GameStop Source Claims Company Printed Copies Of Xenoblade And Labeled As Preowned

xenoblade_us_cover_3

Online gaming publication Kotaku is reporting that a source close to GameStop has told them that the company printed a few thousand copies of Xenoblade Chronicles with no shrink-wrap in order to restock their inventory, then labeled them as pre-owned. The company then decided to charge $90 for the acclaimed game. The gaming publication contacted GameStop and was told that the company is looking into the matter.

    1. Agreed…

It needs to have a Nintendo type of feel…

Preferably showing Mario using the Xbox Done as a jump box…

        1. And together we shall triumph against evil (Microsoft) and beat the Sonyans back to the 8-Bit age…

          1. Ill just enjoy my xbox one and ps4 because I can afford both. I currently use my wii u as a coaster because it HAS NO GAMES!

    2. Everyone GAMEFLY “SELLS” THIS GAME FOR 50 DOLLARS DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND SIGN UP FOR THE FREE 15 DAY TRIAL THEN RENT XENOBLADE CANCEL ACCOUNT BEFORE 15 DAY FREE TRIAL PERIOD IS OVER BAMM 50 dollars for a great RPG !!!!!

      1. yeah they also make twice as more money as us ($18/hour average Minimum) when ours is $6-$8/hour, lets talk about that, yeah.

        1. And that proves what? That they still get charged more. The only way their money is of any usable wort is online.

            1. Prices in Australia are made in projection with their earnings forward exsample a tomato in Australia cost a 1$ a pound while if they buy it online it will cost them 50¢ same has consoles. Australian money power is better used online.

          1. shut up you fucking retard, they get way more pay than the us yet all you guys ever do is bitch about shit being more expensive. yeah it would be nice to be charged more for way better pay!!!!!!

              1. It does though. Prices are relative to wages. If people make more money, they can afford to spend more, so prices rise. It’s pretty simple.

    1. If they are selling new Nintendo has to get a cut of the money which they printed their own and selling as pre owned they cut Nintendo’s profits and GameStop makes and keeps ALL the money

      1. But Nintendo is the one that prints the games not gamestop. Nintendo will still know and want their cut regardless.

              1. Look at the active discussion.
I realize that they could just distribute more physical copies, but who knows if there’s a problem behind it.

        1. Nintendo owns Monolith Soft, So it’s up to Nintendo whether they would put Xenoblade Chronicles on the WiiU eShop. But knowing Nintendo it will probably never happen.

            1. Only because Nintendo doesn’t want to do it, It is possible to put it on the eShop if Nintendo were willing to put the effort into doing so.

Sony puts PSone and PS2 games on the PS Store for PS3, PSP games on PSVita Store.

Microsoft puts Xbox games on Xbox 360 Marketplace.

              1. Of course if they put a large amount of effort into tweaking the system it could work, but I don’t really see that coming.

            2. What are you, stuck in the Gamecube era?
PS2 games have been available on the PS3 for years. Why can’t fucking Wii games be on the WiiU eShop? No excuse.

                1. Wii and Wii U games were differently. That’s why the easiest way to do backward compatibility was making the Wii emulator (Wii Mode) on Wii U and each Virtual Console game needed to be modified for a Wii U eShop release using a Virtual Console emulator designed to run for Wii U rather than Wii.

If they wanted to market Wii games as Virtual Console games, they would first need to develop a Wii Virtual Console emulator that would work for Wii U without going into Wii Mode, as Wii games cannot be sold through the Wii Shop Channel due to their file size, but can be sold easily through the Wii U’s eShop.

With all the Wii controllers and accessories compatible with Wii U, it would be a waste of potential profit if seven years of games didn’t come to Wii U in some way or another. We already have Wii Mode for the Nintendo Shop Channel, but the retail games need a way to be resold too.

    1. nintendo isnt printing anymore wii games buddy the wii is dead. i got my copy when it released over a year ago for $40 you should’ve did the same but you didn’t and now your butt hurts having to pay $90 for a gamestop printed knockoff.lmfao!!!

        1. how did you like pandoras tower?? to me it was better than zelda SS or overhyped garbage. it was really good, underrated. probably the most underrated wii game.

        2. WHAT ARE U TALKING ABOUT I PURCHASED THE GAME LAST YEAR 2012 AND PANDORA’S TOWER IS A OLD GAME THAT WAS JUST PORTED TO NA REGION IN APRIL.AND THEY PROBABLY DID THAT TO BURN OFF THE LAST OF THERE INVENTORY LIKE I SAID THE WII IS DEAD ALL FOCUS IS ON WII-U & 3DS.

