Published by Capcom, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars was released way back in 2008 on the Wii, and, nowadays, not all retailers sell copies of the fighting game. Therefore, Capcom’s Christian Svensson was recently asked whether there’s a chance the game sees a re-release, either physically at retail, or digitally via the Nintendo eShop. Svensson replied by saying that, as far as he’s concerned, there are no plans of the matter.
Is there any chance of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom being re-released either as a download for the E-shop or on disc? I know the rights have lapsed, but if there is a demand for it, will you consider it?
Svensson: There’s no plans I’m aware of and as you point it, it would mean Capcom Japan amending the prior agreement or creating a new one as well as potentially new development, unless Nintendo at some point has plans to release Wii ISOs digitally (which I’m not aware of happening).
Would you purchase Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, if it were released on the Nintendo eShop for Wii U? Do you think there’s enough demand for it? Let us know in the comments below.
I bought a copy on launch day. I actually wasn’t aware that it was out of print, but I’m glad I bought it when I did. One of the best fighting games out there.
Right! I also have my Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom hard copy. Glad with that too.
Damn right. Take that SSF4.
Weird, Amazon’s displaying new copies for $25… Doesn’t seem very rare to me.
Yeah I bought one sealed just for the heck of it, incase it randomly shoots up in price. If not then I still have a good fighting game. Win win.
Yes.. :( i want one copy, but don’t have money, damn..it =_=
Buy the same game no, buy and updated version with much better online for the wii u? Yes.
It wouldn’t be nearly as in-demand as the next Smash will be, that’s for sure.
This game was pretty hard for me to find glad I have it now
Best fighting game on wii.
TvC <<<<<<<<< Brawl
Well can’t really compare a 1v1 2d fighter to a game Brawl.
Brawl was utter shit.
Melee was a deep fighter that took skill to master. Brawl on the other hand was a cheap, casual, spam fest.
I call bullshit.
Melee was faster, sure, but all of those things like L-canceling and Wave-Dashing also unbalanced the roster to put some characters far ahead of others just from being able to use them.
It caused the game to grow a rift between normal and competitive play, turning one side of it into an elitist circle-jerk that constantly went out of its way to put down anyone that didn’t play their way.
That’s the reason that that game was the only one out of the three to coin the meme “No items, Fox only, Final Destination”.
Brawl was the better balanced game[not including Meta Knight] despite its lack of advanced tactics because elitists suddenly had to think and play just as cleverly as everyone else to score a win. They couldn’t fall back on advanced tactics to score easy KO’s against anyone even a small step below them in skill, and that made matches last longer and become much more fun.
“They couldn’t fall back on advanced tactics to score easy KO’s against anyone even a small step below them in skill”
FINAL SMASHES
1. Final Smashes is a silly reply, as it has nothing to do with the point he made about advanced tactics (for example, wave dashing = advanced tactic). 2. Final Smashes can be turned off. Most serious players keep them off. 3. Calling Brawl ‘cheap’ and ‘casual’ is needlessly putting yourself in a position to be corrected. You disliking it doesn’t somehow make it cheap or casual.
Final smashes are easily avoidable, and even in item matches most people avoid them anyways.
Try harder.
No, i hate it when people say that. Melee was a faster game but it was only deep because Fox was really OP, most of the characters were balanced, but the game was full of clones.
The only bullshit in Brawl was the tripping.
Well said.
You obviously are not hardcore into fighters. Brawl has pretty awful to most in the fighting game community.
Is that why it was at EVO?
It dosent belong at evo
EVO disagrees.
It doesn’t. Glad it’s not their this year.
It did in the past, which means it’s only recently that something else replaced it.
It still has its place if it’s been there even once.
That’s a blatant, flat-out lie.
Project M is the best way to play Smash. You get the best of both worlds and then some.
Bullshit, Capcom all re-releases stuff, that’s practically all they do these days.
Yes, but for this one they failed to renew the licence making it hard for them to re-release a game that didn’t sell well in the first place.
fantastic fighting game. still have my copy.
The only good vs fighter that capcom made this gen and capcom wont at least make a arcade turbo super ultra edition.
You never played Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 did you? Or are you butthurt cause it’s not on a Nintendo console?
After being scamed by the original version? No thanks. Tatsunoko is superior cause it actualy has a complete roster unlike marvel vs your walled.
DLC on disc
the games not all that great good game but mortal kombat 9 was 20x better then that game had a lot more depth to it, more modes, but a crappy online at times but still good. plus mvc2 is still the best not because of all the characters in it but it had more to it
Mortal Kombat… Yuck
Oh how I wish I could thumbs down you…
The single player is the very definition of bare-bones. After playing Brawl (probably the deepest fighter as far as replayability and collectables), TvsC feels cheap.
… But get it anyway, you’ll have fun after you get the controls down/spam Zero.
i would DEFINITLEY download it from the Wii U eShop…after all I’m a HUGE fan of Tatsunoko Production.
Any reason people are begging for freakin’ remakes and re-releases? Make my Nintendo vs Capcom/ vs Skullgirls/ vs DC/ vs Getbackers/ vs Disney/ vs Dragonball/ vs TMNT/ vs Square/ vs Sega! There are sooo many exciting mash-ups, a re-release would be a waste of time… unless they let us download the Japanese version of TvsC with the extra character and anime endings for each fighter… that might be worth it.
god I hope the wii u gets the good 2d fighters like blazblue, KOF, and guilty gear. I would play those so much. hope we get the next marvel vs Capcom game and other crossovers. I just want fighters to play. cant wait for the next smash bros!
I have Guilty Gear on my Wii.
yah I know theres one on there. I just hope we get them for wii u and wii u compatible fight sticks. I love 2d Japanese fighters like guilty gear and I want them on my wii u. but im not gunna get my hopes up to have them crushed
Make Nintendo Vs Capcom
needs to happen but i think theres been talk about it
nintendo vs sega, oh shit now that would be awesome. actually no never mind we will have to here the fagot sonic the hedgehog fanboys complain like always.
I got my copy on Day 1 and the TvC fightstick so no need for a re-release for me thanks.
Yes. I would get a copy. I’ve played the game on the Wii, so if it was re-released and maybe they upped the graphics a bit to this newer gen, then I would definitely buy it. It was a great game.
Yeah an update with customized controls would be great But even greater would be nintendo vs capcom vs marvel, shonen jump vs tatsunoku all stars or any combination of those.
I much prefer TvC to MvC3. Capcom would probably be better off pursuing a brand new deal with Tatsunoko and making TvC2
Fighting games don’t have much replay value for me unless there is a good character customize option. Soul Caliber and Tekken are great because of that reason I think.
At least there was some talk of TvC there at Capcom. I still play this game online, and a sequel or even a HD remake for Wii U would be really cool imo. Maybe another exclusive VS. fighter for Wii U would make a nice sort of successor even if it’s not Tatsunoko.
I’m glade I bought my copy when I did years ago :)
