      1. As soon as the 3DS and Wii U eras are over, the numbers will be around 800 million…

And when the 9th generation is over it will be 1 Billion so yes it will happen eventually and considering our Empire will last for another 80,1 cycles, we will have atleast 2-3 Billion sold consoles…

          1. That’s not the worst number ever I guess…

Personally I expect more but it all depends on all the unannounced games they have to announce this year and probably the upcoming 2-3 years…

  1. No suprise here. Its Nintendo the real gaming company, not one of those wannabe multimedia companies.

    1. 60,000 a day for THIRTY YEARS.
We’re talking about products that a given person will only buy once.
Massive achievement. Do you know how many indie developers would kill to sell 60,000 copies of their game?

      1. I wonder the same!

        Maybe somewhere in Switzerland?

But probably their Lucky Dime are in their headquarter in Kyoto…

          1. XD

By the way, you made me think about something interesting: when I was a child, all my money was in my wallet. I could feel it. I could see it.

Now, at least 95% of my money stand as a binary code anywhere inside the computer system of my bank. I see my balance on the screen of my computer. Now I feel it when I grab my credit card to pay the cashier.

            Times have changed…

    1. Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox have not been in the gaming industry nearly as long, so why would they even try to “beat” that or catch up?

  2. Wow, that’s sad. When the wii has sold 100mil by its self. That means basically half of its console has been one machine. All those others have done poorly, nintendo has had many failures in its time and many more shorted lived consoles.

    1. Every console until the N64 era lived in the shadow of the “Video games are for kids” era…

But now it is not a thing for only children which it never was anyway…

      1. He was talking about home consoles, which corresponds to 268 mil units sold. Of course, 100 mil is not the half of 268 mil, but now I believe you got the point. :)

  3. Wow! Nintendo is a MONSTER! when it come’s to consoles. Wii U is lagging by a lot right now. That’s due to lack of games so everyone knows the sales will pick up this holiday season and there after.

Good Job Nintendo! Keep it up!

      1. Are swedish able to speak spanish? :)

By the way, Commander, I find very interesting how swedish and norwegian languages look alike… Please correct me if I’m wrong.

As a last note, it’s impressive how finnish differs from the other languages spoken in the rest of nordic region.

        1. Well I can anyway…

I understand and speak French somewhat good…

Swedish/Norwegian/Danish are all very similar so I understand all of them although it’s somewhat hard to understand danish when they speak…

Finnish is a bit peculiar indeed…

          1. I’m somehow able to read and understand some French, but definitely unable to speak and comprehend.

I regret I went to France and to the French area in Switzerland twice without speaking French. Hard times. Maybe I was unlucky, but people were not friendly at all, even when I tried to start a conversation in French apologizing my unfamiliarity of the French language.

            Oh, well…

            1. Where are you from?…

As in some areas in France and so on they don’t really like Americans and others with similar point of views…

I didn’t have any problems being in Paris though…

              1. I’m a Brazilian that has serious issues with the “Brazilian way of life”.

Anyway, I’ve been living and working in the US for a couple of years now, but I’m already making plans to go back. Family and friends are waiting for me, and I feel somehow that it’s time to resume my life there – which implies to get a job, buy a house, etc.

I’ve been to a number of places over the world already, but my impressions of French people are not the best possible. But, as I said, I could be unlucky, and I don’t speak French as well.

Actually, now I remember that I had a conversation with you about Midsummer Festival and Goteborg a while ago (I don’t believe I was logged in by that time). I’m planning to visit Sweden again, but this time I would like to go to Stockholm. Maybe then Oslo, Copenhagen and finally somewhere in Greenland. I’m saving money for that.

                1. What do you refer to then?…

The things I’ve heard about Brazil lately aren’t that good I have to admit…

That’s understandable, if you’re not that happy then I guess it’s time to move on…

What parts in France were you at?…

Personally I didn’t have any problems with anything even though my spoken french isn’t 100% french like it’s still pretty solid…

I remember asking them in english first about where I could find the trainstation but then they said they didn’t know english so they called a guy who knew a bit…

But he had difficulties explaining in english so I told him that he could just say it in french and it was pretty hard understanding him considering he talked fast…

I understood the vital parts though like directions and places so I thanked him and eventually found the station…

But maybe you just got unlucky with those people…

If you have a 3DS we could talk more if you want…

Stockholm is a pretty fun city to visit indeed and so is Copenhagen…

I’ve never been to Oslo though…

                  1. Brazil has been all about mess – corruption in all spheres, social insecurity, social problems… A lot of people still believes that Brazil is doing well (which was wrongly and blatantly disseminated by the Lula government), but the bubble is about to explode.

I really don’t know what’s going to happen there from now on – we are about to host the World Cup and the Olympics. Don’t get me wrong, I love sports, but all the money that has been amiss invested (some of if has been clearly diverted) should have been used to promote better infra-structure conditions for the citizens.

Paris. I’ve been to Paris. And also Geneva and surroundings (in Switzerland, of course).Other than the food, I don’t miss that part of the world. But I won’t say that I could not visit those places again.

Sure, I do have a 3DS. I don’t have it here with me, but I’ll give you my FC as soon as possible.