    1. Yeah but I watched a documentary on T.V once that said prices in Mexcio are so high because everyone just steals or pirates games and movies and songs so stores/vendors have to sell their stuff at high prices for those who LEGITIMATELY buy their stuff so they can actually make money. Theft is way too high in Mexico…

  1. The worst thing that gamestop would have done with the game is remove the plastic from some unsold games and sell them has used and that’s it.

    1. you can get someone to hack your wii for way less than 90 bucks or you can just do it yourself like it did not too hard

          1. says the useless pathetic insect who made an uneducated reply to my comment. I enjoy putting fucking dumbass clowns like you in their place.

                  1. I already told your dumb-ass I love putting stupid clowns like you in their place. which part of that didn’t sink in your hollow head.

                          1. says the useless piece of shit clown who keeps saying that in a reply. keep entertaining me.

                                                  1. only difference is you’re extremely stupid so I’m getting more out of it. you’re my little pet clown.

                                                      1. quit trying to act 1% intelligent clown. you’ll continue to entertain me until I tell you otherwise you got that. every time I play my xenoblade from piratebay I remember how much of a funny fuck your are.

                                                          1. don’t go absolute retard on me just yet pet boy. I’m not sick of you yet. xenobalde is so much fun when it’s free.

                                                            1. do you think I give a flying fuck?
Free stuff is fine, but paid pirated stuff is just you shitting on the devs work, not paying and giving thanks for the game

                                                              1. stfu pet clown. I’d rather pirate than spend 90 for any fucking game any day. if you love wasting money like that on one game that’s your retarded problem.

                                              1. Generic game ? You must be a final fantasy 13 13-2 lover haha this is one of the best jrpgs to Come out in the last 10 years BTW why pay 90 when you can pay 50 at gamefly

                                                1. generic……. no, maybe you just didnt like it, try fucking final fantasy, generic to the bone. this is one of the best games last gen if not the best for some people. this gamefly thing was such a smart idea, how many copies do you think they have though????

                                                  1. This ^ hmm I wouldn’t have a clue for all we know game stop probably sold a lot of copies to gamefly but its a smart work around I tried it as I mentioned but I don’t know how many times one can do it before getting their account banned or “blacklisted”

                                                    1. yeah…… like how many copies could they possibly get of this game. im glad i got it day one, i really wasnt expecting anything that great, just got it because the wii sucks and that i though it was cool how big the game is. after like a few hours it ended up being awesome.

                                                      1. I sadly was late to the operation rainfall I supported Pandoras tower and got the last story cheap and xenoblade was the final one I got I had searched high and low for this game over 100 miles I traveled to get a great price just to fall short but in the end I found a loophole it works people jump on that deal

                                            1. im just wondering if x on wii u can be as good as this game…… im not going in with any hopes. the dolls just looked lame, like way to ruin the exploration. also if its online then another way to go.

                                              1. X looks fantastic. The “Dolls” (huge ass robots!) looked friggen sweet. Never played Xenoblade, but I am sure as hell going to get X!

                                              1. The only suspicious thing is that suddenly the stock came back not in one but in many Shamestops. And then they started promoting the game.

                                                  1. It is kinda proof to the extent that Gamestop HAS no proof to show that they restocked legitimate Xenoblades. How did they randomly get all these pre-owned versions? Did Gamestop buy them off ebay to resell as used?- That is the only way this rumor will be debunked.

                                                      1. Look Lucas’ comment, a few down from mine. That is the kind of moronic reaction that these rumours provoke. He doesn’t question it at all and simply accepts it as fact.

This is why rumours are dangerous.

                                            2. Wonder why this news doesn’t surprise me. As soon as I heard Gamestop was restocking Xenoblade and it cost $90 I was a little suspicious from the get go…okay maybe a LOT suspicious from the get go!

                                            3. I don’t get it, so they’re selling new games as used games? I don’t really get the uproar, this game brand new is going for like 150-200 USD.

                                            4. Gamestop has strengthened my boycott against them again… They’re abusing their privilege to have this game exclusive. If they really cared about gamers, they would print more copies and sell them for $60.

                                              1. Oh, I get it now, so they’re saying these games are pre owned and that they’re limited and thus inflating the price.

                                            5. We’ll have to wait for confirmation as to whether or not this is true, but if it is they’re going to see some serious fallout from this. It’s really short-sighted to attempt to hoodwink your customers in this manner.
