Amazon UK has put up a listing for Earthbound for Wii U and has priced it up at £44.99. This could be a simple mistake by the popular online retailer, or we could see Nintendo release the entire Mother series on the Wii U. Alternatively, Nintendo could be planning an HD entry in the Earthbound series for Wii U, but this seems fairly unlikely. Do you think there’s a possibility of Nintendo releasing the entire Mother series physically on Wii U?

An HD remake for retail would most likely imply completely new visuals. I wouldn’t mind having graphics similar to the Onett stage in Smash Brothers Melee. They’re clean, simple, and colorful — all very fitting for Mother games.

After reading all of your posts.. I can honestly say you’re really one sided. There have been plenty of good things coming from Nintendo lately. Although I’m specifically mentioning the 3DS, the point still stands. Nintendo does a good job with their first party stuff. Rarely have I personally found a first party game to be low quality — even on the wii. Yes, it would be nice to see more variety in IPs and gameplay, but it doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy what’s already available.
Sometimes the nice thing about a game is that they minimize change. It keeps people familiar with the franchise. Pokemon for example. Everyone is familiar with it as an RPG. Most of the games, even the spin offs, continue to introduce this RPG element with minimal changes to their respective franchise. When they want a new mechanic or want to make a spin off, they normally don’t make it so large that the gameplay people are familiar with will change completely. When you do that, you have disasters like Banjo Kazooie nuts and bolts — which in its defense isn’t a bad game, but turned people off because it was completely unfamiliar to fans of the series in almost every way.
For another example since you mentioned Mario: yes, he gets a LOT of games. But note that he also has a LOT of spin offs. He has 2d platformers, 3d platformers, puzzle games, racing games, RPGs, sports, party games.. you name it, they most likely have it. There’s a mario game for everyone and I find that to be a smart move. The only ones that fail to make big changes are the 2D platformers. Yes, it’s annoying to some people, but to others its exciting because they prefer old school platforming. You can’t judge Nintendo, a franchise, or a fan base as a whole just because you disagree with something they do. We’ll continue to see new games on their consoles and I can at least promise the first party games will deliver to you at some point.
But you can watch TV on the Xbox one :(

Well, if the games really we re released for the Wii U or 3DS, I’d definitely buy it in a heartbeat. The Earthbound series is pretty legendary and known as some of Nintendo’s best works. It’d be awesome to try it
