Disney Interactive today launched the company’s largest and most ambitious gaming initiative to date, Disney Infinity for the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 system, Wii U system, Wii system and Nintendo 3DS hand-held system. The starter pack features the game software, the Infinity Base, three character figures and Play Sets inspired by the worlds of The Incredibles, Monsters University and Pirates of the Caribbean, one Power Disc pack, a trading card with a web code and countless hours of creative play in the groundbreaking Toy Box mode.

We are excited to see how our Guests will combine Disney and Pixar characters to create all new stories that they can share with friends and family across gaming systems.”

In a way that only Disney can, each Disney Infinity character figure will come to life and play together in a virtual “Toy Box,” where they can build and customize their own unique virtual worlds using their favorite characters, vehicles, settings and more. The game also includes story-driven experiences, called “Play Sets,” which allow players to solve challenging puzzles, battle enemies and explore iconic locations from famous Disney properties.
Disney Infinity is available now on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Unique play experiences are available for Wii and 3DS systems, and on mobile devices. The Disney Infinity starter pack carries a suggested retail price of $74.99 and all versions are rated “E10+” by the ESRB. The Lone Ranger and Cars Play Sets are available separately for a suggested retail price of $34.99.

I would be very surprised if this undersells. Kids love Disney and kid love Toys and kids love video games. It’s a 3 in one! It will be as successful if not more successful than Skylanders.

Hurry up Nintendo babies. Go get your baby Nintendo Wii U games. Ask your parents to buy you your games as clearly you have no money to buy your own, hence Ubisoft themselves has said there is no Zombi U sequel planned as the game sold poorly on the baby console.

Im on the fence.After spending over 150 on skylanders last year I said I wouldnt do that again.That was a weeks worth of fun for my Then 4 year old.But This game seems to have more replay value and my daughter may like it too.Appeals to both genders
Also buyer beware.I was going to trade in the skylanders giants at Gamestop to buy swapforce.And found out its one of the few titles it will not buy back…
This game seems interesting, and fun. I’d have to try a demo though, I’m wary of it being cheap, because it’s a freakin’ Disney game.
Disney games used to be some of the best games back in the 16 bit era… It’s sad we’ve come to this. Hopefully kids will enjoy the game though.
Men, i really can´t wait to play this game! Even though im going to be 21 years old guy, im a huge Disney Fan. I love the gameplay and the overall the concept looks great.
I hope people understand how this game actually works. The Starter Set comes with three figures that each represent a different player campaign/ adventure that can be expected to last around ten hours each. Of course the game also offers the freeplay/ world building/ game making mode also, but theres no story or missions in that.
You do not have to buy all the figures to access levels. Figures sold by themselves merely become playable in their respective universes playset and in free play mode.
Each package marked “playset” like the lone ranger, toy story and cars playsets, will each offer their own ten hour campaings/ adventures as well as offering up lots of unlockables for free play mode.
Lastly, and kind of obviously, the game genres within playsets are defined by their respective chatacters, so the cars playset features racing, lone ranger stopping outlaws, pirates swashbuckling, buzz lightyear rescuing aliens, sully scaring the crap out of people and on and on.
The concept is fantastic and no purchase is required beyond that of the playsets, with future figure purchases only being required IF you want to play through the same exact campaign with a specific character from that universe.
Im seriously all in as soon as we get confirmation that the stories and campaigns in the playsets arent toddler-ific and actually have a bit of depth, but every preview and review ive seen SWEARS that ALL this stuff blew them away with its quality and refinement.
Sure, like every game on this world, its all a matter of taste.

I’d love to play this, but I really can’t justify the price. I mean, $35 for individual sets? I could an entire game for that price–heck, I could buy multiple games for that price.
I don’t know why, but every time a game is a multi-platform release, I lose my interest. Though this might have potential. Even though I know nothing about it.
