Shadow Of The Eternals Studio Boss Speaks Out Over Past Concerns

shadow of the eternalsIt’s been two days since the crowdfunding campaign for the Wii U and PC title Shadow of the Eternals launched. So far, the upcoming spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness has been successful, with the campaign raising just over $112,000, and pitting them at the 7.5% way point of their $1,500,000 goal. And with 1800 backers, Precursor Games CEO Paul Caporicci thought it was high-time to address some of the issues fans may have by posting their first update.

Caporicci has alleviated backers fears by saying that if the funding goal is not reached, all backers will receive a full refund for their contribution, and that, in the mean-time, Precursor Games is working to get an official Kickstarter page up and running.

He also addressed fans personally about his past baggage, most notoriously, when he was made redundant as well as his relationship with Denis Dyack, and said: “As many people can relate, being laid off is an emotionally distressing experience. When this happened to me, I was determined to turn this toward more positive ends. I began reaching out to others to see if they were interested in starting something brand new, using lessons learned from past experiences. Denis Dyack was my first choice for Creative, as he has a keen understanding on the creative aspects of game development. It saddens me to read that people’s impressions of him are painted by anonymous accounts of other individuals. I’ve known Denis for 10 years now, and from first hand experience I consider him to be one of the most honourable people I know, and undeserving of the amount of negative accusations he receives.

“I knew Shawn Jackson’s attention to detail, enthusiasm and experience would really balance our management team as Chief Operating Officer. The rest of the Precursor team is equally talented, and I’m amazed by the results we’ve achieved with our demo. Precursor Games has been built from the ground up to do something new, and we are excited to show and work with you on our first project — “Shadows of the Eternals”.”

And when asked about his involvement with Nintendo, he had the following to say: “We have been in constant communication with Nintendo, and they have been very supportive of our endeavour to bring this game to their platform.”

If you wish to back the campaign, you can head over to their official page to donate.

  1. Okay, this most be the best way to make money on a game. First get somebody else to pay for the development and then just cash in the games profit…

  2. backers get there money back and more DUMB NUT ,jesus i need search your ip come to your house and bitch slap you….

Denis Dyack hhhmmmmm well i habe it on good faith the guys a fucking retard who screams at staff then returns to the office and plays with and polishes his wall mounted sward

    jesus EGO ALERT

    1. Backers don’t get their money back, they get some kind of reward. All the profit ends to the guys who made the game, not the ones who payed for it to be made.

  3. ive just been playing eternal darkness but cant get in the last level, i missed one of the ancient essences, only got 2 and need three. how did this happen!! i think i missed ulayoth the blue one or maybe i need the purple one mantorock. how the hell did i miss something that shouldnt be missed!! nobody has any info on it either!! dont even know fuck, was such a great game and now i probably wont be able to finish it somehow

    1. this game is awesome, i dont even think im explaining this good but fuck!! now ill never finish it, i never play a game for like 4 hours straight!!

        1. its ok, i found out its in the fucking book shelve!! haha this would of helped me over have the game ago. i just started to finally get the feel of this game and im almost done. dang, very fresh feeling but i was playing xenoblade so i forgot about the bookshelve cutscene over a year ago!!

  4. Already backed it;). I want to see this game come to the Wii U! If Nintendo was wise they would put large sums of money into this game and promote the hell out of it as eternal darkness 2, because I know there are some die hard fans of the original.

    1. agreed, i LOVED THE FIRST GAME, and have been foaming at the mouth since this announcement, it was not just a horror game,it was more a psychological horror,an action game, i loved everything about the first game,an i hope Nintendo wakes the hell up an put down some money on this game, i just wish it was a wii-u only game, like the first was a game cube only, Nintendo needs more mature content games like this, and since Nintendo owns the copyright for the sanity meter used in the first, and also to be in the sequel, i think Nintendo should defo back this game!!

      1. Nintendo probably will help this project, after all, they were the ones to revive Platinum after Sony and Microsoft left it to die.

      2. iagree with you i said the same thing but instead i had some fanboys bash me about how i said nintendos image isnt kiddie and they need more mature titles to show it. seriously i dont understand some people

  5. This dude says they have been in constant contact with Nintendo…the Guy from Just Cause says Nintnendo is hard to vet in contact with…somebody is lying. And I doubt its the these guys at precursor.

    1. I think it is neither of them. What is happening with the guy from Avalanch is there was a bad translation from Norwegian to English. Someone brought this to the attention on that other page. Words are being put in Avalanche’s mouth. 💋

      1. Actually, as polite as he may have been, the man from Avalanche said exactly what was reported, that they’re not making games for Wii U because the user base is small and Nintendo is not contacting them; it may have been taken out of context by making it sound like a fanboy’s rant, but in the end the piss poor excuses are still there.

  6. Anita Sarkeesian could learn from this guy.
Also, I find it funny how this guys, who are involved in an indie project and only have about 8 percent of their goal, are already in talks with Nintendo, meanwhile, the Avalanche has had a dev kit for months and somehow they can’t communicate with Nintendo, HA HA.
