole new generation is ahead of us. I’m looking forward to what Nintendo will bring.

                    2. @Simply G
Thank you for your thought! It was well worth penny to spend. :P On the serious note, I was confused and found it interesting what the Nintendo doing with all the changes happening. I agree this is not the first time the product did not sell well since Virtual Boy, e-reader, Gameboy Micro, and etc.

  2. shame… was looking forward to watching their stream. oh well, at least microsoft and sony are still having theirs!

and woot, new site appearance! I like! :)

    1. Way more people watch the presentations than a little Nintendo direct. Publicity is going to go down the toilet while the next generation consoles will stomp all over Nintendo

      1. You keep forgetting that media outlets watch the Directs, too, so they will obviously make some news articles of their own whenever a Direct talks about a huge game.
So, no, publicity won’t go down the toilet.

        1. You keep forgetting that E3 is broadcasted on TV to millions of channel surfers all around the world. Nintendo direct is not on TV.

          1. Right, and all the gamers on earth watch TV instead of check the internet for more expansive gaming news.
You’re also assuming that none of the gaming networks will be discussing what’s revealed by Nintendo at E3 via specials and round-tables of their own.

Point blank fact: Nintendo doesn’t need to get up on stage this E3 in order to make their presence felt. They’ll deliver all the stuff we want to know before and during E3 in their own way, the media will cover it with their own methods, and none of the publicity from their reveals will be lost.

            1. Even If I hate to say it. But MegaYoshi is right. How come Nintendo is missing the only opportunity to steal the PS4/Infinity’s show? All the media, press, gamers will be At E3 or watching E3 because Sony and Microsoft will be showcasing their NEW consoles. Only Nintendo fans will be watching NDs during E3. E3 is the best play to advertise your console/handheld to the media/people outside of the Gaming Industry. All the Websites, News, Newspapers, journalist, etc will be covering the E3.

I’m not saying that Nintendo is less important than Sony & Microsoft. I’m saying that with this stupid decision Nintendo will lose their opportunity to turn all the attention to them.

Nintendo Direct is a nice thing. But only Nintendo fans watch it. How is Nintendo going to win more customers if they don’t broaden up their reach?

              1. They’re going to be doing the directs during the run-up, and E3 will be their place to put out the last bits of info while showing off playable demos of key titles.
Nintendo is still going to be holding investor and media oriented programs at E3 to highlight stuff, just not up on stage like last year.
They won’t lose the opportunity; they’ll be spreading it out and doing it differently.

        2. I agree with you about the news articles will watch Nintendo Directs but what about the causal people? How they found out about the Wii in the first place? I noticed mostly of my friends watch all the E3 shows rather than just Microsoft, Sony, and even Nintendo show.

      2. Nintendo will show every thing in E3.
So for those who didn’t spoil themselves by watching Nintendo direct the will see lots of new stuff.

    2. Are you Japanese?
      Because of your name.
I can read and spell Japanese.
However understanding it is a problem. I can’t speak it at all.

      おにび
      o ni bi
      onibi

      What does that mean?

Or did you just equip that name?

      1. おにび, or “onibi” essentially translates to “will-o-(of the)wisp” or “jack-o’-lantern”. it’s really just a play off of the name I normally go by: オニ(鬼), meaning “demon” or “ogre”.

I understand some Japanese, but I am in no way super fluent. haha.

  3. Maybe they just have to much to announce for just one press conference? Last year their conference was so full of wiiu stiff they had to wait to talk about 3ds stuff in a smaller venue.

  4. Im fine with this. Now it would be so cool if they let us try out some e3 demos in the eshop and and watch what fans say in miiverse. Its way better than just a few people in the press giving there thoughts about a game they may not even care about.

      1. Oh so Nintendo (a company which makes profits) dies while a company like sony (which had to sale their headquaters to get into the black numbers) will overtake the world.

  5. because there’s really nothing to show for the Wii U, just the same remakes plus alot of those sidescroller eShop stuff.

            1. Can I just ask you, and please give me an honest answer, what has Nintendo Done against you? Or were you raped when you were born by a wiimote? Personally, I aint a nintendrone or anything., I’m just a gamer playing all consoles, don’t believe me? Watch me on YouTube, but I just can’t stand your behavior, you must’ve had a terrible childhood, no jokes…

    1. Can’t afford? At what point did they say that they don’t have the money to afford it?
Financial reasons don’t even factor in. If Sony can do it and they’re struggling with debt, then financial reasons aren’t the reasons why Nintendo’s holding back.

    2. Nowhere in the post does it mention Nintendo not being able to afford it.
Its common knowledge that Nintendo has money to spare.
Even Pachter and Sessler acknowledge that fact.

    3. They can EASILY EASILY PEASILY afford to have the big E3 conference. They just are choosing not to for what ever reasons such as Directs , etc.

They are in a much much MUCH more powerfull financial position than Sony , so that’s that.

  6. Surprise!
    Didn’t see this coming :O
Well, I’m looking forward to Microsoft’s presentation.
PS4’s price is all I want from Sony.
Nintendo should wow us, while the rest of the industry downplays how well they did…

  7. This may be due to the fact that E3 presentations can only last up to 1 hour. Nintendo must have a lot to show, and can’t fit it all into 1 hour.

  8. I trust Nintendo and all but I’m kinda apprehensive about this. They’re the main reason I watch E3 in the first place and I doubt the 2 smaller presentations will be aired on TV. (Streamed, maybe, but I can’t DVR streams while at school) Plus to me it makes it feel that they don’t have anything big to announce seeing as they’re not having a presentation.

Oh well, hopefully whatever they have planned will be just aa good as a full scale presentation.

  10. I just gotta say after reading all the comments from you Mega Yoshi you are nothing more than a sonyf anboy wanna be troll .. you talk about IOS games destroying the 3ds and that more people by mobile devises than the 3ds while being true doesn’t mean crap only gamers buy 3ds/ds/vita/psp everyone buys cell phones they are not gamers and IOS games are crap little games that are designed to kill 5-10 mins of your time ……if a cellphone outsells the 3ds it means nothing they are not in the same market ..you need to read up on the stats right now the 3ds is trhe best selling GAMING devise on the market .. the WII outsold every one last gen .. yes the Wii U is not selling that great but neither did the 3ds but look what happened after more games came out and also WII U launce did better than the 360/ps3 launch did anyways and no one claimed doom for these guys … the whole Nintendo is doomed thing is getting old they have been doomed since the gamecube you need to get over it Nintendo is not going any where anytime soon they have been around for decades and know what the hell they are doing way more than some little twat hiding behind a computer screen people like you need to learn some respect for this company that single handedly saved the damn gaming market back in the 80s and if not for them Sony probably would not be around today … this fanboy thing is getting old just enjoy what you enjoy no matter what company it is we are all gamers everyone has diffrent taste and no one is wrong in that taste

  11. That’s fine, E3 is becoming less important anyway. PS4 will cost around $500, and Xbox will cost at least $450. They are going to sell ver little.

      1. Anything less than $500 and you’ll know Sony was lying about the PS4’s power.
Superior tech comes at a price.
Also, if my count is correct, this makes post #200 for this article.