                    1. Nintendo Commander

Ah yes, exactly the things I’ve been hearing about and read about a bit…

Not only did the money go to the World Cup Stadium and so on but I heard that the bus/taxi prices that are supposed to take you there and prices in general were absurdely raised…

Well I would rather visit new places instead anyway…

                      Ok I’ll wait patiently then…

                    2. The cost of living in the Brazilian big cities are ridiculously high. The taxes, fees, tributes and whatever are insane. But, on the other hand, people don’t get any improvements with regard to the infra-structure offered by the government.

Clearly something is wrong. Too wrong.

I’ll look for you and give you my FC elsewhere in this blog! Shall the Nintendo revolution start!

            1. Yeah… Same here, I’m too old to learn a foreign language. Sometimes I have terrible times with both spoken and written English…

        2. To this conversation: Hei, olen suomesta, se ei itse asiassa ole kovin
          vaikea kieli, kovin erinlainen vain.

          1. Sure…

            Nothing wrong with a hug…

Never really hugged anybody before as human behaviour is a bit strange to me…

    1. No…

      About 1/12 have owned a Nintendo console…

As there are about 7,1 billion humans on this small world…

  4. Ha! Take that Sony! Continue making your gory games! We’ll play some fun and awesome games! lol But seriously Sony make more games like Rachet or Jak. I miss games like those and sadly all they make is shooters and gory games now. Gaming Industry is loosing it’s creativity every generation… It’s sad :(

    1. ” sadly all they make is shooters and gory games now.”

Sony has released tons of games that are not gory or shooters. Just in recent times, these are some of the many games Sony published which are NOT gory or shooters:

      Gravity Rush
      LittleBigPlanet PS Vita
      Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
      Journey
      The Unfinished Swan
      LittleBigPlanet Karting
      Sound Shapes
      PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
      PixelJunk 4am
      Datura
      Escape Plan
      WipEout 2048
      The Puppeteer
      Little Deviants
      Invizimals
      Ratchet & Clank: FFA/Q-Force
Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus
      Free Realms
      DC Universe Online
      Frobisher Says
      Flower
      Tumble
      inFAMOUS Second Son
      DriveClub
      Knack
      Tearaway
      Diggs Nightcrawler

Need I go on? Gory games and shooters actually make up a small percentage of Sony’s full library.

      1. Dude, I think I need to remind you that you are on Nintendo fan site which means Nintendo fans don’t give it a crap to any games that is not on Nintendo consoles even it is AMAZING game of the year.

Basically you are fighting a endless war against fanboys / fangirls. Don’t worry I really like Sony games like Gravity Rush, Wipeout 2048, Flower, inFAMOUS series, and etc.

      2. FUCK!! WHY MUST YOU PROVE ME WRONG ALL THE DAMN TIME!! XD WHAT DID I DO TO YOU? WHY DO YOU HATE ME? Haha!

  6. nintendo sells massive numbers of hardware and software. lol !!! What happend to all of the trolls ? !!!!, No nintendo is doomed coments today ? !!! .There is no way that microcrap and $ony will ever top nintendo !!!!. And before haters talk about the wii u, the sales will improve. Nintendo’s system sellers are coming, it’s only a matter of time that the wii u will be a success. So trolls go crawl back under the bridge and stay there !!!. I dare you to Try to spin this into a nintendo doom and gloom story

  7. To this conservation:

Hei, olen suomesta, se ei itse asiassa ole kovin vaikea kieli, kovin erinlainen vain.

Hello, i’m from Finlan, it’s not actually very hard language, just very different.

    That is finnish.

    1. Don’t forget that is a revenue and not a net income. It also cost them money to make those consoles.

So it is will be less than $300 each for a profits. But you are right it is not bad at all. :D

      1. Oh yeah, I understand that side of it… I guess I was just a little surprised that it was 3.5 million Wii Us… its like, well, understandable considering it came almost before the Wii officially died (although I do think it was a waste to sell a “mini Wii”) and while XBox 360 (a console that was kind of so-so in sales) has been surging the past couple years and is actually at its height years down the road…
Which all proves that in the console game it is staying power, and staying the course, that brings results… quality games keep coming and the audience/buyers return.
By the way, I think the Wii U is awesome… and outside of not having a Resident Evil that had the RE4 Wii controls (or RE4 HD) and perhaps a REAL Bond game… I’ve had no complaints
(well… maybe slow OS, but if that is eventually fixed, Im cool… its Nintendo)

  8. Stop focusing on all the awesomeness of yesteryear and start focusing on making this new child reach its own awesomeness; hell, its handheld older brother has already reached its own awesomeness and is still climbing. They do this all the damn time: Distracting us from current woes by reminding us of how awesome they were back then. Well, we’re no longer in back then now, are we?

  9. The amount of consoles sold doesn’t really determine whether a console sucks or not. Look at the Gamecube. It didn’t sell as many consoles as Nintendo wanted to sell, but yet it’s one of my favorite consoles EVER. I’ll NEVER understand why that didn’t sell better?

  11. This proves that Nintendo knows what they are doing. Even if they slip up right now, they have had a long run. They know the ups and downs in business, so they can handle any problem that comes their way. I don’t really care for the doom and gloom comments people say about Nintendo. It just a form of jealousy.
