Capcom Unveils ‘Blood’ Filled Swimming Pool To Mark Resident Evil Revelations Release

resident evil revelationsYou didn’t think Capcom could get any bolder and bloodier after last year’s human butchery for the Resident Evil 6 launch, did you? Although this may burst your bubble, Capcom has traversed the dark path once again to deliver you a blood-soaked day by presenting fans with the first blood filled swimming pool.

The pool is 16ft by 32ft large and over one metre in depth, taking in around 55,000 gallons of water, and as MCV reports, is equivalent to the blood of 11,327 people.  The pool will be filled with a series of Resident Evil treats for fans brave enough to swim into the deepest parts, which they are able to keep. And if you didn’t think the ‘blood’ water – made with non-staining coloured dye – was enough, you’ll find human torso floats, rows of brains and intestines representing lane markers and even zombie lifeguards to keep a steady eye out.

The event, which is scheduled to take place on May 25 and 26 in London’s Jupiter Wharf, is to mark the release of Resident Evil Revelations on May 24 for Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC – plus, it’s also entirely free to the public. However, there are only 100 tickets on offer, so make sure you grab yours here on May 20, when tickets go on sale to the general public. The pool is only open to those aged 16 and above, with under 18’s to be accompanied by an adult.

In support of the event, Capcom’s UK PR Manager Adam Merrett, said:

“Capcom are thrilled to able to create the world’s first blood swimming pool. Zombies have been kept very busy lately doing a variety of PR stunts, so rather than do the expected, we wanted to give them some time off for canal side relaxation in London.

“To non-zombies, the swimming pool will be shocking, gory and an incredibly disturbing experience – the perfect way to show that survival horror is back with a bang for Resident Evil Revelations.”

          1. “No one” is singular, “have” is for plural,”no one has” is correct, so you need to stay in school or go back, whatever the case is.

            1. Thanks for sharing your dictionary.com finds next time you could share it with someone that gives a fuck.

  1. There better be some wiiu versions in that pool. Im not getting inside crap to get a even more watered down ps360 version.

  2. Ewwww. It better now be real blood or that would be the nastiest thing ever. Like a scene from an unreleased Blade movie :/

    1. I think it would even freak Dexter Morgan out if it was a pool of real blood! It’s made from a ‘special mixture’ of non-staining colourants. I wouldn’t recommend drinking it though, unless they flavoured it with strawberries.

      1. lol! well , I would definitely jump in for a swim then. They should have that techno rave music from Blade playing!

  3. Link, Wandering Hero

Wow, this is brilliant! There’s no way this PR stunt could ever backfire and reflect poorly on the videogame community! /sarcasm

    1. Did you see the Mega Man they were coming out with? That was NOT the blue bomber that we all know and love. It looked like a rehash of the failed Bomberman game.

      1. It was also being made by ex Metroid Prime developers, which instantly makes it good. But that game, couple with Legends, Battle Network and the main series creates a diversity that Capcom desperately
        needs

        1. Diversity has not been Capcom’s strong point. DmC for one. I liked the game but it did not do nearly as well as they expected. Also, when you jump that far from the original, you tend to alienate your core audience.

          1. Thats not anything like what i was saying.
Giving fans the “real Mega Man”, the 2D sidescroller, but also releasing other things creates a balance.
Much in the way Legends and Battlenetwork were nothing like the Mega Man games of the past, they gained their own following.
And then there’s someone like me, who’d happily buy all of those games.
Honestly, saying “its not Mega Man” is just as bad as saying “Metroid Prime isn’t Metroid”, or “Wind Waker isn’t Zelda”, or “Mario RPG games aren’t Mario”. They’re all part of a big franchise, but all different games.

            1. We are talking about 2 different things here. I’m talking about the look appeal of the new Mega Man, your talking about the games themselves. I have no argument with you on the latter, I was just stating that I didn’t think the new Mega Man looked like he filled the shoes well (visually).

  5. Yep, figured it was color dye. If it was blood, either the Red Cross would get on their case or if they had supplied it the Red Cross would get plenty of angry letters about wasting blood.

Again, though, they just used color dye.

  6. they basically said resident evil 5 & 6 sucked, ‘showing that the survival horror is back with resident evil’. they know that 5 & 6 sucked and this was the last good one since 4!! keep to survival horror instead of action cod dull crap bullshit!!

  7. Why in the hell would they use real blood? Seriously?
Anyway, does anyone know what the pricing of the game will be? Full price (59.99) or less? I’m hoping for no more then 39.99…

  8. I’m glad to see Ressident Evil: Revelations is finally coming to the bigger consoles, especially after its major success on the 3DS. They said the Wii U port was going to use the gamepad in some sorta way. but the PC version is also coming out via Steam.

    Also, a “blood-filled” pool? I wish I was there in London. D:

(FACT: Resident Evil’s Chris Redfield’s voice actor, Roger Craig Smith, is the current voice actor for Sonic the Hedgehog, and was also the voice of Ezio in Assassin’s Creed II, Brotherhood, and Revelations.)
