Nintendo Considered Showing Zelda Wii U At E3

zelda_wii_u_demoThe Legend of Zelda franchise had two titles on show today – The Wind Waker HD and A Link Between Worlds – but what we really wanted to see was a little bit more of the new Zelda title for the Wii U. Though our expectations were not met, series creator Shigeru Miyamoto has admitted that Zelda Wii U was considered for this year’s E3, but the tease was clearly too tempting. Here’s what he had to say to Game Informer:

“Work on [Zelda Wii U] is progressing fairly concretely. In fact, we were thinking about showing it here at E3 but decided to wait just a little bit longer before sharing it with everyone.”

Thanks, Brandon

      1. He’s not a faggot, hes just really devoted to his job, being first. And I actually enjoy his comments it amuses me and gives me a good chuckle, so all I have to say is, if you don’t like him just ignore him don’t post replies like, “ahh hes ruining my experience on this forums”, “ahh my name is bob” etc.

    1. See things like this piss me off. The wiiu is struggling but they dont release a preview of a soon to be epic game. >_<

        1. Let me borrow your fingers so I can count how many fucks I dont give. And be sure to keep your toes available just in case.

                1. thats because he was here for only one day, and it only took one day for people to hate him and make alts. thats exactly why this site has so many trolls, this site ir troll bate!!!!! go a couple articles back some of them have quite a bit of reactions and some even alts of him.

        1. Well this is good news in itself. This proves that they had the New Zelda ready 2 go! Add to that the High probability of Metroid U, and we have an awesome next year cooking up too! Nintendo has more people!!! They just know buisiness, and are dripfeeding the games as to not show ALL their cards just yet… Im good there are PLENTY of great games coming this year so im excited!

    1. Give them time, then we will be truly amazed, remember that wretched game that wasn’t good because of fans rushing it?
      We don’t want a Zelda 06

  1. Oh Nintendo, why the big flop? You have to stand tall. Thanks for fucking off all your fans in one shit day.

    1. e3 was pretty good
plus remember this is a Nintendo Direct
they have one every 2-3 months
wait and the awesomeness will be anounced, “Directly to you.”

  2. I can’t wait to see it, Nintendo.
Just don’t rush it!!! That is SO important. Like Shiggy once said; “A delayed game is good eventually, but a bad game is bad forever.”

  3. Oh those funny guys at nintendo. They are holding several cards up their sleeves and this is one. FOr all we know they could have Star fox and some other games up there as well and are waiting for the key time to tell us.

    1. They shouldn’t be any question about the Wii U’s “power” after today. The graphics of Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, and X proved that. The decisions (or lack there-of) made at the top are what is questionable. They keep making excuses for just being plain lazy.

  4. Exactly! How dumb can we be to really think that NINTENDO, just threw ALL their cards right now, and b4 the other 2 even launch? They aint stupid. There ARE more games you can bet your panties on it!

    1. @Truth4thahaterz.. You make an excellent point. I didn’t think about that. Maybe they are holding some cards, and will reveal their hand close to the Xbox 1/PS4 launches. At least that’s what I hope!

  5. Come on, they already have Wind Waker HD and A Link Between Worlds this E3.
Did you really expect Nintendo to show THREE different Zelda games the same E3?

  6. oh well. we got two zelda games so that’s fine. can’t wait to see how zelda wiiu will look and play like.

  7. to all saying the Direct was disappointing
    For me IT WASN’T
    Why?
Well, Nintendo said that they were skipping the Press con for a reason: they wanted to have more ways to announce news other than the E3. That’s why this Direct was not so overcharged.
Also, I left me satisfied(except for Retro’s game). I got to see the new Mario(which I like it), the new 3rd parties(damn you square for no KH3, but that’s not N’s problem), the new WW, and Mario Kart. We also got to see the best of the best, Super Smash Bros. In fact, we got to see way more on this Smash’s than the 2007 one.

Even if the Direct was not as good as we expected, it is because is a Direct not a 3 hour conference.
I expect a Direct next month, since Iwata said some time ago they wanted to have a Direct monthly

Hope to see if there are other ppl thinking the same way I do

This Direct was Quality over Quantity

    1. I loved the direct mainly for bayonetta, Monoliths game and smash but dear god retro’s project was a downer 2 years of silence two years for this.

    2. donkey kong WAS retros game, reggie said in his interview, why do people keep saying they didnt show retros game

  8. Had they shown even just a teaser for Zelda Wii U, Nintendo would have won even more than they already did. They had to hold back a little bit, haha. Let the PS4 get some attention, which it does deserve. Xbox One not so much however.

  9. Yes, yes , keep on coming. I can’t wait to see what else they wanted to show, but didn’t. This day just gets better and better. *shakes head*

  10. Let them do what they need to do. Besides there are still tons of secrets to unveil on the games shown anyway. Zelda will be one hell of a game.

  11. I would of loved to see it, but at the same time I think it was a wise move that they didn’t. If they would of showed it, the waiting would be unbearable imo. I’d rather have them tease it once it’s almost done.

  12. Why couldn’t they at least tease us a little bit to show more about Wii U? The direct overall was very dry with nothing really new being shown besides Donkey Kong.

  13. They said we will wait a little bit longer does that mean it will be shown at a nintendo direct surely they dont mean e32014

  14. If Retro took 3 years to make a new Donkey Kong, then Zelda could be 4-5 years. The tech demo was 2011, so around 2015 or 2016 maybe? Nintendo knows and understands that their fan base is willing to wait for that long anyway….

  15. I’m confused about something. Before E3 and the Nintendo Direct happened, they were showing a picture of a closed curtain, talking about “what’s behind the curtain”? Did Nintendo ever pull the curtain open? What was behind it?

  17. think this was actually not a bad choice, the development of the game is going well yes, but remember what they said? this is going to be a very different Zelda game, so they need to make sure they have everything down so they can show the best possible product to the public, that way they get you excited! give it a month or two they almost showed it, so they must be getting close to the best possible product they can get with the time they’ve had
